He's not right. He's lost weight and can't speak to this day. It was blown off as a some sort of speech/vocal infection, but it's more than that. Is he hiding a stroke?

Could be anything, really. I saw him earlier and thought either stroke or cancer. Maybe both?

Whatever it is, good luck to him. One of my childhood favorites.

He was a huge part of the early Royals. I'm not sure why we don't get the full story. There's something going on.

IIRC, he had a stroke either last year or the season before because he missed some time in the broadcast booth.


Hope he gets well, but he's an arrogant asshole. I remember him coming to our school (jr high) and told all of us kids (who loved/idolized the Royals/professional ball players) that none of us were gonna be professional athletes because the odds against us are so great, but also didn't hide from telling us how great he was.

Of course he was probably right about us not making the big leagues, but as a guest speaker, you don't go and tell a bunch of kids that. That's just being an asshole.

He's been on my mailing list for years. I hope I didn't send him a bad batch.
