Can I now openly criticize the Royals for cutting ties with Scott Alexander solely for the sake of trying to resign Hos?

Another pick for the Royals. |
8 years?
Yeah, I know there's the opt-out after 5 years, but.... woof. |
Thanks for everything, Hos. We'll always have New York.

8? ****ing 8?
Holy shit. |
Stings a lot less when he already brought you a ring.
|
Now the Royals gotta sign Morrison
|
Gonna miss Hos but this is what the Royals needed to happen.

8 years for a guy averaging 2 WAR a season for his career.

Essentially a 5-year, $100 million deal.

Is this standard in baseball now? |
I really doubt he sees the life of that contract as a Padre, I don't even think Hos will make it to the 5th season opt out (unless he has a no trade) That's going to be 5 losing seasons in a row for him garunteed. Hos will get sick of that quick. There is no windows for the Padres in the division they play in as long as the Dodgers, Diamondbacks and Giants exist.

Good luck, Hoz. Thanks for one of the greatest memories I'll ever have with my son, watching him launch the home run in Game 2 of the ALDS in Anaheim. (The Angels haven't been in the playoffs since, BTW) What a night. What a run.
