Terminator: Dark Fate

Teaser trailer....this is supposed to ignore any movies after T2. I'm cautiously optimistic with Hamilton and Cameron involved. Heard this is some of the 10 min footage from cinemacon where the cgi isn't finished yet.

@Terminator: Welcome to the day after Judgment Day. Producer James Cameron returns with director Tim Miller for #TerminatorDarkFate. In theatres 11.1.19. Watch the official trailer now. https://twitter.com/Terminator/statu...846144/video/1

Linda Hamilton looks 110 years old...

patteeu 05-23-2019 09:23 AM

How many times are they going to go back and rewrite everything that followed T2?

As many times as it takes until you forget the name McQ.

And, not a terrible trailer I suppose.

Stryker 05-23-2019 09:42 AM

I think it looks "better" than some of the other crap they came out with. I will admit it has my attention.

ThaVirus 05-23-2019 04:54 PM

Shame. Terminator and T2 are legitimately two of my favorite movies of all time.

I didn't completely hate all the following installments but, sort of like Alien, the franchise just rolled straight downhill.

Sure-Oz 05-23-2019 06:28 PM

Someone put the original Terminator score to the trailer. I liked it better.

Cameron was nails with the Terminator. If he’s involved as anything more than a figurehead, it should be good but..... he’s finishing up 3 Avatar movies at the same time. How much time does he have right now?

Heard he co-wrote this and was more involved. I hope...I think it's a big deal to get Linda Hamilton involved and for her to be willing to come back

Deberg_1990 05-23-2019 08:00 PM

I already hate all the fake looking CGI and sped up film trickery in the action scenes. Looks horrible

I'm hoping it will look better at release or future trailers....I just hope it's a good story. That and the practical effects really won me over on Terminator and T2 although the effects were cool back then

Actually 4 Avatar sequels. Out every two years starting in 2021.

Thought the trailer looked pretty cool, on my phone at least.

DJ's left nut 05-24-2019 02:12 PM

By most accounts this is supposed to be Cameron's effort at bringing the franchise in for a landing.

He's looking to cap the 'trilogy', close up some loose ends and somehow write the end to the story. Now obviously the Terminator is the kind of property that you can just decide 'eh ****it, we'll make another one' if this one is actually good. But if they're just looking to settle the story down, make it make some sense and bring it home - it could actually be pretty good.

If they're looking to re-boot it for an expanded universe and more movies to come, it will almost certainly suck.

Rewatched Terminator and T2 man those movies were good. The music in the movies definitely set the tone. I really hope this new one has something similar with Junkie XL...

Sure-Oz 07-18-2019 12:39 PM

This is interesting...

@Borys_Kit: Cameron reveals that Eddie Furlong will be in TERMINATOR: DARK FATE. He was last seen, franchise-wise, in T2.

@Borys_Kit: Tim Miller says Terminator Dark Fate will be rated R.

WhiteWhale 07-18-2019 12:49 PM

At first I wondered why they cast Justin Beiber as the terminator.

Then someone pointed out that was a woman.

Yikes.

So funny how this comment actually flips SO MANY narratives on it's head.

Particularly 'Misogynists sabotage movies with women!"

But yeah. The first two films, the only ones universally loved, had a female lead. Strong female leads are a staple of Cameron period, and it's been that way for over 3 decades. So... I guess action fans aren't hateful misogynists. Maybe that's just an excuse they (specifically the director) are putting out there ahead of the release to sandbag for the fact they know it sucks. It's a marketing strategy at this point, and it never works. I think the directors stupid words assured this film loses money. It was already unlikely to make money based on the fact that we're ALL bored with these movies at this point.

Hell, Terminator 3 was actually the highest grossing Terminator, and the lead villian was a woman. And John Conner's girl was WAY more competent than he was. It still made money.

It doesn't matter. What does matter is the Terminator is a played out property. In my mind there's only 2 cannon films because I don't care, even a little, about the crap that came after T2.

The new Terminator's special power is posing as a drug dealer. It will try to sell a lethal dose of heroin to Furlong/John Conner only to find Furlong's tolerance much too powerful.

Run credits.

I’m a fan of T3. It some some great action scenes and a ballsy ending.

The others after that sucked.

It starred Nick Stahl as John Conner and Claire Danes who were actually pretty good in it I thought.

Sure-Oz 10-20-2019 08:36 PM

Embargo comes off Tuesday. Seems like this may actually be good.

@AisleSeat: TERMINATOR: DARK FATE opens November 1, but the review embargo lifts on October 22. It sounds like Paramount has a lot of confidence in this one! Maybe we're finally going to get another TERMINATOR movie that isn't a crushing disappointment.
Some early reactions tonight.

@ErikDavis: #TerminatorDarkFate is the best of the TERMINATOR sequels after T2. Easily among the year’s most entertaining action films, it’s thrilling, intense & non-stop, but also a sweet story about making things right. Arnold is great & Linda rules, but Mackenzie Davis THROWS DOWN https://twitter.com/ErikDavis/status...263110/photo/1

@mikeryan: I was skeptical of TERMINATOR: DARK FATE. Thought the trailers were not great. But I would up enjoying it quite a bit, and the difference maker (vs the other post T2 sequels) is Linda Hamilton. It’s always been HER story and Hamilton adds the needed weight here.

@GermainLussier: Terminator: Dark Fate is basically Terminator: The Force Awakens. A satisfying, exciting reboot that’s essentially the best parts of T1 & T2 in a blender. Davis, Reyes & Hamilton are excellent, the action wows & while it’s familiar, it’s easily the best T3 yet. Terminator is back https://twitter.com/GermainLussier/s...981504/photo/1

Pepe Silvia 10-21-2019 08:41 AM

Every terminator after part 3 sucked. .

ThaVirus 10-21-2019 03:21 PM

I actually enjoy them all.

T1 and T2 are legitimately two of my favorite movies of all time, though.

crayzkirk 10-21-2019 03:33 PM

They should have stopped at 2. Same with Alien. However, money always wins.

banecat 10-21-2019 06:08 PM

68% on RT on 68 reviews so far. Keep hearing 1&2 are in a league of their own but this a worthy reboot/sequel and Linda Hamilton is great. Being a Terminator fan I'm going to see it.

Saw some reviews that compared the style to force awakens. Also saw some tweets saying it's the best movie since T2 or it's the best T3 is backhanded and doesn't do it justice on it's own. I'm excited to see it.

Exactly. Sarah Conner has been a bad ass for 30+ years. Was that some PC woke shit? Geeez I hate it when people bring their political views and stamp it onto a movie.

The terminator just looks like everyone else too, not a Arnold type. Strength, fortitude and leadership doesn't have to be in the body of a white 6'4" blonde, blue eyed former naval seal.

I thought it was the best Terminator movie since the originals. Seemed to be a reboot. Great action sequences. Looks like they tried to put some real life stunts inside the CGI. You can definitely see some traditional James Cameron type of movie making in the movie.

I hope it does well and Cameron takes the lead on the next one. The guy almost always delivers a good movie.

The average SEAL is 175lb 5'10" they dont give info on eye or hair color but sounds like you are thinking Hitler youth.

Whar I am reading is the film has been terminated on the opening box office of a paltry 11 million. That tells me it has very little interest from fans who have been burned with this franchise recently.

It’s earned the title of #3 in the franchise, IMO... theres just enough of that old magic to place it there

Hamilton owned it, the action was WAY over the top yet still very well done, and the original Terminator was eventually domesticated lol... this was rock solid popcorn fare
