****2017 NFL Draft Thread**** (NO Spoilers)

Let's ****ing do this.

Rules:
1. No spoiled picks in this thread, all weekend. This means that as tweets are leaking picks a few minutes before the selection is announced live, you don't post it in this thread (ex: embedded tweets), reference it in this thread (ex: Joe Slapdick says it's McCaffrey to Tampa) or hint at it (ex: "it's a RB!").

Don't be a dick.

Otherwise, have fun, talk shit, freak out and lose your goddamned minds. It's Draft Weekend. The hot takes in these threads are so funny.

I'll also be starting threads for each of our picks as they are made, with videos and notable stats/takes in the OP. Pure knee jerk gold to reference in the future.

Yeah, I hear your pain. I have a giant show today that I have to be at till the draft has been going for 1:30 then a 20min ride home.

I'm hoping they trade up to get the QB they want, but if they do I'll probably miss it.

An hour before the draft the browns will find out that none of his teammates went to his birthday party.

Position and player

Jackson is a 2nd round talent and we don't need to go corner in the 1st with all the depth at the position IMO

Not really sure why anyone would think he's a second round talent, his special teams ability and ball hawk style is going to elevate him. I guarantee there are teams that have him as the 2nd best CB.

Not saying this teams needs a CB but I could see why they'd like him.

Gotta be kidding, that would be so egregious on almost every level. I'm gonna be really bummed when Foster goes to someone else. It's almost impossible he makes it to us without trading up to get him, IMHO.

Browns might *seriously* pass on Myles Garrett for Mitchell Trubisky at No. 1

Quote:

“I continue to hear that Mitchell Trubisky is square in consideration and may turn out to be the No. 1 pick,” Schefter said Wednesday. “Now I know everyone thinks Myles Garrett’s going to be the pick, and I will not be surprised if that’s the case tomorrow night.

“But I have got very smart, very well-connected people telling me over the last 24 hours that they think Trubisky’s going to be the No. 1 pick.”

The QBs are going to be GONE.

Unless you want them to trade up for someone it ain't happening, and I can't believe a FO worth it's salt would move picks for any of these disappointing QBs.

One of Mahomes and Watson should still at the very least make it to trade up territory. Those other top 10 teams aren't going QB, and after that there's only the Cardinals (who King says want a day 1 defensive starter) and the Texans.

They're not WORTH a first rounder. But they will be first rounders because teams are desperate.

Browns might actually take Trubisky 1st and the Jags might take Watson per Jason Cole.

All 3 gone by pick 13.

Not buying either one of those rumors, and i seriously doubt they both happen. Also, the Cardinals aren't going QB.

Cleveland would be nuts to pass on Garrett for a project QB, wouldn't they? I mean it is Cleveland and all but that seems like a huge mistake.

As much as I've wanted the Chiefs to draft a QB the last few years, I'm in the same boat as you over Foster. He just seems like the kind of player who would put our defense over the top. I never feel like we beat people up. Berry is about the most physical guy on the D. Foster would bring quite an attitude that could be infectious with the others.

There are more and better QBs next year.

If you're gonna trade up, next year is the year to do it.

Mr. Laz 04-27-2017 08:10 AM

I wouldn't be surprised if the only team that selected a QB tonight is Cleveland.

Cleveland takes Tribusky at some point, the rest of the QB fall.

Mahomes and Watson top of round 2
Webb and Kizer round 3
Peterman round 4
Kaaya and Dobbs round 5
Chad Kelly round 7
rest undrafted

So much QB draft chatter probably means they all fall like a rock.

staylor26 04-27-2017 08:13 AM

Peter King says the Cards want a day 1 defensive starter at 13, which makes sense with Palmer and Fitz returning for one more shot at the SB.

Lance Zierlein has been adamant for the last 24 hours that the Texans will not be going QB in the 1st. He sounds extremely confident about this.

One ofnthe QB's will fall to us or at least into the 20's for a possible trade up.

My point is just making a plan to set yourself up for the next year. It's not about just avoiding this year.

You've said this before, it still doesn't make sense to me. Make a plan for the draft? How? Trade back for a first round pick next year?

Who is someone trading up to 27 for that's gonna give up a forst rounder next year? I don't really see it at 27. If they were at say, 15 or so maybe.

O.city 04-27-2017 08:31 AM

If next year's class is that good at qb, you gotta figure one of them is going first overall so getting up to thay pick isn't happening.

So you're left with getting up into the top 5 ish for the 2nd best guy. Maybe, but if the chiefs finish where everyone thinks, they'll be picking mid late 20s again. To go up very high from therr is gonna be pretty costly

Too lazy to see it? Damn, you just have to take a shot.

We could trade every pick we have and barely have enough ammo to get to the top 8. (our entire draft adds up to around 1400 points, that gets us to 8th in a weak QB year)

Luckily for us the QB aren't considered good enough to be top 8. In an elite QB year, we wouldn't have anywhere near enough "of a plan" to get up to grab one of the great prospects.
