Here was my little blurb:

Quote:

If you want a twitched-up, elite athlete that can compete at FS or NB, then look no further than Nazeeh Johnson. This kid is a mighty mouse at 5'10" and 199 pounds but runs a 4.35 forty, 6.97 3-cone, and had a 42" vertical and 10'9" broad jump. He's the type of player you look at and think he might be able to develop into a faster version of Tyrann Mathieu, which is what I have him as. He's got the tackles, PBUs, and interceptions I like to see from a guy you're going to take a shot on late. Johnson has played CB and FS in his career. Veach has always liked smaller free safeties that can match up in coverage so I see this kid as a potential fit (see going after Earl Thomas when he came on and then snagging Mathieu).

RunKC 04-30-2022 04:57 PM

Well his athleticism is excellent. Know nothing else

I didn't think a guy with those measurements would last that long. I don't even know how we're going to sneak all these guys on the 53. May need to cut some of those one year deals we made in FA. Shouldn't be a problem.

He's got a really solid shot of making this football team in my opinion. He can cover those pesky slots well, and if McDuffie and Sneed are manning the outside then your next option is Baker. I don't know, I'm really ****ing stoked. I know it's a 7th-round pick but sometimes you catch lightning in a bottle and I think this kid can definitely give Baker a run for his money. We'll find out.

The best safety in the history of this franchise was an undrafted punter, so I can definitely see this kid making the team.

He is fast, and from what I have heard some commentators say, he is very smart as well.

He has a great chance to be on practice squad, and decent chance to be a special teams standout.

Wow, its been a backfield draft by a mile... Veach cant seem to collect enough of them this year

So many of us have been begging for D line help, but the regime clearly see's our backfield as the true Achilles heel... I'm good with it, just gimme another solid vet DE in free agency Brett

Various media "snap grade" consensus through our first 3 rounds was an A all around, and I see no point in arguing with it

Veach flooded the second and third levels with talent

Lets goooooo

Not sure what a free safety getting healthy has to do with Sneed

This is the main reason I think Edwards is gone. We have Reid, Cook, Conner, and Nazeeh.

Huh?

Edwards had 57% of the snaps on defense this year. Or 621 snaps in total.

To put this into perspective, that is 621 more snaps than Nazeeh Johnson has had on defense for the Chiefs ever. He has literally had ZERO snaps on defense.

How the **** can you deduce that this guy is the main reason Edwards is gone? Lmao

RunKC 02-19-2024 09:43 AM

I think that this kid was the Chiefs insurance for Sneed. He is every bit as athletic as him. He's stronger and bigger but he is a couple inches shorter. Played safety and corner like Sneed too.

Sneed obviously increased his value 10 fold this year. If the Chiefs decide to trade or not pay him, then this kid would likely take his reps

Remember he earned 1st team reps in camp and Spags had glowing reviews of him before he got hurt.

Each spring, the NFL holds a draft in which players from the NCAA enter into a pool, and NFL teams take turns selecting from that pool of players. The worse your record was the previous year, the earlier you get to make your selection. Each team, barring forfeitures due to rule breaking, receives one selection per round for seven rounds. Compensatory picks are also awarded at the ends of rounds 3-7 for having your minority assistants hired as head coaches by other teams and for teams whose free agents signed with other teams outweigh in terms of contract dollar values the players that team brought in during free agency. From there, teams can trade their picks for other players and other draft picks in the current draft or future drafts.

In the spring of 2022, the Kansas City Chiefs had a pick in the 7th round (259th overall) and they decided to select Nazeeh Johnson, who played defensive back for Marshall when he was in college. That's the player you didn't know about.

Oftentimes, the draft is a large part of a team's personnel-building strategy. Even picks in the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th are viewed as valuable assets that teams can use to find good players, so if you're a fan of your team and you want to keep tabs on how they're doing and where they'll be going in future seasons, you should familiarize yourself with the rundown of your favorite team's draft selections from that year. My favorite team is the Kansas City Chiefs, so I happened to know who Nazeeh Johnson was off the top of my head, because I knew his name from the list of draft picks the Chiefs made in the 2022 draft.

Hope that helps!

Hoover 02-19-2024 10:46 AM

Draft nerds are ready to give this kid a 7 year work 3m per!

Dude is definitely a baller and was showing it big time before his injury. Played like a vet. Very much like Sneed's beginnings IIRC. When I heard he got hurt it was a big disappointment for sure because this guy actually "plays tough football". Love his instinct and playmaking skills.:thumb:

They were raving about how good Nazeeh was playing in preseason when they said he was getting a lot of snaps with the 1s. Maybe you missed that. Maybe you missed how well Conner played, and maybe you missed how well Cook was playing before his ankle injury. I thought I included the names of all 4 of them in my post, but I'll cut & paste it for you. I'll put their names in red so that you can find them more easily:

A quick google shows multiple articles saying “Chiefs CB Nazeeh Johnson injured”. So he has no bearing on Mike Edwards’s situation, possibly a little on the sneed situation.

Did ya check the dates on those articles and watch the tweet that showed him working out? He'll be over a year out from his ACL surgery before our first preseason game.

Again - we have Reid, Cook, Conner, and Nazeeh. Reid, and 3 guys with great potential on rookie deals.

I was 100% in favor of signing Mike Edwards, you can check the thread. I like Mike Edwards. We're not paying Mike Edwards. Somebody will, but it won't be the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ok but I would think his role as a corner has more bearing on the offseason as a potential LJS replacement than a 3rd safety replacement. JS. And if I remember right he was playing exclusively corner in camp this year.

Not at all surprising. Dude was going to play a LOT last season, prior to the injury. Bert knows D-backs.

I was excited about him last year and I'm right back on the train. Who knows if he ends up being anything at all but pretty encouraging.

They raved about him last off-season. He was going to slotted right behind Sneed and McDuffie. I believe they think he will be better than Watson and Williams.

It's ****ing crazy how good Veach is at identifying DB talent and how good the coaching staff is at developing that talent. Good CBs can cost quite a bit of money, so the way Veach is a master at drafting these guys allows us to go cheap year after year on a pretty expensive position. I don't think they let McDuffie walk, but that's because he might be the best CB in the league.

He might be the final solution for our secondary.

PatMahomesIsGod 06-11-2024 07:41 AM

He’ll have opposing receivers gassed by the 4th quarter.

Wisconsin_Chief 06-11-2024 08:16 AM

This is your next "Veach is a genius" dude everyone will be talking about by week 5.

Opposing OC's will be Fuhrious at his coverage skills.

RealSNR 06-11-2024 09:18 AM

You can try to appease him, but he's just going to invade your QB's asshole anyway!

Johnson is gonna Goebbels up his receiver in man coverage.

PatMahomesIsGod 06-11-2024 10:58 AM

Man I love Nazi puns.

ThrobProng 06-11-2024 11:46 AM

I'm guessing he'll be effective when blitzing.

Hopefully he signs with Carolina at some point and exterminates David Tepper.
