I am so ****ing glad I opened this thread. Discussion in here is top notch.

Halfcan 05-21-2016 09:27 AM

With those long arms and the way he plays-Jones kind of reminds me of this guy.

This is my first time seeing this press conference, and don't remember it being posted on here. I really like this kid. He's got personality and he wants to be great. I liked the part about emulating the guys in front of him. He's also got a chip on his shoulder, you can see it.

I can't say I saw it.

He said he has it.
But I just didn't see it.

I know what you're saying, but I wasn't reffering to this interview alone with that statment.

RunKC 05-21-2016 11:15 AM

interesting that he rushed as an edge rusher standing up at times. If worst case scenario happens (Ford or Tamba put on IR or Houston falls through) we could line this kid up as an OLB on obvious passing 3rd downs.

7.44 3 cone and I think a 1.6 10 yard time. Would rather do that then have Frank ****ing Zombo rushing the QB when we need results.

Can you imagine the occasional base package with Houston-Howard-Poe-Bailey-Jones, or replace Houston with Hali if he isn't back yet..

LOL. Good luck running the ball anywhere. Better yet just good luck blocking anybody.

That definitely IS an interesting fact, sounds plausible to stand him up in certain situations... because yeah, I dont wanna be counting on Frank ****ing Zombo to bring the heat, either

Will his presence cause the return to CP of Big Dick Jones?

Zombo is a damn good backup. He's done really well for us as an injury replacement, especially late in games. The oakland game comes to mind.

6'5 310 - an athlete with a basketball background, Jones has wide shoulders, long arms and little fat on his frame. Although he is a fluid mover with power, he is raw, failing to use his hands effectively and often playing too high. He is a boom or bust prospect who needs a good position coach

The negative clips ESPN played provide truth to that assessment

Not the least bit excited about this guy, no way is he ready to make a difference in 2016

I told the kid face to face that I thought he would be the DROTY at camp. It's too bad he didn't get to start and get a lot of snaps early in the year, or he might have been.

Even over Bosa.

Not a ****ing chance.

If Bosa had started from day one he potentially leads the league in sacks.

RunKC 01-04-2017 07:30 PM

That's a bit homerish. Jones has been great this year but Bosa is on another level.

2 sacks
8 QB hits
32 pressures

Not bad for a rookie who only started like 10 games

Tribal Warfare 12-17-2017 12:28 AM

2 straight weeks Chris has been balling out oh his mind. IMO, if Chris PWNS mother****ers KC wins.

CoMoChief 12-17-2017 12:41 AM

Jones has been a ****in animal these past couple games. Itd be really nice if all of a sudden something just "clicked" and now he gets it, and can now start dominating. Chiefs DL needs it. Was scared for a sec when he went down w/ inj, but he seemed to have walked it off, thank god.

Derrick Johnson, one of my alltime favorite Chiefs, has lost his step....BIG TIME. Right about now marks 1yr since he inj his achilles IIRC, but I think the inj and age is just too much. Not saying he's not effective, and he in no way has reached Hali status yet, but he was getting burnt all night w/ backside help on underneath routes. Gates really burned his ass on that TD. But, he's a leader and there isn't anyone playing better outside maybe Ragland...which was a nice pickup btw.

Watching him get burned by a 48 year old 300 lb TE was had to watch.

Gates was great once but now...there's not excuse for that.

He's still very solid vs. the run. Unfortunately his speed and agility are gone.

He's a 2 down LB now...

This is exactly the kind of game Chris need to be in straight beast mode to earn the kind of money he wants.

His knock is undisciplined run defense and his strength is interior pass rush.

If he can be dominant against Minnesota’s run game and terrorize Cousins...Pay the man.

They are pulling Jones on some run downs and playing him at DE for others.

I have no idea why the cap will go down, but it’s going to **** us when it comes to Jones.

The cap will not decrease.

The most likely scenario is that the NFL will "pay itself back" once the new TV contracts have been finalized.

The NFL Salary Cap may not rise much in the next two years (some are calling it a "Flat Cap") but there's no way the NFL is decreasing the cap because it would lead to complete and utter chaos, which isn't a good look when you're hoping to sign the largest sports broadcasting deal in world history.

My guess is they want to see how much Mahomes is going to cost them and then they’ll have an idea of what they can pay Jones.

Exactly, can you imagine what would happen if you had to cut everyones salary.

Not happening.

So much for 100% participation.

That’s what I was thinking, but the media dipshits keep touting the 25-30% decrease in cap.

The NFL will make more than enough money to cover.

There may be a handful of owners w/ shitty teams and flush cap situations that think "sure, melt this sucker down and let's start over..."

But the overwhelming majority won't be. They'll figure something out.

It seems a flat cap is the likely scenario so I wonder if we won't see a Mahomes deal tied to % cap somehow. It's been a rumored approach for awhile and this may be the perfect introduction to it - provided it's allowed under the CBA.

You could have just said “The Raiders” and been done with it. :)

I was thinking along the lines of Redskins, Giants, Lions and maybe Cleveland.

You know who'd really like to see it? Miami. Young, cost-controlled QB with some ascending talent and a clear path to the division (Tua developing into a top 12ish guy).

If the NFL dropped it's cap by 20%, Miami could still stay under it pretty easily and there will be some big-time talent that would hit the market. The Colts might be similarly intrigued even though they don't have a long-term option at QB.

There are some teams that would benefit a great deal, but not enough to carry the vote, IMO.

This idea was floated when Rodgers was negotiating his most recent deal with GB. IIRC it was not allowed under the CBA. I'm not sure if they changed that in the new CBA, but I cannot imagine that would be 1) wanted by the owners or 2) a big sticking point with a majority of the players.

It was also rumored that he would have an opt-out after every year. That also did not happen.
