Dude, the dude was going to move in with the chick. Back in the day, that would mean sharing the same phone number and phone. If you can swap juices with one another, surely, a little phone swap should be no trouble at all. Each of you ought to be able to handle the others friends in a trustworthy manner if you are committed enough to live together.

The only problem that you are afraid of, is that your mother would keep calling you, thus embarrasing you to your girl.

I'm sorry, I grabbed the wrong phone today dude, here is the number of my phone, call her there.

How fugging lame can you be you dumb ass one phone wonder. I have 5 phugging phones that I manage.

I tell my daughter when I drop her off to HS in the morning, grab a phone, don't cost nothin.

Also some would consider this invading privacy...I know some people don't believe in this whole but pulling this with alot of people would piss them off. Like going through their drawers and such.
