Did ya'll know they're finally making a Kurt Warner movie?

What took so long? When he won the Super Bowl, were movie execs just like, "... no, this true story is TOO perfectly made for Hollywood. We shouldn't touch it." Well way to go, assholes. Nobody cares about Kurt Warner anymore, and people don't really want to watch heartwarming underdog sports movies these days. You'll lose money on this thing. ****ing morons.

Anyway, I guess it's in post-production now. Supposed to come out in December. No trailer yet.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Americ...t_Warner_Story

Also, yes, that's right. Dennis Quaid as Dick Vermeil.

I'm not quite sure what to do with this information, but I just thought it was interesting that it took them this long to finally make this thing into a movie that was begging to be made into a movie 20 years ago. Too bad Warner got out-reffed in that Cardinals SB loss. Would have made the perfect ending to this film. Maybe they'll just tell the Kurt Warner story up until he wins the SB for the Rams and then end the movie there.

Midwestern Christian ppl rejoice.

Hammock Parties 06-12-2021 10:40 AM

Who's playing his wife with the huge rack and dyke haircut?

Wait...ANNA PAQUIN?

That seems horrible.

The Franchise 06-12-2021 10:40 AM

They have a guy playing Ray Lewis?

I’d rather watch a Ray Lewis murder movie.

displacedinMN 06-12-2021 10:40 AM

HyVee gets air time?

Hammock Parties 06-12-2021 10:47 AM

OK, I can see it. But I really think she should have a huge rack. I'm hoping for some costume enhancement, historical accuracy is paramount.

Frazod 06-12-2021 10:57 AM

So Chuck's playing Warner. That's interesting. Seems like he's be a bit old to play Kurt at that age.

But what the hell.

Deberg_1990 06-12-2021 11:20 AM

Zachary Levi who’s 40 playing a 26-27 year old Warner at the time.

lewdog 06-12-2021 11:22 AM

I’ll assume it’s mostly about sex since he’s got 7 ****ing kids!

Trent Green as TrINT Green?

KCUnited 06-12-2021 11:44 AM

gblowfish 06-12-2021 09:28 PM

Brenda Warner should be played by Matthew Perry.

Rain Man 06-12-2021 09:44 PM

I like Kurt, but I feel like I've already seen biography stuff about him. I'd rather see a movie about L'Jarius Sneed or Tershawn Wharton.

Dick Vermeil was previously played by Greg Kinnear in Invincible

Beef Supreme 06-13-2021 04:08 AM

Well at least it's a movie they forgot to make 20 years ago instead of a bad remake of a movie from 20 years ago like everything else coming out of Hollywood these days.

Awesome- looking forward to it. Kurt Warner is a great story.

IowaHawkeyeChief 06-13-2021 07:20 AM

Kurt was working at the Y weight room in downtown Des Moines while playing for the Barnstormers, he also played in a fall flag football league that I played in in East Des Moines in 95-96... It is an incredible story that he won a Superbowl a few years later...

How many times will Dick Vermeil cry in the movie? It better be an Oscar winning performance.

RedinTexas 06-13-2021 08:41 AM

I don't understand why people are so eager to pass judgement on what his wife looks like. Why do people care so much? It's just like the things people have said about Patrick's girlfriend. If he's happy with her, what business is it of ours? Players' wives/girlfriends should be off limits unless they insert themselves into a situation and what they look like is none of our business.

I remember watching Vermeil's press conference when Trent got injured. Dick was saying, "We're moving on with Kurt", who no one had ever heard of, and I was thinking, "They may not win a game all year." I was wrong.

FloridaMan88 06-14-2021 01:13 PM

The movie should also include the eventual downfall of Warner with the Lambs, starting with the Chiefs hanging 54 points on his team the following season and knocking him out of the game.

The downfall for Warner occurred more so during the 2002 season when Bulger started when the Rams were 0-5, not 2000.

That was glorious. I was watching it at a bar seated near a table of bandwagon Lambs douches wearing their brand new Lambs gear. Talked shit before the game and at the very beginning of the game. Then they got quiet. Fast.

The table was empty by halftime.

Kurt Warner, the man responsible for the gayest Super Bowl moment in history.

I saw Warner play quite a bit when he was in Des Moines. On a 50-yard field, he was one of the most electric players I've ever seen.

Gary Sinise would make a perfect Vermeil.

True, but the Rams were 6-0 before that Chiefs game, and looked primed for a Super Bowl repeat... and then the Chiefs hang 54 on them in a blow out loss, Warner is knocked out, they go 4-5 down the stretch of the season and lose in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.

Downfall? They went to the Super Bowl The next year after they fixed the dense and hired Lovie Smith

Relative to winning the Super Bowl, which is the pinnacle of Warner's Cinderella story it is.

And after losing the Super Bowl, the Rams finished the following season 7-9, and Warner loses his job to Bulger.

Spoiler alert - the last 20 years of life are mostly about loss. Enjoying life is about celebrating the victories...

chiefzilla1501 06-14-2021 05:10 PM

The Rams downfall was when Martz took over. He deserves all the credit in the world for the super bowl. If not for him vermeil would have rolled with Tony banks in '99. But mad Mike was allergic to running the ball and wanted to turn his qb into a human tackling dummy. Vermeil and Martz both needed each other.

chiefzilla1501 06-14-2021 05:38 PM

Will always have a soft spot in my heart for Warner. Back in those days in STL doing local marketing you learn a lot about the good people and the phonies. Kurt/Brenda and Grant Wistrom were always singled out as being extraordinarily generous. A genuinely good dude even and especially after he became real famous.

Martz is a phenomenal offensive coach who had too much say involving personnel.

The drafting under Martz was not good to go along with lack luster FA signings that put the Rams in cap hell later on. Moving forward with Bulger was the right move but did not successfully draft or develop OL to protect him to replace an aging Pace, Timmerman, and McCollum.

Again… the public had a taste for this kind of movie 20ish years ago. Hell, maybe they had a taste for this movie 10 years ago right after he retired.

Hollywood waited too long. Nobody wants to see it, so it’s got no buzz. And it doesn’t help that it appears to be a shoddily-made movie, either.

Frazod 07-07-2021 10:32 PM

Doesn't help that Levi is about 20 years to old to play a young Warner, either.

RealSNR 07-07-2021 10:46 PM

I will say this though. In the two Vermeil lines in that trailer, Dennis Quaid’s got him down just about perfectly. The cadences and rhythm of his voice, the facial movements while he talks… pretty damn near spot on impression
