Glioblastoma Multiform BigMeatballDave

This is Dave's son, Nick or LittleMeatballNick. I am posting on my dad's behalf since he can no longer post. He was diagnosed with brain cancer in August of 2014. For almost 2 years, he has been fighting and last week, he could no longer fight and is now in hospice care. If you would like to help, I am raising money for his cremation and any bills he may have leftover. www.gofundme.com/2v6zxfck
Thank you everybody.

Cool. The mods can either merge them or just go ahead and nuke this one (I don't think I can delete it on my own)

Chief Roundup 05-01-2016 08:32 PM

Prayers and well wishes for you and your family.

DaneMcCloud 05-01-2016 08:42 PM

I donated but it wasn't enough to cover all of the great conversations that Dave and I had over the years.

Dave was acutely aware of my wife's cancer situation and continually checked in via PM, as I did with him throughout his ordeal and trials. He was an amazing guy and the world is a lessor place without him.

Godspeed, Dave.

Simply Red 05-01-2016 08:48 PM

TimBone 05-01-2016 09:46 PM

Sorry to hear that, Nick. I enjoyed interacting with your Pops here at the Planet. My condolences to you and your family. Someone (I believe Scott Free) mentioned that it would be nice if you stuck around here in his honor, I think that's a solid idea.

TimBone 05-01-2016 09:46 PM

I will donate when I get to my truck. My card is in there.

Titty Meat 05-01-2016 10:38 PM

I'm pretty upset right now. While I was away from CP he sent me a message asking how I was doing. **** man I wish we would have had more time to talk.

Nick, I'm so sorry to hear about your fathers condition. He's a great man.

threebag 05-01-2016 10:43 PM

Great dude. Prayers for BMD and his family.

scho63 05-01-2016 10:52 PM

To pass so young is truly a tragedy. I am so sorry for your family's loss.

My mom died at 57, my dad at 60, both grandfathers, one grandmother, two of three aunts, two uncles and a cousin all of cancer. it is a miserable death.

My prayers to everyone.....o:-)

The Franchise 05-01-2016 10:57 PM

Sorry to hear about your dad Nick. I didn't know him well here, but I can imagine what he, as well as you and your family are going through. I lost my mother to cancer and it is an terrible thing to watch. God bless him. And you hang in there.

Dammit, Tattoo. Mike was one of my best friends on Earth. I still try and do right by his youngest boy as I promised that I would. Mike Hall was one of the greatest men I ever met. He never had much, but he had heart in spades, and would never do anything to hurt a soul. Rest in paradise my friend. You are missed so much more than you know...

TLO 05-01-2016 11:10 PM

It warms my heart that there have been so many been willing to donate in such a short period of time. We might be one giant group of assholes and misfits... but we look after our own. And that makes me quite happy.

RealSNR 05-01-2016 11:13 PM

At least the guy got to see the Royals win one more World Series.

This is tough. These Planeteer deaths always hit me pretty hard for being people on the internet.

Dave was a great one. Insanely nice guy.

BryanBusby 05-01-2016 11:30 PM

That's awful. Brain tumors are awful and I wouldn't wish them on anyone.

I do regret not reading around a little more to of seen this before hand, and not been a bit of a dick when bantering back and forth with him.

I did the same thing and I knew. I just didn't know the extent. I assumed he'd come out just fine, and now I'm sitting here hoping the guy knew it was all in good fun anyways. It kind of sucks.

Mile High Mania 05-01-2016 11:33 PM

This stuff is always sad to hear about... Nick, our thoughts and prayers are with your family. Your dad will be missed around here, cherish all the memories and set an example that would make him proud.

Buehler445 05-02-2016 12:06 AM

Damn it. Just damn.

Your pops was one of the good ones Nick.

The list of former Planeteers is getting long. :(

I'll pitch in some in the morning. It will be criminally small compared to the Man, but I hope it helps.

EDIT: Done. Hope you can meet your goal.

Perineum Ripper 05-02-2016 01:41 AM

LoneWolf 05-02-2016 02:13 AM

I sent him a PM about a month ago apologizing for some truly awful things I said to him in a thread and received no response. I hope he is OK.

For him to not be around during the draft to pimp all of the players from Utah, there must be something wrong.

Coochie liquor 05-02-2016 03:50 AM

So sorry to hear this news. Always liked BMD. Prayers and positivity coming your way. Hope you and your family are able to get the funds you need. Bless up Nick!!

Chiefs=Champions 05-02-2016 03:52 AM

This place has been a great refuge over the years. I owe people like him a great deal. Might not post a lot, but you still get to know people from afar.

Seemed like a great guy. God bless him and your family.

FlaChief58 05-02-2016 05:18 AM

Terrible news, my prayers to you and your family. God speed Dave

BlackHelicopters 05-02-2016 05:23 AM

Quesadilla Joe 05-02-2016 05:47 AM

He truly was one of the nicer people here. I was hoping things had turned around for him. God bless you BMD!

Eleazar 05-02-2016 05:49 AM

Nick, please let him know that we all wish him well and he was a credit to this place. He's a good guy that we will all miss.

KCUnited 05-02-2016 06:46 AM

Dang. Much respect for Dave.

Lonewolf Ed 05-02-2016 06:53 AM

I am saddened to see this in ways I hope none of the rest of you ever will be, those who have not had cancer. Dave was a big supporter in my fight against cancer, and we pm'ed quite a bit. I truly wished he'd be around after I was gone and many years more. I pray he does not suffer and passes peacefully.

Sweet Daddy Hate 05-02-2016 06:56 AM

No one who passes from cancer deserves to go out like that. I continue to pray for Dave and his family. This one truly sucks. And hurts.

ChiTown 05-02-2016 07:13 AM

Gawdmanit!!!

Dave is a great guy. This just completely sucks. God bless him and his Family. He will be DEEPLY missed by his Family here at CP.

**** Cancer! I'm so sick of this ****ing wretched disease.

Buehler445 05-02-2016 07:33 AM

Nick,

I'll add that everyone I've met from this site in real life has been top notch. There is a fair number of trolls around and some shit slinging, but anyone that puts themselves out there from this site has been top notch in my experience.

It may seem like a weird deal, but it really is a community here. People come for the football and stay for the people.

luv 05-02-2016 07:36 AM

BMD was always a gentleman. He was never afraid to tell you what he thought, but he was always tactful about it regardless if he was agreeing or disagreeing with you. He shared a lot on here about his life. I believe it was an anonymous way to let things out, but I also believe he had hopes that someone would read something that helped them in their own life. He will truly be missed.

patteeu 05-02-2016 07:50 AM

All of this is totally true. And yes Dave was one of the really good ones. Cancer is a horrid way to go at any age, but 45 damn that's way way to young. I'll throw in a few bucks when I can get back to KC and some actual bandwidth.

I really hope Dave can understand the love we have for him and really almost everyone on the site. Life is far too short.

.....You gotta live like everyday..... Of course I was doing just this when the sand dunes about did me in.
