They better have some obscure classics like Candleshoe, Unidentified Flying Oddball, Gus and Return to Witch Mountain, damnit!

Don't forget "The Cat From Outer Space" and "The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes".

(Seriously, though... the only streaming service I have is Amazon Prime (and that's more for the free shipping), but I'll be picking this one up. I like Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic, so it's a no-brainer.)

Munson 04-11-2019 08:24 PM

I'll probably end up getting it just for the Marvel movies.

I'm sure they will...they own everything.

I wonder if it will be a tiered service like hulu. For 6.99 you get ads. For 9.99 you get none.

Probably where I'm at.

I had a hankerin for Winter Soldier the other day after I posted the fight scene from it, and I'll be damned if it isn't on any of my platforms.

"Candleshoe", I remember that. Saw is at the theater, couldn't tell you a thing about it. I gotta find it now, I know I really liked it when I was 6 or 7.

Went the streaming route cause it was cheaper and more convenient with netflix and prime. Now that everything is being splintered into individual services and the cost is going to be basically equal to cable im just going to start pirating everything with kodi again.

Tomorrow is the day...I'm already a Hulu subscriber so I'm gonna do the bundle paying an extra 6 bucks for Disney and ESPN + sounds like a good deal to me.

I read online that apparently if you sign up for the bundle with the same email it should register into the bundle so you aren't charged separately.

Deberg_1990 11-11-2019 07:25 PM

Wonder if this drops at midnight or 2am central? Or sometime during the day tomorrow??

When I checked the website a couple hours ago it said 10 hours. I'm thinking around 6am.

I guess Verizon has worked out a deal where I can get a year free with my unlimited account so I’m signed up. I was looking at the list of every thing that will be available tomorrow and I’m looking forward to revisiting some of the old classics. I was disappointed to learn that only a handful of the MCU movies are going to be available right away. I guess they have to let their agreements with other streaming services expire before the movies they currently have can be added. I’ll just have to wait a little longer to do the chronological order thing.

BigRock 11-12-2019 05:31 AM

I already have Hulu and ESPN+. Signed up for the bundle. Cost like $2.80.

For us, we didn't really care much for ESPN+, and it's a few dollars cheaper to just have Disney+ and Hulu.

ESPN + is great if you like hockey or want to watch some extra stuff, if you aren't into watching lots of hockey or baseball though it won't give you much.

Gravedigger 11-12-2019 08:56 AM

Browsing the content this morning before work I can see that I'll be watching a good dose of Mandalorian, XMen cartoons, and Spiderman cartoons this week =)

Disney getting hammered. I cannot even get logged in. In the que for chat...over 30 minute wait. I tried to log in, but it wants to send me a six digit code to verify my account the first time...and the email with it never comes.

I think it is safe to say Disney+ is gonna be big.

I was reading on reddit...lots of folks are connecting. Mandolarian is not streaming for most folks and a lot of folks are barely able to log in.

They are getting pounded for sure. I would like to just get in to at least get the account finalized so when things do lighten up I can get in with no problems.

Although if you did the bundle ESPN+ works great lol.

It took a minute to load this morning when I first signed up and I got the connection error message, but I was still able to navigate and started Endgame up just to test and it started playing with out issue. I’m now streaming Blackbeard’s Ghost I’m with our issue.

Just keep in mind, the more popularity that Disney+ gets, the more likely they will be to remove all of their existing content from other streaming providers.

I had no issues either when I went to lunch and got it setup. So far it is working great and started watching Empire Strikes Back for the 100th time.

Raiderhater 11-12-2019 04:51 PM

I’ve been having some buffering issues as the afternoon has gotten later. Kids getting home from school and jumping on to check it out for the first time most likely. This evening could very well be sketchy too.

Finally got the code and got my account verified. Works great on my Nvidia Shield.

Gonna watch The Mandalorian here in a bit...gonna be awesome!

For $12.99 WITH Hulu, that's a pretty good deal.

Now that GoT is gone i have no use for HBO. Sounds like a good swap. Disney, Hulu and ESPN vs HBO....

I prefer to watch in SD and choose what I watch in HD to save bandwidth.

We don't have that option. We pay overage fees. Haven't hit it yet, but that's why I'm vigilant. With 5 people in the house, I have to be.

Vudu does it perfectly. You can change speed anytime right on the dashboard.

I use everything my router allows. Unfortunately it does not allow me to control speed to specific devices. None of my kids can access streaming after 9pm on school nights. I'm not a popular father for that but kids never understand financial issues.

Mine can't either but that's because they'd stay up till 3 AM and refuse to get out of bed.

I had it happen after a few hours. My son started a movie, went to taekwondo & got dinner. Came back and no option to reastart, had to fast forward to where he was. I did stop Mandalorian & pick it up in another room without issues but there was only a 30ish minute gap.

Definitely a 1st world problem but something they need to work out

Yes. And I don’t know about anyone else, but I have to turn subtitles off with each new movie/show I start. It’s simple enough to do, but still annoying after a while.

Note that the package deal with Hulu and Disney+ does not include Hulu Live TV streaming. "Hulu" and "Hulu with Live TV" are different entities. So it's not comparable to YoutubeTV in that manner.

Hulu is only 5 bucks cheaper and their interface and DVR suck compared to YouTube TV.

Ehh, it's only a $5 difference with the base packages. I tried Hulu with Live TV for a while. I liked their channel selection, but there were a few things that really turned me off. You only get 50hrs of DVR unless you pay an upgrade fee. You can only have 2 devices in use at one time, unless you pay an upgrade fee. You can only stream from 1 location at a time. So you can't share the service with someone else outside of the home. Or if you owned 2 houses in different cities, you'd need 2 separate Hulu accounts for it to work.

I share my YoutubeTV account with family so we split the cost. Not possible with Hulu.

notorious 11-13-2019 10:20 AM

Thanks for the info, guys.

Hulu Live includes the standard Hulu subscription. The way it works with Disney+ is they refund 5.99 of the Disney+ (normally 12.99) so you're paying the same $7 extra that you would with a regular(not live) Hulu/Disney+/ESPN+ bundle.

One issue with the service, if you aren't watching marvel, star wars, or Pixar, you better know what it is you are looking for. They definitely steer you to the big three.

By the way flight of the navigator is an old favorite.

Anyone else notice the star wars films that are missing.

You will never see song of the south on there. I thought I saw black cauldron in the list you can browse by decades, and I assume the others are coming.

They also added "outdated" cultural warnings to some things which is probably a good idea. The early stuff from laugh o gram and the silent mickey stuff before steamboat willie isn't there either. They seem to be considering the appearance of talking Mickey as the start of Disney. They also framed out the other studio name at the top of steamboat willie even though I doubt anyone is still even aware of celebrity productions unless they are real animation buffs.
