Slowik staying in Houston

Kind of crazy that the top candidates are not leaving for new jobs this year. This is big news for Demwco Ryans and CJ Stroud

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Texans OC Bobby Slowik has agreed to a new deal in Houston within the past few days, one that includes a significant raise, per sources. Slowik impressed multiple NFL clubs thru the interview process.<br><br>But he&#39;s sticking in Houston. He&#39;ll be a hot name in 2025.</p>&mdash; Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) <a href="https://twitter.com/AlbertBreer/status/1752473184803127542?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">January 30, 2024</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Seattle and Washington are waiting on Connor Embree.

Yea, Slowik and Johnson looked like the two most obvious HC hires of the offseason, yet they're both staying put. Not to mention how many defensive minded HCs it looks like we're going to get with Macdonald and Quinn being likely in Washington/Seattle.

The NFL is weird sometimes.

That must say something about the Washington/Seattle head coaching positions that coordinators would rather stay than jump on a HC opportunity.

Yeah, it's weird.

There is some narrative out there or person suggesting this is what you do.

I think it's a mistake. There are a pile of coordinators that were hot for a minute and never got a shot.

Johnson probably could've had the Washington job if he wanted it, but doesn't feel like Slowik was anybody's top candidate (or plan B), which is just strange. He did a fantastic job in year one with Stroud.

Seattle is the weird one. They have a solid QB and plenty of other good players. I suspect these coaches don’t like the fact Pete Carroll is still there. Micromanagement perhaps?

Come on COMMANDER'S, give it to EB so the worl can find out if he can make it.
What are the odds he can keep a staff, or even guy's that want to play for him?

Washington is also weird. They have a solid core of offensive players and the #2 pick that could be spent on a QB. New ownership as well, so no Snyder nonsense.

They have a meh roster and their ownership situation is in flux.

staylor26 01-30-2024 07:24 PM

Seattle's roster is a lot better than "meh".

They just don't have their QBOTF.

pugsnotdrugs19 01-30-2024 07:34 PM

This feels like a huge deal for Houston team that is one more good offseason away from maybe seeing us in the AFC Championship game.

FloridaMan88 01-30-2024 07:41 PM

Seattle has no cap room, no championship-caliber QB, no draft position to get one of the top tier QB’s, and .500-level (at best) overall talent on their roster.

Oh and they are about to go through a complex ownership transition/sale.

No one with options is touching that job.

Carolina should have backed up the Brinks truck and if it doesn't work you punt on Young.
