Never heard of this dude.
Is he any good? |
Quote:
If the Chiefs release him he was an overpaid, worthless piece of shit. There you go. |

Value Good pickup. Needed a vet 4-3 Defensive End. Now we have more flexibility this offseason |
Seems steep, but want to see the structure of the deal.
|
Solid move. You couldn’t get Ogbah so this was plan B.
Productive, experienced pass rusher who can provide good depth and rotate. |

So, does he replace Alan Bailey?
|
Had a busted achilles in 17 so he fits the profile.

Okafor will play on the edge |
So much for Golden?
|
Criminal jaywalker.
|
He can take on blocks and hit the rb better than Ford. That helps.

What's the dead cap if/when cut after 2 and how much is he making in the first 2 seasons? I mean if this turns into a 2 year $12 million deal with a bit of dead cap space on the other side...meh. But I'd like to see the structure before I really care either way. |
nothing to get excited about but I guess it's depth and I guess a 3 yr $18-24 mill is cheap these days?
|
He's the next Reggie White until he's not. He gets it done 60% of the time 100% of the time.
|
Dude owns a cupcake shop.
|
Probably not a bad signing

He looks like a good run defender.
We're going to be blitzing a ton this year. |
It's so much nicer, to me atleast, to be able to sign guys to play the DL in a different system than previous.
I don't know why. |
Quote:
I am fricken thrilled with what he may bring. He was a stud at Texas, thought he would go earlier than the 4th round. |
The Saints run defense was ranked No.1 last year. Okafor was a part of that, so there’s more to it than sack numbers.

Okafor is a pretty tough dude. Never quits. Was a work out warrior in college and that had carried over to the pros. Very good work ethic. He'll help the Chiefs. Dont really know what to think about the cost until we see how its structured. But this guy can play. |
$6M a year isn’t bad. We need players. He could start, so that’s good value more than likely.
Now where is Darby. |

Saints fans thoughts on Okafor Sounds like a solid pickup |

Remember Reid interviewed their DC Dennis Allen before hiring Spags. So just in that way you get an idea what they look for in the weak side DE. And he fits the mold of the strong pursuit, high motor relentless type players Veach has brought up since the Speaks pick. It’s not flashy and lightning first step but it’s a solid rotational piece. And they do need a veteran as they tear down the old D and build it back up. |
Quote:
4 sacks in 16 games is no great shakes, but sacks aren't everything... this run D is in desperate need of improvement |
Great. We got Tyson Jackson without spending the THIRD OVERALL pick on him.
|
I don't know much about him, but he sounds young enough and solid enough (but not flashy). Pair him with a draft pick and let them fight it out.
|
necessary cog in the system, can't complain
|
Ace in the hole when we play them next February.
|
Seems to use his hands really well. Looks like a taller, step-slower version of Justin Houston.

It’s always a low first year cap hit. If it’s $6 million AAV, it will probably be roughly $4 million this year IMO.

I'm telling you, I still think that guy is a letter-perfect SDE here. I'd be pretty disappointed to see him sign somewhere for a reasonable figure that we could've brought him back under. I do wonder if there aren't more hard feelings among the 'old guard' here than we were led to believe. Those contract negotiations in '15 and '16 seem to have rubbed that group of players (Houston, Berry and Hali) pretty raw. |
Looks like all of his PFF grades dipped a little in 2018 from 2017. Probably related to the Achilles recovery.
If you get the 2017 player, he’s well worth it. |

Sounds like a good piece of clay for Daly to shape into whatever he wants without breaking the bank. Jones, Nnadi, Okafor, Speaks, TK, Williams. I think Daly can create something with that.

One for if Dorsey does a thing. Another for if Veach does that same thing. Because that's just how I roll, man. You should've seen the posts I had for Earl Thomas. Oh had I been around CP when Dorsey had evidently signed him. So much gargling was going to happen. But had Veach done it - RAAAAAGE!! Because I hate everything now. |
Quote:
Well shit. Those are different people. And they both went to UT, which was all I thought I knew about Alex Okafor. Which is to say I probably don't know anything about Okafor afterall. Carry on... |
Is he an under 26 All-Pro whose never been injured on a team friendly deal? If not then **** this signing.
|
This forum starting to understand Veach isn’t a good GM yet? Or is it gonna take more time?

From everything i’m reading he seems to be the complete opposite of Dee Ford.

Truthfully, we don’t know one way or another yet. Personally, I think the guy has a vision and it’s going to come together piece by piece. You’re the type to hate that Ford trade now, but when a year or two goes by and cap space is harder to find, you’re gonna be damn glad he has that extra 2nd rounder that is a cheap, talented player. |

im personally withholding judgement till after this season ends. but i might get emotional post draft if he doesn't do what my armchair-gm ass wants

Did we sign this piece of shit yet????!!!!

Just seems like some bruised egos never really got unbruised even after they cashed those signing bonuses... |

If Reid allows them to get away, we won’t miss them. |
This deal also gives us a ton of flexibility with that first pick.
There will be some solid edge guys in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds who could be solid players for us with some maturation. If we sign Darby, we could take a developmental corner in the 2nd or 3rd...someone like Trayvon Mullen. We're essentially winnowing down our needs for a guy we draft to come in and be a starter from day one. It'll be interesting to see if we sign a second safety. |

He’s the reason we didn’t play in February Why do the Pats win? They don’t make stupid mental mistakes. You think the Pats would’ve kept Ford after that? Lol He’d be shipped off to SF for a 2025 6th round pick |
We went from 8m for Bailey to 6m for Okafor?
