Clark Hunt, Brett Veach & Andy Reid press conference

Clark Hunt-10:30 AM
Brett Veach-11 AM
Andy Reid-3 PM

This should be entertaining..

I will laugh my ass off it if Tamba shows up and heckles the brass.

Rasputin 07-24-2017 07:18 AM

Was this a prescheduled pressing or is this in relationship with Tamba Hali committing career suicide?

siberian khatru 07-24-2017 07:34 AM

Can't wait to see them all get pissed about Dorsey questions.

"Guys, that's old news. We're looking ahead to the season ..."

"If I get pummeled by one more question about someone who's not here anymore ..."

I think when they announced the Veatch signing a few weeks back, they mentioned that they wouldn't be holding a press conference until 7/24.

Probably more to do with the fact camp starts this week. It just so happens Hali went off. It's the first time Clark is speaking to the media after firing Dorsey, so there should be plenty of questions I'd imagine.

pugsnotdrugs19 07-24-2017 08:47 AM

Not expecting to hear much about anything significant. They've likely already planned how they are going to respond to questions about Dorsey and Hali.

Rausch 07-24-2017 08:50 AM

Is Andy Reid presser at 3 so he can go hit up Golden Coral all you can eat breakfast buffet and stay through lunch in one sitting?

Rausch 07-24-2017 09:07 AM

According to 810 (now) it's all discontent and unhappiness...

RunKC 07-24-2017 09:34 AM

Clark-issues popped up in the spring that led me to do a full scrub.....aka Eric Berry

RunKC 07-24-2017 09:35 AM

Decision was mine, but I talk to Andy on a daily basis.

Welp this proves it. Andy wanted Dorsey gone. Andy clearly talked to Clark about this.

RunKC 07-24-2017 09:37 AM

Brett veach wasn't reviewed when Clark scrubbed the personnel department

RunKC 07-24-2017 09:38 AM

Clark said he wanted to make sure he did this after the draft. Holy shit he's wanted to do this for a long time.

bevischief 07-24-2017 09:41 AM

Dorsey had this one annoying nose hair... Too much drama.

penbrook 07-24-2017 09:45 AM

Hunt felt like Dorsey wasn't making the Chiefs better. He believes Veach can take us to a super bowl in 3-4 years

penbrook 07-24-2017 09:46 AM

Clark taking a more on hands approach with the Chiefs

pugsnotdrugs19 07-24-2017 09:48 AM

The more I read what Hunt is saying, the more I think that Dorsey was doing too many things 'on his own'. Aka the communication issues.

OnTheWarpath15 07-24-2017 09:50 AM

KC media is awful. They've had weeks to come up with decent questions, and they're sticking to the same stupid shit as always.

"We need to have the personnel department functioning at a high level."

Aka Dorsey's management of the cap and firing Will lewis and Trip McCracken.

It's as simple as the cap.

Our draft pics had 1st round cap hits and mostly didn't play or didn't reach their potential for years.

On the other hand we paid a few vets that ended up being overpaid and under producing.

The cap IS what allows your team to compete. You just can't **** that up...

Hunt: "We needed a change in the personnel department if we wanted to match the quality on the coaching side."

Woah

Iowanian 07-24-2017 09:54 AM

Clark must really be pissed about that first round QB thing...

It definitely sounds like the vets are pissed an no-one was impressed during negotiations, but they obviously forgot Carl's reputation before Pioli....
The personnel department was bad, yet the entire story line the past 3-4 years has been "look how awesome Dorsey is at finding talent in the scrap heap".

Is it just that the Cap has been so screwed up?

Andy was the one who met with Mahomes and Kingsbury. But they extended Andy. This has nothing to do with Mahomes. I feel like it's the moves like releasing Howard, Maclin, Charles etc

Maybe I'm reading into too much, but sounds like Andy's opinion is held in much higher regard than the GM's.

That could say a lot about why Dorsey was fired and why they chose to promote Veach from within . . . .

Gotcha. That's been rumored before, can't imagine that has anything to do with this 2 years after the fact.

saphojunkie 07-24-2017 10:02 AM

1. Didn't sign Houston when they should have, spent far too much money the following year.
2. Didn't sign Berry when they should have, spent far too much money the following year.
3. Didn't draft a QB when they should have, spent a ton (not too much, tho) to move up for one two years later.
4. Didn't extend Tamba when they should have, spent far too much to extend him the following DAY.
5. Cut Maclin via voicemail.

I think this is what happened.

Everything was smooth sailing until this offseason. What are the two biggest WTF moves this offseason?

1. Maclin released via voicemail.

2. Dorsey fired.

Makes sense, but I'm confused as to how he's just learning about it. No one went to Clark? Clark wasn't in on the draft strategy?

Just seems odd considering the organizational setup.

Doesn't make sense they wuldn't have given all that for Smith and an extension then draft Carr. Also why was Hunt talking about a Dorsey extension at the super bowl if thats the case?

Andy is on tape at the pro bowl saying he would have drafted Carr IF he didn't already have Alex.

Andy chose Alex over Carr

Alex wasn't extended until after the draft, IIRC. They could have drafted Carr and let Alex walk.

My big problem with Clark's comments are that he has 2 guys in that personnel department who are now NFL Gm's. They are highly regarded and you just hired one of them.

It just seems like Clark didn't like John Dorsey. Guy and his staff built a great roster and I don't know how Clark could make garbage statements like he needed the personnel side to match the coaching.

I also don't know if this was stewing since early this year why they let Ballard go.

I'd be willing to bet they were talking extension ever since they had given up 2 second round picks for the guy. It was obvious once the trade was made he wasn't a rent-a-player especially with how he played at the end of 13' and in the playoffs. I'm not buying the Carr theory.
