Well this could be interesting...

smithandrew051 05-26-2023 11:05 AM

I’m in

Dante84 05-26-2023 11:05 AM

Get filthy with it Veach.

Mr_Tomahawk 05-26-2023 11:05 AM

LOL

Mecca 05-26-2023 11:06 AM

This time of year I'd be shocked if he signs more than a 1 year deal, his best chance to put up a big year and get 1 more pay day is honestly here or Buffalo.

Need Chris Jones to sign an extension and then we’ve got money to spend.

It’s us or Buffalo.

Quesadilla Joe 05-26-2023 11:08 AM

The Chiefs will try to lowball him and he’ll wind up somewhere else. Buffalo? Carolina?

Dunerdr 05-26-2023 11:09 AM

IN!

Carolina would literally be like where he just was, that'd make no sense.

dlphg9 05-26-2023 11:09 AM

Now I'd be interested

chiefs1111 05-26-2023 11:10 AM

Will probably end up in Buffalo now

ptlyon 05-26-2023 11:10 AM

We sign this POS yet?

staylor26 05-26-2023 11:10 AM

He'll be a Bill.

smithandrew051 05-26-2023 11:10 AM

If we sign him, it’s a homerun.

If he goes elsewhere, it doesn’t matter because he sucks anyway.

ToxSocks 05-26-2023 11:10 AM

He'll be a Bill or a Raven.

Buffalo doesn't have anymore cap room than we do..this time of year very few teams have cap space.

I don't buy that a team that signed Beckham and used a 1 on a WR after using another 1 on a WR 2 years ago is just gonna go sign yet another WR.

If Hopkins is angling for 1 more payday that'd be a bad spot for him.

Titty Meat 05-26-2023 11:12 AM

Lets gooo

ToxSocks 05-26-2023 11:12 AM

He's likely going to Buffalo and it'll be another offseason where we hear incessantly about how the rest of the AFC has caught up to the Chiefs.

Wilson8 05-26-2023 11:12 AM

Great! This should be interesting.

If Chiefs want him, I hope they had a new Chris Jones contract waiting to be signed.

DJ's left nut 05-26-2023 11:13 AM

Gotta figure Veach will go talk to the Bank of Mahomes about bonusing out a little more of that base salary...

They’re going to put as much talent as they can around Jackson. Having your top 3 be Hopkins, OBJ and Flowers does that.

Mecca 05-26-2023 11:13 AM

In reality he's exactly what the WR room is missing, a known proven commodity with a high floor.

It's bad for Hopkins though unless they're giving him big bucks, here or Buffalo provides a much better chance at a big season and 1 more good contract.

In Baltimore he has a shitty throwing QB and a deeper receiver room.

The Franchise 05-26-2023 11:14 AM

I’d much rather have him over guys like Watson or Ross.

Hopkins
Toney
MVS
Moore
Rice
James

Yeah but, it's the Ravens.

They'll play OBJ and Hopkins outside with Zay in the slot and as the gadget guy and tell the rest of their WR's that they already think little of to pound sand.

It will be about the money. Ravens :)

He's the thing we lack in the room, a high floor consistent player.

At no draft cost, and likely a cheap, one year deal, even I'm interested.

tyecopeland 05-26-2023 11:16 AM

Let's get this done. I wasn't interested with having to trade for him and pay his contract. A one year incentive laden deal giving up no trade capital. Let's ****ing go.

Skyy God 05-26-2023 11:17 AM

I’d take him on a JJSS, incentive-laden 1 year deal.

staylor26 05-26-2023 11:17 AM

One thing to keep in mind about the Bills though, Diggs is skipping OTAs, so have to wonder if he'd be pissed about them signing Hopkins. Not sure if his reason for skipping and showing signs of being disgruntled is about money though.

That ended up costing the Chiefs $13M.

Even if the deal is incentive laden, you still have to figure those incentives into the cap.

I don't care how good their receivers are, Jackson is not a good enough passer to take advantage of it.

But if you make them UTBE (unlikely to be earned) incentives...they hit the cap next year. That's what Juju's contract was.

BWillie 05-26-2023 11:19 AM

At his age though I imagine hes looking for a two year deal

Disagree.

Sure, he couldn't take advantage of it the way a Mahomes or Allen etc could, but they'll certainly elevate his game beyond what they've been.

I'm not sure Hopkins would see the Ravens as a good fit for him, Beckham went there because they offered the most money period.

Hopkins is in a spot where he signs 1 year in the right spot he can get paid next year.

RunKC 05-26-2023 11:20 AM

I’m sure we’ll reach out but at the end of the day he’ll be a Bill. Von Miller is pretty close to him and I believe he trains with him too.

Ravens - $11,757,827 Cap space

Question is, does he chase the money or the ring. Time will tell

The Franchise 05-26-2023 11:20 AM

Hopkins makes total sense for the Ravens. He's the kind of WR you want around a QB like Jackson. Someone who can make the tough catches and can snag errant passes out of the air.

I think fans seriously underestimate how popular Jackson is in the league and with players.

They’ve been aggressive this offseason and have the second most cap space in the league. Indy could make sense too as they have a lot of cap space and a need at WR.

A big reason Hopkins wasn’t traded was attributed to him being unwilling to take a pay cut in a trade. Both KC and Buffalo would have to create space to make it work.

The Ravens are a contender with a franchise QB.

Players will view them as every bit as likely to win a ring than the Chiefs.

The Franchise 05-26-2023 11:21 AM

Honestly, he's the kind of WR that I would offer a 2 or 3 year deal if he'll take it. Low cap hit this year with an out in the 2nd or 3rd year if he wants to hit FA again. Next year MVS will be gone and it would still give us Hopkins, Toney, Moore and Rice as your top 4.

Hmm. This happens literally two days after ARI FO tells the local media that Hopkins is an important part of the team and will be a Card in 2023.

When you're a former league MVP and wildly popular.

Like i said, the league views Lamar differently than Chiefs fans.

Mecca 05-26-2023 11:23 AM

I mean not to be a dick but I have a hard time calling someone a franchise QB when they aren't even the best QB in their division.

That term is thrown around way to much, apparently there are 14 franchise QB's these days.

Franchise QB has nothing to do with being the best in the division.
