The year was 2000. It was Bill Belichick's first year as the Patriots' head coach. He entered the draft with numerous needs, identified a player that he liked who had been passed over by all of the other teams, and made his choice. Sixteen years and multiple Super Bowl rings later, that player is now entering the auditorium to announce the Patriots' pick. As the light glints off of his championship jewelry, he is announced to the delight of the crowd.
