Yeah, it's a bit disappointing.

I had hoped that Loki would begin two weeks after the conclusion of The Falcon & The Winter Soldier.

Instead, Star Wars: The Bad Batch will begin on May 4th (of course!), with the second episode airing on Friday, May 7th, which will continue each Friday until the series is complete.

I don't know if that means Bad Batch will have only 6 episodes or if they plan to have a "Double Feature" each Friday night with the conclusion of Bad Batch and the beginning of Loki.

From my understanding, What If? is supposed to begin shortly after the conclusion of Loki and that's it for new Marvel shows in 2021.

If this takes place after Endgame, are we going to get an explanation in the first episode for how he comes back from Thanos killing him?

This. He's one of those splinter realities The Ancient One was explaining to Banner, that's how he ends up in the custody of the Time Variance Authority. Likely they'll offer him a job as one of their agents hunting down other people that damage the "main timeline" in return for them not plopping him back in his timeline in Thor's custody.

Interested in: The timeline, the universe, the seemingly high quality production.

Not interested in: Loki. I've never understood the love affair with that character.

Is that the group that had alternate characters in the Excalibur comics "sliding" in and out of alternate realities?

Whoa, talk about a way back reference! (and I assume you're talking about Excalibur 3000?)

Was that a Marvel property? At this point, I wouldn't be shocked if Fiege had some master plan that involved them as well.

Nevermind, I skipped right over the British version of the X-Men for some reason. I was thinking of the DC comic Camelot 3000 for some weird and unknown reason, and I have zero idea why that popped into my head, lol.

Just this week, Fiege mentioned the opportunity for multiple season of their TV series but he didn't specify which series.

But from my understanding, a second season of Loki has already been greenlit and in the works.

This has to take place in the reality that Cap, Tony, and Scott Lang ventured to in Endgame right? All of this multi-verse stuff might get a little hard to keep track of in the years to come.

I think the TVA stands "outside" of reality(s) to observe the various timelines and make sure they don't get too screwed up. For Loki, yeah, this takes place right after he portals out of Stark Tower with the Tesseract. So not Endgame, but Infinity War. In Loki's understanding, Asgard hasn't been destroyed and Thanos hasn't come to Earth or gained the Infinity Gauntlet yet.

Might have to start writing this shit down, lol.

Valiant 04-13-2021 05:10 PM

Correction - this takes place right after the first Avenger's movie, not Infinity War. Loki is not even the Loki that died by Thanos' hand, he's still the the Loki withut redemption looking to snake power (thank to Dane on that one).

See? I have to write shit down. Lol

It's so freaking confusing and difficult to explain.

I tried to post something that would clarify the TV series Loki vs. Infinity War Loki but even it was so confusing that I deleted it.

LMAO

arrowheadnation 04-14-2021 07:22 PM

It's in a different reality though. Events will not happen in that reality the same as they happened in the one in which we saw the events of Infinity War/Endgame, Homecoming, etc. The sorcerer supreme explained it to Banner. Since the Loki from that reality will not be returning to Asgard with Thor, things have now deviated for that reality. It will have its own separate future now. Really hard to wrap your head around a multi-verse theory as opposed to a linear time theory like back to the future.

TVA is outside of time, they will show Loki his death at the hand of Thanos.

Because they went back in time and Loki escaped, the timeline is branching off into alternative realities. And it seems like Loki is at the core of the majority of these realities.

This will lead us into Dr. Stranges movie?

It could mean we have an alternate story leading up to Infinity War. Is there a reality where Loki beats Thanos? Does he lead the charge?

Good start to this one. Really has the potential to change the MCU significantly going forward in a way the other shows haven’t.

Also hope they do the whole temporal agent thing better than Star Trek Enterprise did.

Based on the kid I was assuming it was Mephisto until the end, which would tie all the "hints" from WV together. While I like the idea of Loki v Loki, I was hoping we'd get a new baddie.

Gravedigger 06-10-2021 09:01 AM

Hence the flaws with time travel logic is that if they're having this variant of Loki, the one that escaped with the tessaract in Endgame, help them reset the timeline to it's natural place, then by that logic, he would need to be reset as well, thus sending him on the path of being killed by Thanos. Will be interesting to see if they try to work around this, if Owen Wilson's character has a hidden agenda and if Loki tries to avoid this fate while helping them achieve their goal. I'll keep watching, definitely a better premise than the other Marvel shows up until this point.

Of course it did, in terms of popularity alone, Loki is one of the most popular characters in the Marvel universe, WandaVision started off slow as hell, too enamored with it's own homage to classic TV and cryptic hints to actually tell a cohesive or interesting story, and let's face it, Falcon and the Winter Soldier are the ugly girls that you try to go through to get to the hot one. One is damaged on the inside and the other is just not interesting enough to warrant your attention.

I just could not disagree more with your take on WandaVision.

The attention to detail was absolutely amazing, as was the writing, score, casting and overall story arc, which takes on a different feel when watching the entire season for the second time.

You guys never cease to amaze me: People bitch and bitch and bitch that "Hollywood has run out of ideas!!!!", yet when something "original" is aired, it's not good enough.

There's just no way to please everyone but I think it's safe to say that WandaVision was a rousing success that beat all expectations in terms of streaming numbers and internet buzz.

I wonder if part of that is due to releasing on a weekday where a lot of people don't have plans and have to work the next day vs Friday which is when people tend to go out and do stuff.

Apparently, Infinity Stones/Gems only have power in their own universe, so you can't take a stone from one universe and expect it to work in another.

Michael Waldron, the showrunner and screenwriter, who also wrote the upcoming Dr. Strange 2, has been doing a lot of interviews this week and it's almost as if he's rewritten the rules of time travel and the multiverse overnight.
