Do you sometimes get sad about how unhealthy Andy Reid is?

Dude is obese in a highly stressful job that requires working in tough weather conditions at times (hot sun / freezing cold) and some level physical effort as well, as he is on his feet quite a bit. And he’s 60.

He has every resource at his fingertips; world class nutritionists, world class trainers, world class gym equipment, millions of dollars, and on and on.

He’s had some tough things happen in his life, with his children and all. But wouldn’t you think he’d be motivated to make healthy changes?

Kinda makes me sad for him. And for us - he can’t keep doing this forever, Especially in his current state.

ThaVirus 07-22-2018 10:26 AM

No. He's a grown ass man and makes his own decisions.. those decisions don't affect me.

ThaVirus 07-22-2018 10:27 AM

Half the fan base looks the same anyway.

I only get upset when I see fat kids. That indicates bad parenting.

KCUnited 07-22-2018 10:30 AM

Reid coaching all skinny would be like Cobain recording an album while sober. No one wants that.

O.city 07-22-2018 10:31 AM

Didn’t he lose a bunch of weight?

This!

He kills over it’s on him. There are a lot of coaches that are “Reid disciples”. We won’t have to start over with a new system.

RunKC 07-22-2018 10:33 AM

I get sad about how ****ing stupid Andy gets in January when he’s ****ing my team over.

Rain Man 07-22-2018 10:34 AM

You're probably thinking of that impersonator in the stands and not the real Reid.

MarkDavis'Haircut 07-22-2018 10:35 AM

Regarding his weight, it is his own choice.

As for the family tragedies, I sympathize for him.

Why Not? 07-22-2018 10:36 AM

Why would I get sad over the choices an adult that I do not know personally, makes about his health?

RaidersOftheCellar 07-22-2018 10:37 AM

He looks healthier to me these days.

The stress is reduced. He knows he's about to reel off about 4 SBs before retiring as one of the most decorated coaches in history.

PGM, the least positive guy on the planet. You should read through your post history and do some reflecting - the lens you look through is dark. Its evidenced in almost every post.

Hope you find some happiness, bud! Life ain’t so bad. Let go of that bitterness and anger, and I bet things turn around for you.

Maybe sad was the wrong adjective.

I just look at it, and am so confused about how you get to that point when you have every reason not to.

Half the country is obese. Food companies have convinced Americans that 6 billon grams of sugar per day is normal. It's never surprising to see a fat American. Especially a wealthy one. What is somewhat surprising are the people on welfare who are 200 lbs overweight.

Why would I (or anyone) feel "sad" for Reid? He's a grown man. And, believe it or not, some folks are just "big". Does the thought of a 315 pound lineman make you "sad"?

That’s interesting, because the cheapest foods are the unhealthiest, and the healthy foods are expensive.

I’m not at all surprised to see unhealthy poor people.

Sometimes, yeah.

I grew up like five doors down from Will Shields (wasn’t fat); but he seemed to always be in pain.

He said once that the worst thing you can do to a lineman in real life is give them a hard handshake, because their hands are in so much pain.

Different subject, I guess, but yeah. It’s got to suck carrying around all the extra goo.

I was just talking about fatness. Eating a big grass-fed burger might be less likely to give him cancer than a Big Mac, but it won't make him any less fat.

Someone below poverty level shouldn't be able to eat a huge amount of anything. Although, sugar is far and away the biggest factor. They're probably spending half their food stamps on Always Save cola.

Well sure, if you’re looking at the same food type, and calorie count, then yes the fatness will be the same.

That said, the wealthy person has the financial ability to purchase healthier food because their income provides more options. When you have three dollars in your pocket, and you need to feel full for the day, you can’t get a 10 dollar salad from a sit down restaurant where you need to tip.

You hit the dollar menu at a drive through.

There is a direct correlation between obese residents and amount of traffic in the city. More time spent setting in traffic the fatter the local population. Looking at you Houston, TX.

Mine? It's pretty darn good, thanks. I'm happy. Got a good girl that I love, I own my house, my family is healthy for now, I have a great job, my dick still works, I get to travel every now and again. Mahomes is our QB. I can't really ask for much more.

It's okay to have empathy for others. I suppose that's not the most dude-bro thing on a football message board, but, also, I don't really care, so, meh.

This is a fair point. To my knowledge, Andy hasn't come out and talked about how HE is sad about his health/weight. It's very possible he thinks "**** it. I'm a bigger guy anyway, I'm married(still, I think?), my children are grown, except for the one where I went through the worst thing a parent can experience in life with so I've lived through that, I've got a demanding but satisfying gig, I've set it up to where my family is set, I'm gonna eat whatever the **** I want".

I suppose that’s a good point. I guess I care based on what I deem to be valuable, which is health/mobility/comfort. So it’s sympathy.

And the Kansas City BBQ is great! Too bad that HOUSTON'S restaurant closed at the Plaza a few years back. That place was SO GOOD!

Eleazar 07-22-2018 07:08 PM

I don't "feel bad". He's fat because of the choices he makes.

Sure, when you are 60 and have lived a high stress life and you are as big as Reid is, it's not going to be easy to change anymore. But you can still change.

He seems to be very set in his ways, he's about the same size he's always been and he coaches the same way he always has and really, not much has ever changed about him. I would suspect he's just going to continue it for as long as he lives.

If a man wants to give years or decades of his life to food there's nothing I can really say about it.

Andy is still a big overweight guy, but he looks considerably smaller than certain times in Philly when he was huge.

He said he lost 60 lbs in the offseason last year. He’s thinned out a bit compare to the Philly days.

BryanBusby 07-22-2018 10:51 PM
