***Official Who to Start Thread***

Week 1 is looming folks. I'm giddy - like a schoolgirl. Anyway, I figured I would create a thread where people from the planet can post their rosters, and or tentative weekly starting rosters if they needed help.

I'm stuck @ #2 RB and #3 WR. Here is who I have starting in week one.

QB - Garrard @ Tenn
RB - Barber @ Cleveland
Portis @ NYG, TJones @ Miami, Selvin Young @ Oakland
WR - Colston v. TB
WR - Cotchery @ Miami
Bryant Johnson v. Zona, Hackett @ SD, Porter @ Tenn, Galloway @ NO
TE - Lee v. Minny
K - Jeff Reed v. Houston
JAX D @ Tenn.

Any help/guidance for my second RB and third WR would be appreciated.

Our information has yet to be posted on Yahoo! But, when it is I will be able to let you guys know some of the better FA WRs.

Old Dog 08-29-2008 11:59 AM

Portis in a close call over Jones ar RB2
Galloway at WR3
those are the ones I would go with

BigVE 08-29-2008 04:05 PM

My first instincts were to say T. Jones and Bryant Johnson. I'm thinking with Favre at qb and T-Rich at fullback and all the money NYJ spent on O-lineman that T Jones is going to have a good year. Bryant Johnson looks like he could be "the guy" in Martzs pass happy offense...if SOMEONE can get him the ball the kid is talented. After reading the other response I can't argue with that either but this is what my thinking is/was.

Shaid 09-01-2008 08:58 AM

Here's my team.
QB - Tom Brady/Carson Palmer
RB - Westbrook, LJ, Brandon Jacobs, Matt Forte
WR - Larry Fitzgerald, Marques Colston, Chad Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Bowe, Ted Ginn Jr
TE - Dallas Clark, Kevin Boss
Def/ST - Giants
K - Mason Crosby

I need 2 RB, 2WR, and a Flex.

RB - LJ/Westbrook
WR - Larry Fitzgerald/Marques Colston
Flex - ???

I'm thinking Brandon Jacobs but does Bowe have a good game against the possibly suspect Patriots corners?

Mr. Arrowhead 09-01-2008 11:18 AM

Which 2 RBs do i start?
Ryan Grant vs vikings
Kevin Smith vs Falcons
Michael Turner vs Lions

Buck 09-01-2008 11:28 AM

CJ, I would go with Portis and Galloway

Mr. Arrowhead, Grant, and Turner

Heres my question.

Do I start - Kurt Warner @ San Fran, Jon Kitna @ Atlanta, or Matt Hasslebeck @ Buffalo

Mr. Arrowhead 09-01-2008 11:30 AM

i would go with Hasslebeck

Reaper16 09-01-2008 11:50 AM

Edge James or Kevin Smith?

I say Turner and Smith.

Grant hasn't done a lot this pre-season and that Vikings Run D is pretty darn good.

Nzoner 09-01-2008 09:21 PM

I'm actually starting JT O'Sullivan vs Zona over Schaub this week in my biggest money league and looking for a few dump-offs to Gore to turn into something.I also get the pleasure of playing the Brady owner right out of the gate so hopefully the rest of my squad can keep it somewhat respectable.

Barber @Browns
Graham @ Saints

Wayne vs Bears
Cotchery @ Dolphins
Burelson @ Bills

Witten @ Browns

Bironas Vs Jags

Titans D vs Jags

Coach Belicheck vs KC

Ceej 09-01-2008 10:36 PM

Based on matchups alone here is one league, and the other right after it.

David Garrard @ Tennessee
Clinton Portis @ NYG, TJones @ Miami, Selvin Young @ Oakland?
Marques Colston v TB
Jerricho Cotchery @ Mia
Derrick Mason v Cincy, Galloway @ NO, BJohnson v Zona, DJ Hackett @ SD
TE - Donald Lee
K - Jeff Reed
JAX D

In league one it's .5pts per reception. Standard scoring. I'm leaning towards Portis and Mason (for PPR value AND he's built a nice chemistry with Flacco). Thoughts?

