Yes it does. And I've been told that SF is riddled with injuries, so if we can go into the bye with another W, the latter half the season looks to be an order of magnitude easier.

49ers defense will be tough. They're fast, strong, active. I'd imagine Bosa will be harder to deal with than Von Miller and our backs won't have much room to work with Warner roaming.

This game will likely go how we make Garropolo go. If he plays well, it'll be a close match. If we make him uncomfortable, we should be able to win by a score or two.

No way he's missing this game. He'd play with a torn ACL against Wylie or OBJ. Everyone wants to break the sack record.

scho63 10-16-2022 06:07 PM

5-2 before the by with the schedule we had would be fine by me.

KC_Connection 10-16-2022 06:09 PM

49ers are the one defense in the league that's been as good as the Bills coming into this week. But they also just lost to the Falcons. If we show up to play, we'll win.

Eureka 10-16-2022 06:14 PM

Both teams just lost.

The 9ers just didn't show up in Atlanta. They will be looking to show up next week. Should be another good game.

Hammock Parties 10-16-2022 06:15 PM

Gay will make a huge difference. Hell, for that matter, McDuffie is a better run defender than either of the two guys we have on the field today.

tough matchup for us. i know the 9ers lost to atlanta but that makes me worry more tbh, theyre gonna be pissed and dialed in for this one. their defense can be scary.

We didn't try to stop the run this week. We played cover 2 shell most of the game and let them run all they wanted between the 20's. We did a good job of shortening the game today, eliminating quick scores and using time ourselves. We won't be nearly as concerned with Jimmie G...

MarkDavis'Haircut 10-16-2022 08:52 PM

The 49ers defense is shredded by injury.

LT, RT, RB, QB, CB1, CB2, LB, S, DL1, DL2, DL3, DL4

Jimmy G is a frontrunner.

Since Kyle Shanahan took over as head coach in 2017, the 49ers have been trailing by 7+ points entering the fourth quarter 24 times.

They have won zero (0) times in those instances.

Largest "after 3 quarter" deficit they've overcome? 4 points, from 12/21/2019 vs. the Rams

A8bil 10-16-2022 10:30 PM

Yeah, you never want to overlook an opponent, but the 49ers have been decimated by injury. Starting FS, Jimmy Ward, just had surgery on his hand. Starting corner, Emmanuel Moseley tore his ACL, Armstead is likely to go on the IR, Bosa has a pesky groin injury, Kinlaw has not been playing because of knee swelling, Starting LB Al Shaiir out, ...they've been keeping their defense together with bandaids and bailing wire...their luck ran out this week. Unless they get healthy in a week, there's no way they can slow KC, IMO.

Thanks, that's great info. And I agree; Jimmy is fine leading a game. Playing from behind he . . . isn't the same QB.

RaidersOftheCellar 10-17-2022 07:18 AM

The 49ers are without their top 4 defensive linemen and top two corners? Did I read that right?

They must be pretty depleted to lose by 14 to the Falcons. Although it looks like they largely pissed it away with turnovers.

crayzkirk 10-17-2022 08:08 AM

Yeah, it's time to move on. The sun is out and it's going to be a beautiful day.

Kinlaw is on IR and Bosa has a broke dick again. They are pretty banged up.

If any team is accustomed to playing with injuries, it's the 49ers the last few seasons. They're at home and coming off a bad loss. They play a very physical brand of football. Much more physical than the Chiefs on both sides. The Chiefs should win this game, but I don't see a cakewalk like some here are claiming.

KC has had a tough battle in 4 of the 6 games this year. I expect this Niners game to be another close game in the 4th quarter.

They're not more physical than the Bucs, they are more banged up, though.

And the Chiefs are significantly more physical on defense than they were last year. Bolton, Gay, Jones, Sneed, Reid, Thornhill, Dunlap and 47 will all wreck your shit. Trent can smash.

We're going to boatrace them. Stop Deebo and they have nothing.

The 49ers just went to the NFCCG with a game manager QB. Their brand of football is 100% physical, run the football and play good defense.

They're got Deebo, Aiyuk, Kittle, and a strong ground game. If they're clicking, this game will not be a cakewalk.

LMAO

Aiyuk is on IR, Kittle has 200 yards and 0 TD, and the flesh is hanging off their defense.

This isn't going to be a hard game. This is a C+ version of the team we beat in the Super Bowl.

Stop it. How many times have we thought that and been wrong. Last year alone. Giants, GB, Dallas and both against Denver should have been easy games but were not. You gotta focus every week and play with anger and energy.

I imagine the game plan will be to stack the box and blitz the shit out of Jimmy grapes. On paper this should be a get right game.

Though i do expect the offense to struggle a bit.

Until they get better at tackle and WR, the days of things being easy for this offense are over.

If the 49ers were fully healthy, it would be a tough matchup. They're not, though. So I think it comes down to how many of their injured guys CAN go and how effective they are.

Is Bosa 60 percent? 80 percent? Big difference there.

PAChiefsGuy 10-17-2022 08:35 PM

Seems like a pretty good matchup for the Chiefs.

The 49ers won't go down easy but this is a good opportunity for a bounce back game after a tough loss to the Bills. Especially for our offense which struggled against the Bills. The 49ers D gives up 2nd lowest amount of pts in the league so a good game against that D should give our offense some confidence.

That and our D can't seem to stop the run again and has zero pass rush without blitzing. Lots to try and fix for this game.

I mentioned it in another thread but it's just Mahomes, Kelce, Hardman, Wylie, Thornhill, Chris Jones, Frank Clark, Butker, Fenton, and Winchester.

Just three years removed, only 10 players remain from a Super Bowl winning squad. Pretty crazy.

Wasn't Nnadi starting opposite Jones on that team? Or am I losing my mind?

Direckshun 10-18-2022 08:49 AM

This game is going to be really tough, and I don't give a flip if people find that doom and gloom. The 49ers have a crappy QB, but they're outstanding on defense and good everywhere else.

The Chiefs have shown pretty consistently that they do not have answers for Top 10 WRs in this league, and they're facing two of them, arguably, in Deebo Samuel and George Kittle, who is fantastic. They're also going to struggle to apply pressure against the 49ers OL rushing four. This is also a Shanahan offense which means it can run you into the ground if you're not fortified against it. I've started losing faith in the Chiefs run defense, but it's not gone yet; if they can gum up the run game, they should win this game 70% of the time. But that's really hard against Shanahan.

The secret sauce as always will be Spags. Garoppolo is a game manager, and if you can wreck him with pressure, you can take the head off the snake. If they can rattle Jimmy, they should win this game 70% of the time.

The 49ers defense, however, is the best in the league. They should be able to apply pressure with just four rushing and have my favorite LB in the league in Warner who is Derrick Johnson reborn. Trick plays will not work on this defense.

I do think you can pick on this secondary plenty, however, but they're going to need to find a way to keep Pat clean. If they can do that, I think they can win this game 70% of the time.

This is a sneaky-tough opponent that this forum is absolutely sleeping on. The 49ers have been to the NFCCG twice in a row, and may yet go there this year.

But I think the Chiefs have more answers for them than they have answers for us.

I count 15 on our Active Roster that were on a Chiefs Roster during the SB. 2 additional players (Reiter and Kemp) are on our Practice Squad

OL - Allegretti, Winchester, Wylie
RB's - None
WR's - Hardman
TE's - Bell, Kelce
QB's - Henne, Mahomes
DL - Clark, Jones, Nnadi, Saunders
LB's - None
CB's - Fenton
S - Thornhill
PK - Butker
