This says 12.

Also now I know why the Colts didn't ask for money back from Luck and gave Brissett a deal, without those things they were going to be dangerously close to not spending up to the floor.

Any casual fan who claims to fully understand a team’s cap space is full of shit

There were cap listings that had us in the 20s, obviously McCoy's deal is on there but if you believed those listings from a month ago we went from 25 to 12.

Probably had to pay Chris Jones’s cock too

overthecap.com shows us at $15,471,706 and 12th best for space in the NFL. Colts first with $51,550,102.

I do not see McCoy's contracts listed in the list of Chiefs players but McCoy $4 M (reported), Allen $2,260,000, Claiborne $ 3,245,882, Thomas $607,059, Rankin $634,000 and Moore $645,000.

We are paying $16 M in dead money for 7 players, Berry, Houston, Hunt, Murray, Chesson, Ehinger, and Eligwe. Hyde is listed at $900,000 and Custis another $104,000 of dead money.

So looks like that would be the extra spending.

RB LeSean McCoy - $4 M (reported)
OL Jeff Allen - $2,260,000
CB Morris Claiborne - $3,245,882
WR De’Anthony Thomas - $607,059
OL Martinas Rankin - $634,000
QB Matt Moore - $645,000.

RB Carlos Hyde - $900,000 dead money
WR Jamal Custis - $104,000 dead money

saphojunkie 09-05-2019 08:43 AM

That’s over $11M in spends since those days

As the OP said, as soon as I heard about Andrew Luck not practicing, it made total sense why they didn't spend more of their cap this year. They had to know he was retiring or considering it back in the spring.

It makes no sense why they would want to sit on that much money in a year where most had predicted them in the top 4 in the AFC.

With that said, we have a little room to add a CB if one comes available.

It is hard to add that all up and be exact because we saved some money by trading Hyde, Jeff Allen has been cut and then re-signed.

Anyway in general you can see where the money went.

It costs money to run an NFL team. That's why every team wants several million of extra cap space to put the final touches in creating their roster.

We have 14mil in dead money between Houston and Haglund

Mecca 09-05-2019 09:10 AM

This is a good question, essentially the team is carrying 25 extra contracts from that 22 mil we saw before. Before only the top 51 counted, now we have the final 2 of the 53, 9 on IR,2 on suspended list,2 on NFI and 10 practice squad players. Amongst those we added 3 mil for Shady https://t.co/UZ6HXP2cY0
— ChiefBearcat (@Chief_Bearcat) September 5, 2019
