Yeah right. We're real good in basketball again and in the right direction to be at least bowl eligible almost every year now. Not great, but making huge strides.

You’d like to think the NBA would be a bit more savvy.

Doesn’t the league realize that a Cleveland Cavaliers Andrew Wiggins jersey could be a collector’s item one day?

Wiggins, the former Kansas star, was drafted this summer by Cleveland. But after LeBron James said he was returning to the Cavaliers, there was talk that Kevin Love would be traded from Minnesota to Cleveland.

Thing is, Wiggins was the key piece to the trade. However, he can’t be dealt until Aug. 23, because a player can’t be traded until after 30 days have passed since he signed his contract. That’s NBA rules.

Former Kansas star Andrew Wiggins was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers, but he seems likely to be a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves one day soon. His Cavaliers jersey has been pulled from the NBA’s online shop.

On Sunday, Wiggins told ESPN: “I just want to play for a team that wants me. So whichever team wants me I’ll play for.”

The NBA shop must know Wiggins is going to be traded. While you can still find a Cavaliers T-shirt with Wiggins’ name on it, his jersey is not available at the NBA store. At first, the store said the jersey had been discontinued, as Pro Basketball Talk reported.

Now the page that contained Wiggins’ jersey is no longer available.

That’s got to be a sign, right?

This is very telling. You blame Kansas alums for forcing your hand. This is totally absurd on its face given you bolted to the SEC despite our opinion. But mostly, you can't possibly believe the SI story on your swimmers suicide after her rape by the football team didn't have jussssssst a bit more impact than what rival fan bases might think. Or the pro-feminist nature of campuses didn't mean all that much.

TribalElder 08-03-2014 10:17 PM

One of Kansas’ most highly touted recruiting targets is off the board.

Allonzo Trier, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Findlay Prep in Las Vegas, committed to Arizona this weekend while on a visit to the school, according to multiple reports Sunday.

Trier, the 12th-ranked senior prospect in the country according to Rivals.com, also had a scholarship offer from Kansas (among many others) and was in Kansas City in late July to play in the Sunflower Showcase grassroots tournament. Considered one of the top pure scorers in the country, Trier led the prestigious Nike EYBL series in scoring this past summer.

Now Kansas can move on, focusing on a list of other perimeter players and big men. Kansas coach Bill Self has put a premium on signing a couple of big guys in the 2015 class — Stephen Zimmerman and Carlton Bragg are set to visit for Late Night — and the KU staff is still pursuing combo guard Malik Newman, the No. 2 overall recruit in the country.

Small forward Brandon Ingram, Rivals’ No. 25th overall player, is also set to visit for Late Night on Oct. 10, according to Rivals.com.

Are you trying to say that Missouri is gun shy about NOT punishing football players due to that tragedy and overreacted with DGB? That is so hilariously pathetic. You go far and wide to attempt to shine Mizzou in a negative light, but this is sad even by your standards.

And you need to get over us leaving for the SEC. We found a hotter, cooler girlfriend than what Big Texas was. It happens. Just sac up and get some home-and-home games on the schedule. All will be fine. Also, I have no idea what you're talking about in regards to KU alums forcing anything. I have no idea how you would think a group of KU alums would be able to force anything, anywhere.

Texas left loyal conference members in Houston and SMU high and dry and would've done the same to A&M and Baylor had it not been for a state legislature when a better deal arose for them.

Tell me beaker idiots, what makes you think they won't do it again in the future?

There's no reason at all to go past 10. Perfect size for a conference. Unless ND decides they wanna join then I'd stay pat. Sure as hell wouldn't go past 12... SEC and B1G scheduling is reeruned.

I read the other day that Ohio State plays Oklahoma and TCU twice in the next five years... And only plays B1G opponent Iowa ONCE in that span.

Having cupcake schedules to pad the wins would be nice I suppose.

So if this is actually true and you believe it, all the years in the Big 12 prior to it blowing up in 2011 were not a good representation of "real American collegiate sports" and whatever accomplishments any team had, including KU, were tainted due to the imbalanced schedule??

Here's a little history lesson for Bambi, just in case he's forgotten what a complete ass clown he is and how pathetically wrong he has been. Not to say anyone NEEDS actual proof what a worthless poster he is, but I figured I'd quote a couple of his "predictions" from the old thread.....

Bambi on 6/26: "more nervousness

http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/sec-...ng-launch.html

Bambi on 6/30: "I just thought the $1.30 subscription fee was laughable (which it is) so it'll be interesting to see where they land when it comes to $$ per subscriber."

Bambi on 7/8: "When one of the top ten cable providers in America hasn't even heard of your network you might begin to think there's a problem."

Bambi on 7/8: "I've said from the beginning the SEC Network will eventually get picked up by networks which already have the Big 10 Network, the Pac 10 Network, etc...

Always said the joke was the price. And it is."

Bambi on 7/9: "RCN is a top 10 cable company in America that hadn't heard of the SEC Network. What a joke."

Prison Bitch on 1/7: "Outside the South, people simply don't care all that much about the sport."

