Is it worth $1500?

We just brought a 2015 Honda Civic for $14200. The mileage is 18800. Right now we have a 12 mo or 12000 miles coverage that comes with the car. The manager offered us a $1500 additional coverage for up to 100,000 miles for the car. Is it worthy it?

Its a Honda you don't need it.

Check and see what it covers... Some of those require the regular maintenance be performed at the dealer and that schedule is brutally expensive and not necessary.

I'd pass.

ClevelandBronco 02-01-2019 03:39 PM

IMHO, no. I wouldn't bet that kind of money on something going that far wrong with a low mileage Honda.

they sell the warranties because they profitable, no.

TribalElder 02-01-2019 04:05 PM

if they are trying to sell it to you, it probably benefits them more than you

Dayze 02-01-2019 04:10 PM

just look at the warranty details and browse the phone book sized list of things the warranty won't cover.

SAUTO 02-01-2019 04:13 PM

What company is it through?

About as important as the coverage.

Bwana 02-01-2019 04:28 PM

Probably not.

Ive got an Acadia at the shop that blew up 8 weeks and 1k miles after they bought it.

6k and the warranty company never blinked. They are installing a brand new engine.

Actually I am, but they are paying. Customer is out about 200 bucks

Mostly true. But I bought an aB May home warranty last summer when my water heater went out. Rep said he’d keep fixingit as often as I wanted for $60/mo and 60/visit on their “gold” 12-mo plan.

A month later my 4-year old AC fritzed out. They spent a month securing the new unit, dealing with the manufacturer as my warranty was either out....or lessening for me.... on and on. 3K new unit.

Then my water heater, on trip 3, dude says “I’m going to condemn it and get you a new one”. Boom. Another 1K free. They’re getting killed on me

No. Reports show most folks lose money in the long run.
