2000 Silverado Vibration

Would an out-of-balance driveshaft cause shudder/vibration at different speeds?
Starts about 40 to 50mph, calms down, then again at around 60 on up. I don't even want to take her over 70. I can slap it into neutral and the slight shudder continues. Tires were balanced, which eliminated some of the vibrations the old girl had, but mech' feels the rest may be the driveshaft.

Thoughts?
Thanks,
JP

This sounds like the steering damper. Had this happen in a chevy 1500 spare work truck around that model year.

Yep! I had a 2001 Silverado and experienced the same thing. My good buddy out here has been working on Chevy trucks for over 20 years said that was my issue. Definitely look into it to be sure.

It’s me with your wife in the back seat.

Sorry, brah.

If it’s a driveshaft, typically You can grab it and shake it and feel the slack in the u-joints. If its that, get it fixed right ****ing now. A driveline coming apart and ripping everything under there clear to hell is catastrophic.

I presume it is in 2wd? We had a 99 that had a bunch of trouble with the transfer case.

Check and make sure there isn’t a chunk of mud in the tires first. Even if you just splashed through a puddle it can be enough to **** up your ride.
