The Dodgers will probably put Verdugo or even Buehler on the table so unless the Royals are going to consider Mondesi, not sure if they can play at that level.
Darvish is going to draw interest from some teams with a ton of spare parts at the farm, including the Yankees with Mateo (who's probably not quite to Mondesi's level but he's close). If those are waters the Royals want to swim in, it's gonna hurt. A lot.