Prison Bitch on 1/13: "I'm always fascinated MU fans still believe there's still going to be this earthquake explosion of revenues that'll make them (and the SEC) rich ad everyone else a pauper. As if the other major conferences would ever allow such a scenario to occur, or go along with it when they could simply band together and freeze out the SEC, leaving them awful non-con games and relegating them to a true Southern quadrant attraction. NASCAR already proved you can't subsist on that regional support alone. Realistically it's extremely doubtful TV will ever pay for one league to have a size able revenue gap."

In PB's defense, there wasn't a whole lot of quotable material predicting failure for the SEC network. A couple times he responded to Bambi about the $$ per subscriber being asinine...but he never really threw out the words fail or gave any certain # he thought would be realistic.

Then again, he hasn't posted much other than Michael Sam homophobe stuff since April and I kinda got bored sorting through all of that.

We did play everybody but a single with the south kind of sucked. As I recall the Big East had home/road round robin when they had 12 teams. Made it brutal, but it was better than playing East Tennessee.

Bambi on 6/26: "lol, SEC Network...

biggest fail in the history of sport"

Bambi on 6/26: "more nervousness

http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/sec-...ng-launch.html

The South is smaaaalllllll........."

Prison Bitch on 1/8: "All the folks who love it (football) are in one quadrant of the country. Doesn't make it meaningless at all, but it does prove it's limited reach."

Then again, he hasn't posted much other than Michael Sam homophobe stuff since April and I kinda got bored sorting through all of that.

yea it's only .25 outside of the 11 states. $1.30 is only for within the footprint.

No it wasn't perfect like it is now so yes, another reason why 10 is better than 12.

That's your response for all of the complete fail a 5 second search found???

And if the answer is yes, what's your point?

You're on record saying that $1.30 was "laughable" and they'd never get that number. Or that they'd never get in the amount of households they inevitably ended up snagging.

FYI...it' reported that the $1.30 is actually wrong. Supposedly it's $1.40.

And for the record...I could really care less. More $$$ is always a good thing, but it doesn't mean shit in terms of anything FANS care about...whcih is winning. The entire purpose of this exercise IS and always HAS BEEN to refute the crap you post and show you what a moron you are. You make this job extremely simple.

I thought it was $1.30 for the entire country. When I found out it was just for the 11 states I stopped linking articles talking about the SEC Networks slow start.

I'm not sure what you're all pissy about. Well, maybe the fact that I'm going to get to watch the SEC Network for a quarter and you have to pay 500% of that cost. Who knows

Bambi 08-04-2014 08:26 PM

Who knew… Missouri Football, a tradition since 2005?

This is a complete lie. The price within the footprint and outside the footprint has been openly discussed in this thread.

So, you are either a lying hypocrite, or a complete dumb ass who cannot read...which is it?

What's there to be pissy about? You talk out your ass non-stop and on occasion it's fun to put you in your place.

And I'm happy you'll get to watch it too, regardless of the price. Can't do anything but help Mizzou that we'll be available to 90M households throughout the country. You'll have to remind me how many people will be watching KU football games this year. I can start that estimate for you...roughly 20,000 Lawrence fans per home game.

All KU sports stream nationally.

Have for a couple years now through a deal signed with Time Warner and ESPN. It's KU's third tier deal which each school negotiates themselves.

Such a failure, that SEC network.

Quote:

1. ESPN: 97 million households - $7 billion
2. NFL Network: 72 million households - $1.05 billion
3. ESPN2: 97 million households - $861.4 million
4. FS1: 88 million households - $718.8 million
5. SEC Network: 75 million households - $611 million
6. NBC Sports Network: 80 million households - $259.2 million
7. Pac 12 Network: 26 million households - $249.6 million
8. Big Ten Network: 52 million households - $237.1 million
9. ESPN News: 75 million households - $207 million
10. NBATV: 60 million households - $194.4 million
11. ESPNU: 75 million households - $189 million
12. CBS Sports Network: 53 million households - $159 million
13. ESPN Classic: 31 million households - $78.1 million

Look at that revenue drop off after the top five sports networks. It's extraordinary. The SEC Network is poised to bring in more revenue than the Big Ten Network and the Pac 12 Network combined, with $120 million more to spare on top of that.

Holy hell.

When you factor in advertising -- which typically runs around a quarter of revenue at other ESPN properties -- ESPN and the SEC have almost created an $800 million network. Indeed, add up all the revenue streams here and ESPN is going to be poised to do nearly nine billion dollars just in subscriber fees. Good lord.

And how about the NFL Network? Now that CBS is going to be airing its Thursday night NFL games, how in the world can that fee be justified? The NFL Network is by far the worst deal for sports fans on this list.

My point in putting all this out here -- the SEC Network is going to be even bigger and more successful than I thought. The SEC Network is now the most successful new sports cable launch and it's still a month away from the launch. And, amazingly, most fans and media still haven't realized the impact it's going to have. You thought the SEC had a competitive advantage before? You ain't seen nothing yet.
