Maybe someone will emerge out of nowhere this season, but as of now it is a weak QB class in 2025.

Steelers release Allen Robinson ahead of free agency

Could be a low risk signing for the right price.

Which is hilarious the Broncos a year late to the tank party.

Hardman barely even had an impact with the disastrous wr corp of last year. He is a low upside player who they already let walk once, why are they bringing him back now?

He’s camp fodder at this point I think. He was 5 guys behind Dionte who apparently isn’t even good according to PLB

Hopefully noone gives them any picks at all so they have to cut them and take the full cap hit with nothing in return.

They pretty much have to move 2 points out of 4 of keens , Mike, Joey and kahlil according to some stuff I saw the other day. Not sure it’s entirely accurate but they’re in a pretty rough spot.

Another example of Dianna Florio serving the role of a rumor aggregator… reporting a rumor that has already been out there with no new information.

$38m, $36m, $34m, and $32m cap hits for each of them respectively lol

Best part is, doesn’t matter who they cut, there are pretty heavy dead cap hit complications for any of them.

Good thing we aren't caving to Jones and his demands. It would be cement boots for next year trying to keep at least 3 we want to keep.

The question here is 'current quality' or 'past quality'? This is where IF you can get them for a fair price I will settle for 'current part-time quality(still some gas in the tank)' in certain packages.

He's been great but that feels high to me. Hopefully that's not indicative of what the WR market will be in FA this year.

Would strongly consider a trade for Diontae Johnson especially if you could only give up a 5th and extend him another year to lower the cap hit this year.

He’s exactly the type of WR we need

He'll be 28 by the start of next season. I'll take my chances with a younger, cheaper Darnell Mooney thank you.

UChieffyBugger 03-09-2024 08:13 PM

Anyway Pat is following Gabe Davis. Gabe is following Pat too which is interesting considering he's been fully involved in the Chiefs/Bills rivalry  . Gabe also follows Kyler Murray and CJ Stroud so maybe it's nothing but Pat following him seems to be a recent thing just like him following Xavier Worthy.

Gabe Davis is just a younger MVS not even interested personally. And Darnell Mooney 1year younger than Dionte. Dionte has 2500 more career yards and 13 more touchdowns.

Dionte played with Big Ben for three of his five years which is better than anyone Mooney has played with. So I'll take Mooney on a cheaper deal knowing he has big upside than give up a pick on an older guy who will cost more and has had drop issues before.

And he’s still been solid with dog shit qbs the last few years. Hes better than Mooney no matter how you want to frame it. Hes a vet who knows how to win in this league. Mooneys a reclamation project. You hope Mooney works out and is a Dionte type production type player.

Worthy being there at 32 feels like wishful thinking. His body of work in college is far superior to John Ross and Ross went #9 overall. (Of course this is also back when everyone thought Tyreek was just fast. John Ross is the poster child for what a just fast guy is.)

Buffalo fans hate Gabe Davis. Seems to be another MVS with drop issues and disappearing too often.

Diontae played with Big Ben, Rudolph, Trubisky, Pickett

Mooney played with Trubisky, Foles, Fields, Bagent

There is no comparison. Mooney has played with garbage his entire career whilst Diontae played with a hall of famer for three out of five years.

Diontea is smaller, slower, older, has a more expensive contract (likely) and would cost us a draft pick. Plus has had drop issues.

Mooney is younger, bigger, faster, cheaper, has never played with a hall of famer, won't cost us a pick, has good hands and has already thrived in a Reid/Nagy offense.

I'll take Mooney thank you :thumb:

Keep Gallup, send us cooks.

smithandrew051 03-09-2024 10:09 PM

So our DL will still have Jones, Karlaftis, FAU (who we hope shows why he was a first round pick), and eventually Omenihu.

Our LBs will still have Bolton, Tranquil, and Chenal.

Our secondary will still have McDuffie, Watson, Williams, Reid, Cook, and Conner.

All before the start of FA or the draft. Boys, that’s almost certainly a top 10 defense as it is.

