Im not even mad about the logic of the film. Its a movie about time traveling aliens. The writing completely falls apart when

he loses his powers. It devolves into the most generic action movie in the world. Tom Cruise cannot die; no matter how ridiculous the action scene is. Then they take the best female character in an action movie since Ripley, and make her a romantic pawn. This version of her just met Tom Cruise earlier in the day, meanwhile he has fallen in love with her for who knows how long. Yet she kisses him. ugh. Then, yes, that ending. They could have made him a martyr, but no, we need a cliched happy ending. He goes back in time, and the aliens stay dead for no reason other than plot convenience. I just found out this movie is based off a japanese manga. The ending for it is far superior.
