What is the Chiefs weakest position group heading into the regular season?
I'll create a poll and we can discuss down below.

OL

Throw a dart.

I'm going to go with CB, though LB is probably a close second.
Breeland seems nice, and Ward looks OK. Fuller is fine as the nickel. There looks to be absolutely no serviceable depth at the CB position. Maybe MC comes in and makes an impact after his suspension, but I'm not confident. |
Toss up between CB and TE.
|
LB probably has the most unknowns.
|
LB
I think atleast Breeland will be good at CB |
TE is a position, as a group, that woefully lacks depth.

If Kelce goes down we're just as ****ed as we were with Harris on the team. |

CB will get the most blame, but our LBs are going to hurt us all year more than our CBs will. If we stay healthy, our starting CBs are good enough to get the job done. Even if our starting LBs stay healthy, we're gonna be gouged a lot by teams.
I shouldn't have been expecting miracles from Darron Lee, but I honestly thought we were getting a better player than this. I watched him cover against the Bengals, and while he had decent coverage on a lot of plays, he seemed to allow a completion every single time he was targeted. |
lb then cb

Ha ok. TE may not be deep, but we have the best starting group in the league. |

Why would anyone vote for RB or TE, LOL. GTFOH.
P.S. Sorry for all the acronyms. |
Linebacker - but it's close. Definitely not RB. RB does not matter.
The Chiefs could literally make me their running back, and they would only lose like 2 more games. |
I think LB is the weakest. It could end up being a competent unit with all of the changes to the D, but we'll see.

Most of our CBS are UDFAs with little or no experience.

Dolphins looking to go 0-16?
Ooops wrong thread |
Can’t be TE, guys. When you have the best player in the league at a position, no way that position group can be the weak spot on a team. Kelce brings the average of everyone else(Bell, Yelder, Lovett, Ned McGee or whoever)up so high it makes up for the lack of depth. It’s LB and I’m not sure it’s close.
|
People saying TE are clueless. I guess they are the same which were clamoring for Kyle Rudolph which never made any sense.
I expect the LBs to be below-average but behind what projects to be a top dline I don't think it will hurt the defense that much. There is a chance too that the group is decent. The CBs IMO could be decent but could also ruin this team. After Fuller, it is all unknown and injury concerns. If Veach was to add a good CB, I'd be banging the table that's almost a guaranteed presence at the SB. All in all, CBs are by far the biggest concern IMO. |
Cheerleaders.

For anyone saying TE, please name which TE groups in the league you would take over the Chiefs.
I'll help you start...Eagles. |

If we lose Kelce we are ****ed. If we lose Breeland it is not nearly as bad. If we lose Hitchens it is not nearly as bad.
The OP question was about the Position GROUP. Sent from my SM-S906L using Tapatalk |

I can maybe name 20 CB groups I like better than the Chiefs. I couldn't name 5 TE groups I like better than the Chiefs. Can you figure out the difference? Question is not what's the weakest group behind the starting best player. The Chiefs are good at TE. They are not at LB and especially at CB. |
Nice to see you still dont properly understand the OP. It is not about other teams and their players. This is about the Chiefs ONLY.

It’s not about making it about other teams. It’s a reference point. Let’s say Veach was gifted a magic wish to swap out one of his position groups with anyone else’s in the league. Which do you think he would swap? If you say TE, your ****ing high(I mean that respectfully).

Think people are blowing the 'TE is the weakest group' out of proportion considering there are usually 2 TEs max on the field at a time and one of those on our team is the best in the NFL. |

It’s a single position and we have the best one in the league getting 85% of the snaps at that position. Which teams would you trade our TE group (including Kelce) for? I can think of a lot of teams I’d trade our CB’s, LB’s or even OL for theirs. But I’m not sure I’d trade our TE group for simply because the guy getting almost ALL the reps is the best in the NFL. |

It seems somewhat strange to me that people don't think of Sherman when discussing the tight end position. He's performed in that role many times and, although he's listed as a fullback, he did a damn fine job. He's a relentless blocker and has very good (maybe even great) hands. He simply lacks prototypical TE length.

Interesting how the people that cover the Chiefs that are on 101 the Fox mention that the TE position group is weak.

Doggie Style then Missionary

Dammit. I picked CB, but I meant LB. I think the horrible safety play last year made the CBs look even worse than they really were. It seems like no one is taking that into account.
|
O'Daniel is not helping his cause about making the team.
|
Our secondary is still really weak. We just can't cover anyone. We will have to do a great job of pressuring the QB this year or the other teams are going to hold onto the ball for a long, long time.
Time of possession to keep Mahomes off the field is going to be the tactic. |
Secondary looked out of sorts last night, especially the backups. Too many guys released a receiver only to find no coverage over the top. Looked like every tackle was Thornhill getting there 3-4 steps late after a big gain.
Hopefully just communication issues and not a total lack of talent. |
Punter. Former MVP had his worst output in his career hardly punting all season. Love me some Dustin Colquitt punts for the win.
I mean how else did Alex Smith get all those hidden yards? |
Do we have any interest in kilo Alanso?