Well clearly we simply disagree. I watch Mooney and see a guy who can operate at all three levels of the field and is a quality wideout if given the right service. How anyone can judge him after playing with that list of qb's is beyond me. Justin Fields for example barely threw the ball so what was Mooney supposed to do? He can't throw the ball to himself fgs

thabear04 03-09-2024 11:07 PM

I would to get Mike Edwards back on a cheap deal.

smithandrew051 03-09-2024 11:11 PM

I’d just like to see us bring in a moderate priced WR and some sort of vet at LT. Even a Donovan Smith type is fine.

If LT isn’t a major major need, then the draft really opens up. I’m not sold on Wanya being the answer (right now at least). It’s scary going into the draft needing to find that position.

Add few guys in the draft maybe few depth guys through FA and give Pat weapons , 1 more year if experience for our young guys and this team is scary , while other teams might get weaker .

Gotta be cap compliant by 3/13 at 4 PM EST. Gonna be a busy next few days.

Mahomes restructure, a few cuts for cap space (Omenihu) and very likely a Sneed trade to clear about $20 million.

They probably have a deal in place with Detroit for Sneed.

Their first and third for Sneed and a 4th.

You guys need to come to grips with what this means-

THIS is the big free agent signing of this offseason. There will be no other big-time signing. There may be a small one or two, but this is the big ticket. So don't get your panties in a bunch when you see other teams signing a bunch of guys. We won't be very active.

Sneed is gone. We're not tying up $50m in two defensive players. Not happening.

I'm okay with it, it's kind of how I thought it would go, and we'll be needing to hit another great draft but it's going to be okay.

Yep. The Sneed trade is going to assure we offset this Jones contract with another youth injection / $20m AAV to spread around.

We can look forward to that next wave where BV and the coaches hopefully find the next Tranquill, Omenihu, etc. while we enter the draft with a nice deep selection of picks.

Just give me at least the equivalent of a second round pick for Sneed, a moderate FA WR, and some form of Donovan Smith-type insurance at LT, and I’m good.

I could actually see vartch preferring a 3 and a 4 or something for more shots now that jones is well paid.

ForeverIowan 03-10-2024 07:52 AM

If we grab a first for Sneed it really feels like those first three picks (1st, 1st, 2nd) are going to be tackle, receiver, corner...right?

If what we feel a generational type tackle or receiver falls to #12 or so I could see us package those 1sts to move up. If Alt, Fashanu, Nabers falls go get em!

I think it's possible that it could be the Lions #29.

Or it may be a #2 and a #4.

I think something like that.

I believe so. Probably a 2nd tier wr, but this was the big splash

Just give me at least the equivalent of a second round pick for Sneed, a moderate FA WR, and some form of Donovan Smith-type insurance at LT, and I’m good.

This is exactly where I’m at and I think the modal outcome at this point.

I fully expect Veach to be bargain shopping regardless of the new Jones deal. Last year we got Edwards, Drew, James, Omenihu, Smith etc on good deals and hopefully we see more of the same.

Mooney, Claypool and Shenault are three guys that have "Veach specials" written all over them tbh. Antonio Gibson and Mike Gesicki too. There's so many small deals to be had imo.

Maybe Leno or Tyron Smith if either will play on a cheaper deal for a ring.

Than any one of the aforementioned WRs.

Make those two moves and we can go into an 8+ pick draft without any glaring needs.

Mac Jones is a JAG, and he’s a Jag too

THIS is the big free agent signing of this offseason. There will be no other big-time signing. There may be a small one or two, but this is the big ticket. So don't get your panties in a bunch when you see other teams signing a bunch of guys. We won't be very active.

Sneed is gone. We're not tying up $50m in two defensive players. Not happening.

I'm okay with it, it's kind of how I thought it would go, and we'll be needing to hit another great draft but it's going to be okay.

Who is the big name out there anyone here is still begging for? We need a decent vet WR and LT, maybe RB.

We need this year’s version of 2022 Juju and 2023 Donovan Smith.

Pretty reasonable wants.

We're probably minutes away from guys pining for Deandre Hopkins or OBJ.

Ain't happenin', boys.

I think Tyron Smith on a Donovan type deal with some unlikely to be reached bonuses (like playing 17 games and play-off games) could work. You know Morris can fill in some okay.

I think Mooney on a deal for less money than MVS is a good plan, he already knows the offense and has been successful with Nagy, knows the offense, and is a sub 4.4 guy.

Those are the two moves I like too. I’d also be fine with Leno at LT. Assuming his calf is ready to go.
