Some things never change...

Lot of wide open receivers for Green Bay and Detroit against that Niner secondary. Saleh is definitely the better coach than Wilks. That said, the Chiefs receiving group is much worse this season compared to the first Super Bowl against the Niners.

But the other thing is Mahomes is way more experienced now, which is very helpful on the big stage. I don't think he is gonna put the ball in harm's way like he did on those 2 INT's last time. We gotta hope there are no silly bobble ball INT's like we've seen with Toney this season.

Oh yeah, I forgot how Saleh believes he owns Mahomes. The 49ers don't have his magical mind anymore.

The Eagles saved their quitting for this season. That's what I meant by 2023. I know it's a different year, but Philadelphia had much of the same personnel from last season.

It's been a strange season for the Chiefs. Their defense has carried them for much of the season, and their offense hasn't been as dynamic as it's been in seasons past. So we might be tempted to think the 49ers should dominate them. But they still have Patrick Mahomes, and when you have the best QB on earth, you always have a chance.

The Chiefs defensive coordinator, Steve Spagnuolo, has been excellent this season. He's been a successful defensive coordinator for many years and has figured out how to stop some of the best offenses of all time, including the record-setting 2007 New England Patriots. With two weeks to prepare, Spagnuolo will have some things that Purdy and the 49ers offense may not be expecting. Scoring 30, in the Super Bowl, against Steve Spagnuolo, may not be as easy as some would anticipate.

The 49ers defense didn't face that many offenses who stuck with the running game. Even the Lions got away from the run in the second half, when they were dominating in the trenches in the first half. The Arizona Cardinals stuck with the run in week 15, and they rushed for 234 yards. If the Lions had stuck with the run, they may have rushed for 300 yards or more .

Andy Reid will run, run and run some more.

That will be the day.

The Chiefs run ratio has gone up a lot, they have leaned into ball control and defense.

does the lack of Niners trolls speak to a low level of confidence?

What say you, men of genious?

We killed them all when Alex Smith left.

How would everyone here rank the four Chiefs Super Bowl teams?

Obviously, the 2020 team had the O-line injuries. They'd be the hardest to rank because the Super Bowl team was significantly weaker than the team which played Buffalo two weeks prior.

Madden rankings time (Offense/Defense/STs)!

Eagles -- 92/94/90: 92 overall
Bucs -- 90/93/89: 91 overall
2019 49ers -- 85/94/90: 89 overall
2023 49ers -- 90/85/88: 88 overall

2023 Chiefs -- 88/95/91; 91 overall

I’ll agree with this but I think the gap between the Bucs and 2019 49ers is minimal.

I also think that 2019 49er team would’ve beat the 2020 Chiefs worse than the Bucs did.

Look at all the trouble that 2019 pass rush caused even though the Chiefs had Fisher and Schwartz. Schwartz was a wall that game, but Fisher got his ass whooped by Bosa for most of it. I can only imagine what he would’ve done to Mike Remmers.

I’ll assume all 4 teams are on the bye the week before the Super Bowl, so I’m judging them all at the same point.

Given only how they were playing going INTO the Super Bowl (not during the Super Bowl), I’d rank them like this:

1) 2020 Chiefs
2) 2023 Chiefs
3) 2022 Chiefs
4) 2021 Chiefs

2020 had all of those weapons weapons rolling at the same time.

This year we have the best defense by far and the offense has gotten it together for the most part.

Last year, we had Mahomes on 1 leg and didn’t know what to expect from all the WR injuries.

2021 had the abysmal OL situation that couldn’t be overcome against a quality opponent.

UChieffyBugger 01-31-2024 04:57 PM

Niners say if they would have practiced today then Kittle wouldn't have participated. Honestly that TOE injury is one to keep an eye on. If it's a severe turf toe then that's a game changer. He likely still plays but if he's hampered it will show in his blocking and limit his routes.
