I don't believe after Hernandez that Kraft will bring in someone with known, documented anger/hostility issues.

Recreational drug use is a total different animal, and is probably something he cares less about.

Did LAC step away from football as well?

They’re arguably the best team in the AFC. And that gives me hope for a KC Superbowl run.

chiefzilla1501 12-20-2018 08:57 AM

I remember watching the Ricky Williams documentary. Dude had major major social anxiety issues. Was always miserable playing football.

I actually feel bad for Gordon. I think he felt an obligation to play football bc of his God given talents. Everything I've seen is that he's a decent dude who just doesn't love football and felt pressured to do it. Good, walk away and be happy.

With Berry in they scored 7 points and turned the ball over twice in two quarters of football. I'm just really not scared of them. We were stepping on their nuts in a game where our offense played like shit. When Berry gets more reps in and our offense fires on all cylinders the Chargers will get fisted the third time we see them.

Houston IMO is our worst matchup, and PIT is a wildcard because their offense has the ability to go score for score against us.

It's possible his mental health issue comes from pressuring himself to play football. I'd bet he could retire, live a Ricky Williams lifestyle, and be perfectly happy. It's not how I'd live my life. But if he's happy doing that, I don't think that points to having either a drug problem or a long term mental health issue.

Addiction isn't a little thing. Thankfully I didn't inherit that trait from my father's side of the family, but nearly everybody else did. It sucks to watch family members die off early or rush themselves to an early death that you know is coming for them.

If we can secure the #1 seed, they'll have all road games and then come to Arrowhead in Jan. We'll have Berry, Watkins, and hopefully LDT back, so I suspect it might be a miserable day for Rivers.

Gordon was the Pats’ deep threat. Now defenses can key in on the short game and take advantage of TB12’s noodle arm.

Yes, he has everything problems.

https://www.gq.com/story/josh-gordon-nfl-2017-interview

Quote:

Q: Can you think of an example?

I used to make a ritual of it before every game. If I had already been drug tested that week, or the day before the game, I knew I had a couple days to buy to clean my system. Even before I was getting tested for alcohol, prior to my DWI in 2014, I would take the biggest bong rip I could. And try to conceal all the smell off all my clothes. I'd be dressed up to go to the game. A bunch of guys smoke weed before the game. But we're not talking about them.

I would have these little pre-made shots. I used to love Grand Marnier. I could drink it down smooth. I could usually drink a lot of it. But if it wasn't that, it might be a whiskey or something. And I would drink probably like half a glass, or a couple shots to try and warm my system up, basically. To get the motor running. That's what I would do for games.

Q: So if you get tested, you have a certain window where you don't get tested again?

No, it's random. But that's where the brain goes. You think you have it figured out. You think you have the system beat. You think you know something that they don't know. I've been proven wrong every time. I've tried everything to get around it. Before I went in for treatment, just seeing the lengths I was willing to go to risk myself, having lived that scenario out, and the negative effect has always occurred, it's like: Alright, man. Not again. Can't do it anymore. That's the point I was at. I was like: Do it again, throw everything away. Don't do it again, have a chance, give yourself a little bit of opportunity. That's what made it a lot easier for me at that point in time.

Q: How would you do this on game days?

We would stay at the team hotel and then players are allowed to go back home, get what they need, and then go to the game. So I'd leave the hotel early morning, go home, eat breakfast, do my little ritual, whatever it may be, some weed, some alcohol, and then go to the game. And then, I'd definitely be partying after every game, win or lose. Every game.

Q: Were you doing this in 2013—during the back-to-back 200-yard games, for instance?

Yeah.

Q: How many of your games would you estimate that you had something in your system for?

Every game. Probably every game of my career.

Q: Including college?

Definitely college.

FWIW, he doesn't have a noodle arm, he has a serious lack of deep threats. Gordon was a very good WR with us, but wasn't a deep threat in the style of a Randy Moss or Brandin Cooks.

Anyway, Patriots are pretty healthy this year, but not much appears to be going right for them. They have gone from great to just good, and "good" seems unlikely to get them very far in the playoffs. Maybe they somehow catch lightning in a bottle over the next 6 weeks or whatever, but seems pretty damn unlikely.

Well, "the Brady we're used to" came back after the Patriots' bye in Week 11. Even if we include Sunday's relatively mediocre performance at the Pittsburgh Steelers, Brady has been the best quarterback in the league since Week 12, according to both ESPN QBR (80.9) and Football Outsiders passing DVOA (39.4 percent).

He's actually been primarily focused on taking picks away from teams for BS reasons rather than awarding extras. See, also, Chiefs 2016 3rd round pick and 2017 6th round pick.

On the subject of blown careers...

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...id/2375960002/

Ex-NFL WR Dorial Green-Beckham arrested with pound of marijuana, police say

Police say former NFL wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham was arrested Wednesday night in Springfield, Missouri, after he was caught with a pound of marijuana.

Green-Beckham, 25, was booked into the jail just after 3 a.m. Thursday.

Springfield police spokeswoman Jasmine Bailey said the department's Special Response Team served a warrant Wednesday night at a home in the 600 block of East Grand Street.

Bailey said Green-Beckham was in the home but fled when officers arrived, diving through a glass window.

Officers eventually caught up to Green-Beckham and found about a pound of marijuana in his backpack, according to Bailey.

Officers then searched the home and found an additional 7 pounds of marijuana, Bailey said.

Bailey said Green-Beckham does not live at the home on Grand Street and was not the target of the search warrant. Police say another man was also arrested as part of the raid.

It does not appear formal charges have been filed.

Green-Beckham was the country's top high-school recruit coming out of Hillcrest High School in 2012 when he signed to play football at Mizzou.

After a tumultuous two years in Columbia, which ended with Green-Beckham being kicked off the team, he entered the NFL draft in 2015 where he was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the second round.

Green-Beckham was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles and cut before the start of the 2017 season.

He pleaded guilty earlier this year to driving while intoxicated for a December 2017 incident where he was driving drunk while trying to pick up a friend in Springfield.

Green-Beckham was on probation in the DWI case at the time of Wednesday's arrest

On a related note, I thought the move by the Packers to nab Allen Lazard off the Jacksonville PS was a brilliant move. The kid has great size and character. I think he's a diamond in the rough. Chiefs should have done that IMO, but glad he's not in NE Either.

I still don't sleep well, don't eat like I used to, etc. I don't think we have enough info on long-term, high-potency/full-spectrum cannabis use and the resulting withdrawals/addiction cycle.