League 2:

QB - Roethlisberger v. Houston
RB - Selvin Young @ Oakland
RB - McGahee v Cincy
WR - Fitzgerald @ SF
WR - Santonio Holmes v. Houston
Cooley @ NYG, or Ben Watson v. KC?
K - Bironas v JAX
D - Pitt v Houston.

Thoughts?

jjchieffan 09-02-2008 12:47 PM

My #1 rb is LT. My other backs are M. Turner, Gore, and McGahee. Who should I start this week at #2? I have Gore right now, but I keep hearing how Martz doesn't like using running backs. I know Vermeil made fantsy studs out of Faulk and Priest running virtually the same offense, but I'm not too sure if that carries over to Martz. Thoughts?

Ceej 09-02-2008 01:25 PM

Admittedly, I've not heard much about how he's done post-surgery. But, I'd probably start McGahee vs. Bengals.

Hoover 09-02-2008 01:42 PM

OK here is my problem

RB, Stephen Jackson vs Philly, Clinton Portis vs NYG, Lawrence Maroney vs Chiefs pick 2.

WR, Braylon Edwards vs Dallas, Welker vs Chiefs, Greg Jennings vs Minn.

I should have never drafted Welker because I'll always be nervous about starting him because he's a slot guy.

Ceej 09-02-2008 01:52 PM

I'd prolly go SJax/Portis. Who knows how many carries Mauroney is going to get?

Braylon Edwards/Welker, also.

BigVE 09-02-2008 04:40 PM

One question: McGahee is an every week starter when healthy but do I go ahead and gamble on him this week even though he is less than 100% since he is matched up against Cincy? My other two Rb's are E. Graham against N.O. and M. Turner against Det. Thanks.

RB's i would go with Jackson and Maroney
WR's i would go with Edwards and Jennings (isnt Welker dinged up?)

I had the same prob with Welker last year, he ended up benched on the good weeks and then I would stick him in and he wouldn't do much for me.

Colston, A. Johnson for sure...then its a tossup between the other 3. I would probably go with CJ...he is as healthy now as he will be all year.

Pablo 09-03-2008 06:22 PM

McFadden vs. Denver
Kevin Smith vs. Atlanta

I want to start one of these guys..but who has the worse defense? And Smith is supposed to be the featured back while McFadden will split time, but Denver's D is so bad, would it be worth it?

And since I can start 3 WR's/2 TB's or vice versa would

LT/McFadden/K. Smith
Reggie Wayne/Santana Moss work out fine?

Mr. Arrowhead 09-04-2008 08:36 AM

Chris Perry vs Balt
DeAngeles Williams vs SD
or Reggie Bush vs TB

I'm thinking about going A.Johnson, C. Johnson and K. Winslow. Colston is facing a good Bucs secondary this week. It'll probably come back to bite me in the ass....but it usually does anyways.

I would go with McFadden against the Broncos. There going to get McFadden out there and get him some touches. Plus you know they'll be running with him and throwing to him as well.

I would go with Favre though because of who they are playing. Anderson could have a shootout in Dallas but the secondary is a lot better in Dallas then it is in Miami.

Sure-Oz 09-04-2008 02:15 PM

Who would you start

My 1st RB spot is with Thomas Jones

I'm thinking of starting Ricky Williams in the 2nd spot (yes my rb's suck)

Bench RB's=Matt Forte, Edjerrin James, and Lendale White

What do you think?

I don't trust James at all, it seems he always gets a TD stolen, plus i have Fitzgerald at WR

I have the choice of Hasselbeck and Favre, and am going with Favre because of the weak opponent. It's certainly a gamble, but I think he could put up some big numbers this season. I would go w/ Favre.

I would actually think about starting Forte and getting some use out of him while he still has the starting RB gig. I think you should wait to start Ricky until Miami shows they are going to use him consistently.

yeah it's a crap shoot cause i have no idea what to do...chicago could get blow out early and have to throw too? Ricky Williams is the best "projected" guy to have the best day. I could see him doing well though if he gets 20 carries...thats what im unsure about...

and edj james is always a tweener start

Sure-Oz 09-04-2008 02:38 PM

I actually may be offering too much but i offered james and galloway for turner...

