If you want a zombie show, watch Z Nation.
It's completely different, but worth watching for a few laughs. |
Settle the **** down. I'm not screaming "MORE ZOMBIES!!!1!!11". I'm simply saying that the show ****ing drags and is unnecessarily slow.
Season 1 and 2? Just fine. Season 3 so far? Monotonous and sleep inducing. |
They continue to kill off every moral compass character (Dale, Hershel, Bob, Tyreese) on this show. If somebody starts espousing those views, at this point you pretty much know they're done for within the year.

Now I actually really liked Season 2, but that season was all about character development and was pretty slow. |

But this show has done nothing to pull me back in, and i've tried. Like i said, i WANT to like this show, but it's just so boring imo. So Slooooow. |
There really isn't anything new in the arc of the story.
The core group encounters a new group that is coping with things in a way that conflicts the core group - all against a backdrop of dangerous but relatively manageable zombies. Violence ensues. lather rinse repeat. |

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I thought last night's episode was one of the top episodes in the entire series.
The direction was fantastic - very artistic. I thought the slo-mo shots where Rick takes out the walker was amazing. I thought it was an appropriate send-off for Tyrese. The only question I was left after the episode (and after watching 3/4 of talking dead).....was the radio/news broadcasts. Wasnt sure how that came into play all of a sudden, when I dont recall it ever being addressed before. I'm assuming this was all in his mind, the entire time during the zombie apocalypse? In the talking dead, Tyrese (the actor) made it clear that he felt his character had done all he could....and there wasnt much left for him to do in the way the world existed. He was a man acting as morally straight as he could, with the thinking that you dont get free reign to do bad things, just because of what's going on in the world that moment. I think the point is that his line of thinking doesnt really have a place in the zombie apocalypse......the recurring theme of "no hope, things arent going to change" conflicted with his "this is only temporary" mentality. Thought the whole sequence at Noah's house and the ride back was beautifully shot. |
I liked the episode, though I wish I wouldn't have gotten on here and had Tyrese's death spoiled.
I'm actually finishing up The Wire right now as well. I really like the Cutty character on there, but was cool with the Wire finishing because I get reminded of Cutty by Tyrese on the Walking Dead. Oh well. Bye bye Cutty. Bye bye Tyrese. |
Yeah, stay away from any show thread that you haven't seen yet.

But if you listen to the broadcast it parallels with the zombie apocalypse; people getting hacked up, cannibalism, etc. I thought the episode from a production stand point was great. Playing with the time line, flashbacks, etc. was awesome. The script was clunky and underwhelming. Just sort of seemed like Rick, Michonne, and Glenn were just spouting out lines and brooding. |
OK...so we got what....roughly three black dudes?
one hasn't been on the show more than a couple seconds at a time in FOREVER. two is a dip shit who is pretty much directly responsible for the death of three. RACISTS! I'm wondering if we're gonna see those armless torsos buried...heads sticking out as some kind of lame defense? |
Quote:
I told my wife as soon as the new kid joined the group "Too many black people on the show, someone is going to die." |
A very minor point - but one that bugs me - or i missed something simple? what was the significance of Noah (is that the kids name?) scraping his head while going through the fence on the way in? I thought it must have some significance since it was done - but cannot think of any????

You should spoiler that, IMO. |
I thought he deserved a better ending. Hell, when he wanted to die he beat off an army of walkers with a ****ing hammer.
This dude was Black Thor and he's taken out because he wasn't paying attention? Weak... |

I liked the way he was taken out in the context of the show. But we all have our own ideas so I totally respect what you are saying. He was a badass when he wanted to be. |

My biggest pet peeve about the show is the zombies are always growling scraping there feet on the ground yet in a dead ass silent house that zombie turns into a ****ing ninja and sneaks up on him to surprise him. Bull shit, it's happened a bunch in this show.

However, I think the scratch is unrelated. It was a subtle clue to the fact we were seeing a flashback. In the opening sequence, you see Noah crying over the grave and he has the scratch there. We're led to believe at the beginning that it was Beth's funeral, when in reality it was a flash forward to Tyrese's. Check No. 2 here: http://uproxx.com/tv/2015/02/all-the...-walking-dead/

Nice link, FMB. Thanks for that. :thumb:

If you re-watch the episode you catch all the references and flashbacks. I read that the radio DJ that Tyrese was listening to was Andrew Lincoln in his natural British accent, that's kind of cool. |

It's amazing for me how this show went from can't miss, obsessed to now just meh whatever...don't really care.
It all just feels too "safe" for me...Game of Thrones spoiled me on this. |

Its definitely not just me, I've read atleast 6-7 reviews that are tired of the slow pace at this point.
And they all address the most common complaint of true fans that "all you guys want is gunfire and zombie gore", and what they all basically say is thats bullshit... we all know that the real excitement of this show stems from the people on people clashes. This season started out sooo good, its time to get going again... I was genuinely, seriously pissed that I skipped the SNL 40 thing for that hourlong snorefest. |

I was thinking last week would be a doozy since the relaunch was so slow... boy was I in for a shock, should've stuck around for the rest of SNL 40. But as luck would have it thats replaying tonight, so I'll catch it then. |
If you have Hulu, they have the two hour "celebrity suck-fest" that was the SNL 40 show online. I liked the show as much as the next guy but Christ, the whole show was former cast members and hosts licking one another's genitalia for two hours.
The rest of it was a best of highlight reel that you can watch anytime on YouTube or Netflix. What really pissed me off was Miley ****ing Cirus and Kanye West "singing" when you had Paul Simon there scratching his ass. They did have Mcartney sing but I'm sure 70% of the TV audience had no clue who the hell he was. Anyway... I'm pretty excited to see what happens on TWD now that they're going to Alexandria. If it follows the comics, shits about to go down like a mother. I almost kind of hope they don't follow it 100%.
Spoiler!
|
Decent episode this week. Seemed to move along at a good pace, anyways.
|
I haven't read the comics, so I'm just guessing.
I wonder if Rick has become 'too wild to live inside' now. Even if Alexandria is a safe place and they don't have evil nefarious plans, he isn't capable of trusting others anymore. His dream life of being a farmer in the secure prison grounds blew up, Terminus offered sanctuary and put him on the menu. Can he ever be civilized again? |
Solid episode...finally at the doors of Alexandria. Also nice touch with the rv support by Glenn...ref. back to what Dale taught him
