Aaron Rodgers plans to play for Green Bay this season

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Packers?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Packers</a> QB Aaron Rodgers has indicated to people close to him that he does plan to play for GB this season, sources say. That is the expectation. Many factors at play, but with GM Brian Gutekunst saying he is “hopeful” for a positive outcome, there is a glimmer of optimism.</p>&mdash; Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) <a href="https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1419701759149330446?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">July 26, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Figured this was significant enough not to be buried I'm the other thread considering the trade speculation.

The best part is, next offseason they’ll have to compete with teams like the Dolphins and Eagles that have multiple 1st round picks.

A few days ago he was "indicating to people close to him" that he planned to retire.

To be fair, that was speculation from Florio based on betting sites taking down bets for GB’s record this season.

Yeah, GB has truly done Aaron wrong. Man, he only had the best oline in football, a top 3 WR and one of the best dual threat RBs . But, oh noes, they drafted another defensive player in the first wownd

Yup.

If Watson gets traded, it’ll be the Dolphins or Eagles. Only teams with the ammo to give the Texans even close to what they’re asking for.

Those dickbags believe they can acquire any of these QBs for just a couple mid rounders. Or at least that seems to be as high as their front office is willing to go.

Scumbags deserve Drew Lock, Teddy Bridgewater, and all the rest of their clown show ****ups they've had at QB the past many years.

2. Trades of that magnitude don’t happen during the season.

Dante84 07-26-2021 01:57 PM

Now, do the 49ers bail on Trey Lance after this year to bring Aaron home to his favorite team?

Or, does he head straight to Denver ala Peyton Manning?

Sounds like either way, he and Devante Adams will be a package deal in free agency next year.

EDIT: or, does he come back to Green Bay on a brand new deal if they fire their GM?

I thought this was Aarons last year under contract in Green Bay, but it isn't. He's under contract for 3 more years including this season. However, there is a way out after this season, with dead cap hit around $17m.

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/green-ba...-rodgers-3745/

So, I guess they are re-working the deal to lessen the cap hit? Can they do that?

Gary Cooper 07-26-2021 02:08 PM

As soon as he walks in the door, they need to whack him like Tommy in Goodfellas.

Maybe call his agent afterwards and tell him "He's gone."

Kind of smart to pick the Broncos due to the odds. If they trade for a QB, they could be a reasonable team. BUT - that is only if Patrick Mahomes didn't exist. Except he does.
