Not every market has the ability to build a roster each year with money. A team like the Royals has to hit on numerous prospects developing at one time to have a chance to win. Just like Chiefspants laid out wit the players who came up through our system.
If you have "talent" but won't be winning (current season), you unload to get a haul of prospects. There is not time table for how long it will take to get "good" again. A lot has to go right for small market teams to make a run like we did in 2015.
I realize this is hard for many new Royals fans to understand. And although the Royals are spending money on this roster, it's not sustainable unless you're winning. Many of the guys who helped us win a World Series simply cannot be retained.
