Terminator: Dark Fate
Teaser trailer....this is supposed to ignore any movies after T2. I'm cautiously optimistic with Hamilton and Cameron involved. Heard this is some of the 10 min footage from cinemacon where the cgi isn't finished yet.
@Terminator: Welcome to the day after Judgment Day. Producer James Cameron returns with director Tim Miller for #TerminatorDarkFate. In theatres 11.1.19. Watch the official trailer now. https://twitter.com/Terminator/statu...846144/video/1 https://youtu.be/jCyEX6u-Yhs |
Please make it stop.
|
im really hoping this is a success and opens the door for neill blomkamp to make his direct sequel to aliens
|
Linda Hamilton looks 110 years old...
|
How many times are they going to go back and rewrite everything that followed T2?

And, not a terrible trailer I suppose. |
I think it looks "better" than some of the other crap they came out with. I will admit it has my attention.

Yes, please |
Eh, I'll see it. I'm stupid like that.
|
He did say he’ll be back. Thought he was lying?
|
This has all happened before and it will all happen again. And again. And again. And again.
|
No thanks.
This ship has sailed. |
Hey sd4chiefs - I love the license plate in your avatar. I checked here in Louisiana and it is available so I just sent the form in. Preciate you :wayne:
|
Looks way better than GeniSys.
|
Shame. Terminator and T2 are legitimately two of my favorite movies of all time.
I didn't completely hate all the following installments but, sort of like Alien, the franchise just rolled straight downhill. |
Someone put the original Terminator score to the trailer. I liked it better.

I already hate all the fake looking CGI and sped up film trickery in the action scenes. Looks horrible

Unnecessary and uninterested.

Thought the trailer looked pretty cool, on my phone at least. |
By most accounts this is supposed to be Cameron's effort at bringing the franchise in for a landing.
He's looking to cap the 'trilogy', close up some loose ends and somehow write the end to the story. Now obviously the Terminator is the kind of property that you can just decide 'eh ****it, we'll make another one' if this one is actually good. But if they're just looking to settle the story down, make it make some sense and bring it home - it could actually be pretty good. If they're looking to re-boot it for an expanded universe and more movies to come, it will almost certainly suck. |

Rewatched Terminator and T2 man those movies were good. The music in the movies definitely set the tone. I really hope this new one has something similar with Junkie XL...
|
This is interesting...
@Borys_Kit: Cameron reveals that Eddie Furlong will be in TERMINATOR: DARK FATE. He was last seen, franchise-wise, in T2. @Borys_Kit: Tim Miller says Terminator Dark Fate will be rated R. |
At first I wondered why they cast Justin Beiber as the terminator.
Then someone pointed out that was a woman. Yikes. Quote:
Particularly 'Misogynists sabotage movies with women!" But yeah. The first two films, the only ones universally loved, had a female lead. Strong female leads are a staple of Cameron period, and it's been that way for over 3 decades. So... I guess action fans aren't hateful misogynists. Maybe that's just an excuse they (specifically the director) are putting out there ahead of the release to sandbag for the fact they know it sucks. It's a marketing strategy at this point, and it never works. I think the directors stupid words assured this film loses money. It was already unlikely to make money based on the fact that we're ALL bored with these movies at this point. Hell, Terminator 3 was actually the highest grossing Terminator, and the lead villian was a woman. And John Conner's girl was WAY more competent than he was. It still made money. It doesn't matter. What does matter is the Terminator is a played out property. In my mind there's only 2 cannon films because I don't care, even a little, about the crap that came after T2. |

I think he did some cheeseball horror movie with Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's daughter (Rumer?). I have no idea why I remember that.

Regarding John Connor and specifically Edward Furlong. Read if you must...spoilerish and his involvement in this film.

Linda Hamilton doing pullups and whooping people's ass was awesome, then almost taking out Aldi's Don Cheadle with a sniper rifle

Didn't know about a trailer, but read a blurb earlier that Cameron is ready to start a new trilogy if Dark Fate is successful.

That is definitely a badass trailer.
|
Ehhhh... maybe I will be pleasantly surprised.

