The Current Playoff Picture

That Chargers/Texans game would be a great one to watch
|
Take heart RaiderFanz, you're still in the hunt :D
The Pats' loss to the Titans was definitely good for us as it allowed Pittsburgh to pass them, and put the Chargers in position to come to Arrowhead, if everything held up, and the team with the better record won both the Wild Card games. |
WAY too early for this shit

I don't even bother with this stuff until all the byes are done. It's got stuff like the 6 win (and a tie) Steelers getting a bye over the 7 win Patriots. But once the byes are over and everyone has the same number of games played, that stuff balances back out.

Chiefs have already beat 3 of the top 5 teams. 2 of them on the road.
We need to get the Number 1 seed and HFA all through the Playoffs. This is our year. |
Good thread Cochise

I’d love to play Houston then New England at home. I think that’s the best realistic scenario for us.
I wouldn’t want to have to beat either Pittsburgh or LAC again. That could be a tall order. |

I love our chances if we have home field.

I think if this playoff scenario held true, and the Pats and Chargers both won, the Chargers would go to Pittsburgh since they have the better record and would theoretically be the better team. The Pats would come to Arrowhead. |

The Pats would be #4, and would advance to Arrowhead, should both they and the Chargers advance. |
That scenario looks like we'd get a 3rd game against the Chargers and then Pittsburgh at home.

Edit: So it is seed-based. Huh. My bad -- thanks for the clarification. |

Give me the Bengals and then the Texans and then the Redskins, please.

Divisional round could be:
Chargers @ Chiefs Steelers @ Patriots Redskins @ Rams Bears @ Saints AFC games much more entertaining. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Until the pats are dead and buried I would prefer to just not have to deal with that. Let them be the 2 and 3 seed. |

I think we are bound to see a Deshaun Watson/Patrick Mahomes playoff showdown.

As long as we don't blow HFA, we stand a good chance there. |

I think the chargers are a bit of a paper tiger but we’ll see. The other thing is that the Texans schedule actually sets up really good for them. They could get to 12-4 pretty easily. |
Quote:
A chiefsish thing to do would be to blow home field and drop to #3, and then maybe have to play them both on the road, but I'm boxing those fears up as pre-Mahomes PTSD and leaving them in the attic for now :D |
please bring the texans to town. I've seen several of their games this year and they are a crap football team.
No significant wins against quality teams. Lost to the giants, barely beat the bills, cowboys, and colts. Take Hopkins out of the game, and watson struggles mightily. They also dont run the ball very well (a plus for sutton's defense). I'm still not convinced the chargers are worthy of their "power ranking". No win against an above 500 team, and like the texans, have struggled to win against teams like san fran, Tenn, and seattle. |

Guessing the Texans may not be there at all, with Tennessee seemingly on the rise and a game against the Texans still remaining.

They could end up being the 3 seed |
Oakland still in the hunt made me laugh.

If the Chargers are for real, they will take care of business down the stretch.
But they have Denver twice, us, pitt, cinn, and the ravens. I don't see it happening. |

More Colts/Chiefs playoff games are coming. |

No way will the Bengals hold it, so the Colts and Titans will be fighting for that spot. |

Chiefs are sitting in the driver's seat right now and that bodes very well for you guys.
@ Rams / bye / @ Oak / Ravens / Chargers / @ SEA / Oak Maybe KC loses to Rams and/or SEA. Easily 4-2 with that stretch, leaving you 13-3 as a worst case. Patriots: @ Jets / MIN / @ MIA / @ PIT / Bills / Jets I could see them losing @ PIT... maybe @ MIA. 5-1 at worst, maybe 4-2 down the stretch. PIT: @ Jax / @ Denver / Chargers / @ Oak / Patriots / @ Saints / Bengals I could see them losing vs Patriots and Saints. 5-2 down the stretch, maybe 4-3 worst case, but I doubt it. Chargers have some tough games, maybe 4-3 worst case - likely 5-2. Texans: @ WAS / TEN / CLE / IND / @ Jets / @ Eagles / Jax I wouldn't be shocked with 4-3, 5-2 or 3-4 - they're a hard team to project. Denver (just for grins): @ Chargers / PIT / @ CIN / @ SF / CLE / @ Oak / Chargers OL injuries are piling up and that won't help them, esp on the road. Likely 2-5 or 3-4. KC takes care of business and they'll play all their games @ Arrowhead in the postseason which is great for you guys given how they're doing right now. |
Yeah, like MHM said, there are a few pivotal games left for the playoff situation in the AFC
Week 12: TEN @ HOU Week 13: LAC @ PIT Week 15: LAC @ KC, NE @ PIT Week 17: CIN @ PIT If you knew those you could probably seed everyone. |
Like MHM said, FDF.
I will be (cringe) rooting for the donks for 3 of their last 7 though... |

OP updated for week 12.

Need Pitt to beat NE and LAC......and lose to NO.
That's our path to home-field advantage. |

So...all of them. The Chiefs are demonstrably better than every other team on their schedule. If they play the game they played Monday night against any remaining team they face, they'll win each of those games by double digits. Scoreboard watching is for 2nd and 3rd place. The Chiefs can and will nut up and take this home. |
Quote:
But I still wouldn't be upset if a few of these teams drop some games. |
Steelers are hamstrung by the tie they suffered earlier in the year, but New England could give us trouble. They are 1 game back right now (well, one more loss) and have the head to head against us.
Pats' remaining schedule @ Jets Vikings @ Dolphins @ Steelers Bills Jets |
They could very well lose in Pitt and to the Vikes at home. Maybe in Miami, they usually struggle there.
|
Would prefer the Colts not make the playoffs.
Thank you. |

Vikes have a really good pass rush. They could give Brady problems.
|
The same Vikes that have been average and lost to Buffalo at home...ok
|

Ok, so KC did lose to LAR... still can win the remaining 5. PIT barely escaped with the win, this next game @ DEN will be interesting. LAC ... maybe they're ready to freefall? Texans look good to go. KC is still in the pole position and they'll own the rest of these games. |

LAC showed us Sunday just who we thought they were: overrated and beating shitty teams. They only should have beat Denver though. |

One positive of losing to the Rams - makes it very likely New Orleans will still have something to play for when they play Pitt on week 16.
As long as NO beats Pitt, we just need Pitt to finally take out their frustration on New England the week before. Then 13-3 takes HFA. There's a reasonable chance 12-4 could even take it down if NE stumbles. Pitt has a brutal schedule. |

I have the Texans losing this week to Tenn

If we had beat the Rams we'd be one Rams loss (and no Saints losses) away from that happening. |

Right, it's just a silver lining that mitigates our loss a little.
I really wish Mike McCathy wasn't such a horrible coach and Green Bay could have just finished Seattle's season. That's a tough place to play if they have something to play for. |