I have Calvin Johnson and TJ HOUSHMACHAMPIONSHIP as backup WR's

noa 09-04-2008 11:15 PM

OK, for my final flex spot, I have to decide between:

Lee Evans (against Seattle)
Nate Burleson (against Buffalo)
Fred Taylor (against Ten)
Kevin Walter (against Pitt)

I'm actually tempted to start Kevin Walter. He ended the season with awesome fantasy stats last year and is a decent option if Pitt focuses on Andre Johnson. I don't like Fred Taylor at all because of Tenn's run defense last year. Jax couldn't do anything against them in either game last season.

Burleson....he's Hasselbecks only option.

That's a tough one. Rivers is missing some key offensive linemen and Rodgers is playing against that tough front 4 of Minnesota. I think I'd go with Rodgers...but thats just me.

Bowser 09-06-2008 04:11 PM

Here's one...

Drew Brees vs. Tampa Bay

-OR-

Aaron Rodgers vs. Minnesota

The Franchise 09-06-2008 04:23 PM

Go Brees. I know Tampa Bay has some damn good CBs but you have to go with Brees because you know that they'll be airing it out. Plus he actually has a TE now to go with Colston and Bush.

Yeah, that's how I was leaning. The only thing making me pause was Minny's craptastic pass D last year. Thanks! (This is my first year in fantasy, so I'll likely be popping in here quite a bit)

I decided to play it safe and go with Rivers today over Rodgers.

Dartgod 09-07-2008 10:16 AM

Who should I start as my 3rd receiver? We get 6 pts for TDs, 1 point per 10 yards, and a point per reception.

Tony Gonzalez
Roddy White
Derrick Mason
Justin Gage

Roddy White is the most likely player to get a TD out of that bunch.

I think Rodgers because the Packers won't be able to run at all, they'll be forced to pass a lot. Vikings didn't give up a lot of passing yards per play last season, but they gave up a lot of overall passing yards because that was all any team could do against them.

I would also go with Roddy White

Ceej 09-07-2008 10:23 AM

Personally, I'd go with Mason.

They're playing Cincy and what I read on Yahoo! was Flacco and Mason had a tight-knit relationship. So, I'd expect him to look Mason's way plenty of times.

I don't expect Mason to put up amazing numbers, but the fact that it's a PPR league helps both of our causes out! :)

Ceej 09-07-2008 10:27 AM

Tough call Reaper.

But, I can't possibly seeing RJ getting a ton of touches. Maybe somewhere 8-12. I would probably wouldn't put too much into it. I'd roll with KSmith for that reason and like the Cardinals - Edge has been average at best.

Gimme Smith.

Reaper16 09-07-2008 10:31 AM

E. Graham or J. Lewis??

I heard Lewis was a bit dinged up this week too. Give me Graham.

LocoChiefsFan 09-08-2008 04:35 PM

Should I start Larry Johnson next week against Oak or Michael Turner against Tampa Bay?

BigVE 09-08-2008 04:49 PM

After Turners performance of this week he is looking like he will be an EVERY week starter but Tampa's D is also looking pretty tough. My first instinct is/was to say start LJ at home against the Faiders. Either way, you should be alright.

The Franchise 09-08-2008 04:50 PM

Turner is going to come back down to Earth. The Lions defense is horrible.

What?? You mean he won't get over 200yds AND 2 TD's each and every week????

No kidding, but I'm thinking he will be a top 5 fantasy RB thus making him an every week starter in most peoples eyes.

Here is my lineups thus far. I need help in the bolded areas.

Roethlisberger
McGahee
Selvin Young
Larry Fitzgerald
Santonio Holmes
Chris Cooley
ROB Bironas
Pitt D

I think that lineup is good for now. Not really anyone to replace those guys with. My RBs are pretty depressing thus far.

Other league:
Currently I am trying to get my hands on Delhomme

Garrard v. Buff, or Delhomme v. Chicago?
Barber (if he's healthy)
Portis
Colston
Cotchery
Galloway v. Atl, Bryant Johnson @ Sea, DJ Hackett v Chicago?
LJ Smith
Jeff Reed
JAX D

There alot of variables in both leagues. In league 1 I'm trying to get myself a good RB, and in league #2 I desperately need a #3 WR.

Any help is appreciated.

Housh vs. Tenn
OchoCinco vs. Tenn
Welker @Jete