These ****ing franchises, man. Terminator was SO good. Then it just went to shit.
Such a shame. You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. |

The others after that sucked. |

I don’t even remember how that one ended.. is that the one where Skynet launches all the nukes and they realize Judgement Day can’t be stopped?

It starred Nick Stahl as John Conner and Claire Danes who were actually pretty good in it I thought. |
Embargo comes off Tuesday. Seems like this may actually be good.
@AisleSeat: TERMINATOR: DARK FATE opens November 1, but the review embargo lifts on October 22. It sounds like Paramount has a lot of confidence in this one! Maybe we're finally going to get another TERMINATOR movie that isn't a crushing disappointment. Some early reactions tonight. @ErikDavis: #TerminatorDarkFate is the best of the TERMINATOR sequels after T2. Easily among the year’s most entertaining action films, it’s thrilling, intense & non-stop, but also a sweet story about making things right. Arnold is great & Linda rules, but Mackenzie Davis THROWS DOWN https://twitter.com/ErikDavis/status...263110/photo/1 @mikeryan: I was skeptical of TERMINATOR: DARK FATE. Thought the trailers were not great. But I would up enjoying it quite a bit, and the difference maker (vs the other post T2 sequels) is Linda Hamilton. It’s always been HER story and Hamilton adds the needed weight here. @GermainLussier: Terminator: Dark Fate is basically Terminator: The Force Awakens. A satisfying, exciting reboot that’s essentially the best parts of T1 & T2 in a blender. Davis, Reyes & Hamilton are excellent, the action wows & while it’s familiar, it’s easily the best T3 yet. Terminator is back https://twitter.com/GermainLussier/s...981504/photo/1 |
Every terminator after part 3 sucked. .
|
I actually enjoy them all.
T1 and T2 are legitimately two of my favorite movies of all time, though. |
They should have stopped at 2. Same with Alien. However, money always wins.
|
I liked the first one, and two, not three but I've been told to give it another shot. Four was okay, I haven't watched five. I'm looking forward to six
|
Didn't like any after 3 never saw genysys.
Love t1&t2. Hoping this is good |
How ****ed up is it that the CGI effects shown in the trailers don't look as good as what they did in T2 in 1990?

68% on RT on 68 reviews so far. Keep hearing 1&2 are in a league of their own but this a worthy reboot/sequel and Linda Hamilton is great. Being a Terminator fan I'm going to see it.
|
Read a few reviews earlier. Basically said it was a re-tread of the original movie. But a very well made re-tread. Both gave it positive reviews.

This looks... uninteresting. Hope it's good.
|
Comes out tomorrow. 70% on 164 reviews on RT. I keep hearing good things. I'll probably see it in the next week or two.

First 20 minute spoiler:
Spoiler!
Haven't seen it, but the vibes I get from this is the "Ghostbusters" treatment being given to the Terminator franchise. I realize this sounds a big red-pilly but my interest has dropped to nil on it. |

The terminator just looks like everyone else too, not a Arnold type. Strength, fortitude and leadership doesn't have to be in the body of a white 6'4" blonde, blue eyed former naval seal. I thought it was the best Terminator movie since the originals. Seemed to be a reboot. Great action sequences. Looks like they tried to put some real life stunts inside the CGI. You can definitely see some traditional James Cameron type of movie making in the movie. I hope it does well and Cameron takes the lead on the next one. The guy almost always delivers a good movie. |

Whar I am reading is the film has been terminated on the opening box office of a paltry 11 million. That tells me it has very little interest from fans who have been burned with this franchise recently. https://www.forbes.com/sites/scottme.../#1851c5cd5a3e |
Quote:
Yeah, people have been burned by shit Terminator sequels. This will be a word of mouth hit or fall by the wayside quickly. |
It’s earned the title of #3 in the franchise, IMO... theres just enough of that old magic to place it there
Hamilton owned it, the action was WAY over the top yet still very well done, and the original Terminator was eventually domesticated lol... this was rock solid popcorn fare 4 of 5 |

The CGI/live action mashup during the beach seen was flawless, young Terminator looked real to the eye
