*****Severe Weather Thread-2020*****

Many may know-I am a weather watcher. I have a weather station at school that posts to many weather services. Also have a website with a Twitter account. (with a Chiefs list)

Below is the Windy.com map. I centered it on KC but it can be moved to where you are located. Or go to Windy.com-there is also an app.
Very versatile and tons of possibilities. This map is fully functional for the viewer.

Some have already had severe weather-where as I am looking at 5 inches of snow for Easter.

I just wish we'd get SOMETHING. It's dry here (also known as going in dry)

ptlyon 04-11-2020 09:47 AM

You can have the 5 inches of snow we're supposed to get tomorrow, I wouldn't mind.

BryanBusby 04-11-2020 10:24 AM

50-50 the SE is gonna get ****ed up tomorrow

displacedinMN 04-11-2020 10:27 AM

I am not a meteorologist, I just play one in school.

I’d take that shit. If we’re going to get to butt****ing 17 degrees 5 inches of snow on my susceptible wheat and barley would be a godsend.

Wish you could have it. And no, I'm not cleaning it up.

On the night of the 27th we got slammed by hail in Jefferson City. Did about 8 million in damage to my inventory, maybe another 500k to buildings. Just on my lot. Trashed every car in 1/2 of the city, all the way into holts summit etc.

baseball sized just as above

rydogg58 04-11-2020 08:50 PM

That map tracks pretty smoothly. It works a lot better than the Weather Channel map.

Can you PM me your weather related twitter handle if you're not wanting to post it in this thread, please? I'd like to follow.

Yeah, we seem to be missing most of it here.

It got up to 70 today in Denver, and I think we're getting 4 inches of snow tomorrow.

So what do you do with the cars? Do they hit a wholesale market or something?

If you have any smoking hot deals, give me a shout.

Windy.com

There are a lot of options on it too. If you are interested in a surface map-it only shows the L and H pressure. Not the fronts. But the wind button can really show where the fronts are.

I can usually find a personal weather web page from someone on the weather forum.

Rasputin 04-12-2020 08:47 AM

Kansas weather is bi-polar as ****

Yesterday was Summer and today we have Winter

The worst of ours came through about 9am. Other than a shitload ofrain and a lot of lightening, it wasn't bad as far as storms go. I just took the dog for a walk and it's a really nice day now.

We're in a Tornado Warning atm ...this cell has passed by our place now, but this is the loudest and most jarring thunder I've heard in a long time.

I'll be downright neurotic looking at forecasts that week leading up, trying to decide which route to take.

Really hope I can take the shorter one.

As someone who has made the drive to KC many, many times, the weather is a welcome thing.

Where about do you live? I just southeast of Butler and woke up to one hell of a storm. Got on Weather.gov to see we were under a tornado warning and I don't ever get freaked out by a storm, but damn I was worried last night. There was one hell of a hook on that storm and by the sound and look of that storm I was sure we were getting a tornado. Luckily the storm weakened and the tornado warning was cancelled.

Woke up to tornado sirens going off and had to migrate to the basement at about 3:30.

South Metro KC and I didn't even wake up to it, but found a couple of branches down this morning and a flower pot blown over on the deck.

Waiting on the insurance adjuster to show up.

philfree 06-04-2020 09:48 AM

Crap! Maybe they'll replace my 20 year old above ground pool. I just had a new liner put in and the deck stained and some boards replaced. The grandsons are here for the summer. Crap!

Typically they will cover pools. They're considered personal property.
