I appreciate Ferentz's work with the program, but I wish he had balls as big as those hailstones.

The sequence on their last possession was ATROCIOUS. ISU had 2 timeouts left, so he ran the run-run pass sequence, but the play goes out of bounds.

In college, because offenses can stop the clock so easily I don't know why you don't just keep going for first downs.

"Firm for Herm" is becoming a thing around here.

Yeah I mean K-State has almost always been underrated in the preseason, unless they had a ranked team.

And yeah basically everyone thought losing Snyder would be a difficult transition when it was really a breath of fresh air.

I would have certainly of placed them ahead of WVU, Texas Tech, Kansas and Baylor. With how things are looking so far, they should probably go ahead of Iowa State too.

I think they're the mid tier with TCU and Oklahoma State.

Yeah that's pretty much what I thought.

People liked the QB's for Tech and Baylor

Yeah, that I can agree. I don't see us beating OU.

Texas, maybe. And I say that in a not so confident manner.

Initially, I had them going 6-6. I think they have a very good chance of going 8 wins now, if they don't get bit too hard by the injury bug.

Story about the Iowa/ISU game

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa's team managers and state troopers had an assist in the Hawkeyes' 18-17 win over Iowa State on Saturday in a game delayed nearly three hours by lightning.

Coach Kirk Ferentz said that during the second lightning delay, which spanned 2 hours, 6 minutes, Iowa's managers left Jack Trice Stadium and scoured the area for sandwiches. Helped by a police escort, they brought back about 60 sandwiches for the Hawkeyes players from three different local eateries.

"First time for everything," Ferentz said.

Lightning delayed the game in the first quarter for 49 minutes, before the longer delay in the second quarter. Iowa and Iowa State shortened their halftime, but the game still took 5 hours, 53 minutes to complete.

"I don't know where they stopped exactly -- I didn't get one of [the sandwiches]," Ferentz said, "but I did see somebody with like a 12-incher or 14-incher."

Iowa star defensive end A.J. Epenesa was among the lucky ones.

"I was so hungry," Epenesa said. "It's frustrating that happens, but that's how it goes. Every team has experienced a rain delay. If there's lightning in the area ... there's rules. You follow the rules and get out of there. We came back and just tried to keep stride and not lose focus and keep going."
