Collins would run through a brick wall for him. I'd say the Chiefs become one of the favorites to get him.

Exactly my thoughts.

I think this is good.

No we already had a pass rush, switching to a 4-3 opens huge question marks at DE your main pass rushers in a 4-3.

He’s better than Sutton. I have no doubt about that.

As long as it’s not Bob Sutton. I’m on board.

All we need is a top 18 defense!!!!

So far this off-season is off to a GREAT start!!

Exactly, I get a kick out of people who are like "It cant be this guy or that guy, or it would be terrible". People, we have been living in hell with Sutton, I don't see how anybody could do any worse. If he improves marginally, we win against NE, if he gets us up to average, we are going to be a top team again, but with better chance to get to the promised land.

We had a pass rush. One of those pass rushers is a free agent.

You can put Houston at DE.

I also think it's easier to draft and find players for a 43 than a 34.

I don’t get this at all.

Switching to a 4-3 does next to nothing to limit the DEs. All it will do is take pass coverage out of the equation for guys like Speaks, Houston, Kpass... guys who don’t belong in coverage.

I agree it is easier, but make no mistake about it. It will be a defensive rebuild, would have preferred any 3-4 coach to a rebuild.

From Steve Spagnoulo's Wikipedia page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Spagnuolo

Coaching philosophy

Spagnuolo learned under Philadelphia coach Jim Johnson, and shares the same aggressive, blitz-heavy approach as his mentor. (He did not incorporate this philosophy during his time in New Orleans however). Spagnuolo uses a 4–3 base defense with a heavy emphasis on multiple blitz packages, including corner and safety blitzes. While defensive coordinator of the New York Giants, he often used a smaller defensive line, with three or even four defensive ends to further pressure the quarterback.

This philosophy proved successful, with the Giants leading the NFL in sacks in 2007. In Super Bowl XLII, Spagnuolo's defense sacked Tom Brady five times, which was the most he had been sacked in any game that season.

Gotta feel for the guy...

Takes DC job then suddenly gets thrown into an interim HC role and has to damage control bountygate.

Takes DC job with the giants then deals with one of the most incompetent locker room managers in the game.

Possible the guy has just had some really bad breaks.

How many downs per game are we actually in a 3 man front anyway?

I don't know that it's going to be as big of a change as you're making it out to be.

We do not know how Houston will play at DE that is a question mark. We do know Ford cannot play DE in a 4-3 so he is gone.

So you are taking 2 of our 3 best pass rushers and putting question marks next to them.

O.city 01-23-2019 09:53 AM

It definitely makes Speaks and Kpass more of an option than at 34 OLB.
