'Hamas' Jenkins 08-08-2008 01:14 PM

Earlier today, Villegas cold topped one out of the rough that traveled about 7 feet in the air before it scuttled down the fairway a few yards. It was delightfully pathetic.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-08-2008 01:17 PM

Mickelson throws a cockfuckin' dart into a 490 yard par 4. He has a tap in to tie the lead.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-08-2008 01:58 PM

Izturis is all over Lilly today.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-08-2008 01:59 PM

Mickelson absolutely butchers 7 after hitting a perfect tee shot.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-09-2008 12:14 PM

Mickelson, after an uneven first 5 holes, drives it to 10 feet on number 6. Redonkulous.

A lot of you are probably thinking, "hmmm, 95? Who cares?" Well, I do for one...lol. When I used to play a lot, I shot in the mid-low 90s all the time, with the occassional high 80. It's probably been 4 years or more since I broke 100, so I'm pretty excited and would play every day now if I could.

95 is solid...

I look at it this way...if one were to bogey each hole on a golf course, you're hitting 90 (on a par 72). For someone that doesnt drive the ball 300+ yards on the fly and has a full time job, and plays golf (in a good year) about 6-8 times. That's pretty solid golf.

Anytime I break 90, I figure it's like breaking 200 in bowling. It better than average but not anywhere near the 'elite' of the sport.

I was on a tear a couple of years ago and was playing in the mid low 80's but Im back to earth shooting 90-95.

Is anybody watching the PGA?

Nobody watching this? Sergio tied for the lead.

I am...for some reason I'm really rooting against Charlie Wi.

And I hate Sergio. :banghead:

smittysbar 08-10-2008 03:39 PM

Serg is officially on the clock. God I hate slow golf

WilliamTheIrish 08-10-2008 03:52 PM

Paddy making a case for the Wanamaker trophy and the first Euro to win it in many years. Moves to -3.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-10-2008 03:53 PM

Harrington is making an iron-clad case for player of the year.

HIT THE BALL!!!

Probably my favorite moment from the '02 Open.

WilliamTheIrish 08-10-2008 03:58 PM

BTW, I shot an 84 today. Had consecutive double bogeys on 6,7,8. Righted the ship but really blew my best chance this year to break 80.

One was a tee shot OB, the others were complete duffs on second shots that caused me to lose my head.

Uh-oh. Paddy blows one through the green into some heavy rough on the short side.

I'm a true master of driving it OB. Just kills my score.

A couple of times per round I'll just completely come OTT and hit an 80 yard pull hook off the reservation.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-10-2008 04:11 PM

Juuuust a bit outside.

WilliamTheIrish 08-10-2008 04:12 PM

Paddy drops one. One down to Garcia going to 15.

WilliamTheIrish 08-10-2008 04:19 PM

Did you SEE that?

kstater 08-10-2008 04:19 PM

Did Sergio just hit the stick?

Damn.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-10-2008 04:19 PM

Garcia throws a laser dart into 15, and gets really unlucky.

I guess he has something to complain about now if he loses, though.

WilliamTheIrish 08-10-2008 04:21 PM

Hit it on the fly and it damn near dropped in the hole. I'll bet the lip of the cup is torn up.

Nice shot Paddy.

WilliamTheIrish 08-10-2008 04:22 PM

This has been a really great final round. Tension is building.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-10-2008 04:24 PM

This course would have been just awful if not for those rains. Of course, they probably would have cut slightly different pins.

WilliamTheIrish 08-10-2008 04:26 PM

Slid it by. Shite. That may kill Paddy's chances.

WilliamTheIrish 08-10-2008 04:27 PM

Garcia spasms. Curtis grinds out a bird for a share of the lead. Paddy still lurking one back.

WilliamTheIrish 08-10-2008 04:36 PM

Garcia drops it into the H2O on 16.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-10-2008 04:36 PM

Wow.

Epic fucking choke.

Total course management catastrophe.

WilliamTheIrish 08-10-2008 04:38 PM

Gah! Paddy get it together!!!

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-10-2008 04:38 PM

And Ben Curtis just keeps chugging along with a college golf gallery.

Hope Paddy doesn't catch a flyer and drop in the drink from the sand.

I've always been of the opinion that if you have to carry the water, you are better off clubbing down, swinging as hard as you can so that you can impart more height on it.

Paddy should have just tried to nuke his 7 there.

Either one of these shots would pucker up your butthole.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-10-2008 04:41 PM

Excellent, excellent recovery from Sergio.

He hit an 8 from 133, which I don't get...

smittysbar 08-10-2008 04:42 PM

Played in a four man scramble Friday, we shot 11 under, with one bogey, and two of the guys on are team just picked the game up last year. Played really good. I have a Ryder cup format, we call it the NEMO Cup, our club against Brookfield Country Club. It is the 23rd so I hope I keep hitting it good.

I'm going to have to keep that in mind. I weird out pretty heavily when faced with and over the water shot.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-10-2008 04:42 PM

Spike mark got him.

Pay attention to your shot shape too, because the harder people swing the more they have a chance to cut it. Every time I try and kill a drive I hit a huge cut.

I meant 9, not 8. I'm a dumbass.

Some of it has to do with the temp, and the other part is the wind. Probably cost him at least 2 clubs.

WilliamTheIrish 08-10-2008 04:46 PM

What. A. PUTT.

Shag 08-10-2008 04:46 PM

Sergio just got a lot more nervous, lol...

I figured that's what you meant.

WilliamTheIrish 08-10-2008 04:48 PM

Curtis hits a Mickelson... into the tents.

WilliamTheIrish 08-10-2008 04:48 PM

Garcia gets the bogey save.

Shag 08-10-2008 04:48 PM

Hell of an up and down by both Sergio and Paddy...

Nice putt by Sergio.

WilliamTheIrish 08-10-2008 04:51 PM

Paddy hits a beautiful 5i into 6 feet.

WilliamTheIrish 08-10-2008 04:52 PM

Ben Curtis can get a whiskey while he waits.

Shag 08-10-2008 04:52 PM

Curtis might get a break due to those tents...

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-10-2008 04:52 PM

Two of the most clutch irons you'll ever see.

Shag 08-10-2008 04:53 PM

Damn! Sergio one-ups Paddy...

WilliamTheIrish 08-10-2008 04:53 PM

Sergoi hits hi 5i inside Paddy!!! This is great!!!

That is the shit thing about tournament golf...you are better off hitting a terrible shot and getting it to land in trampled grass or getting a free drop than if you miss the green or fairway by two yards.

It'd be like if they awarded you first base for hitting a foul pop up to the catcher, and ruled you out if you hit a laser that landed two inches foul.

smittysbar 08-10-2008 04:58 PM

Nice shot by Ben

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-10-2008 04:59 PM

How clutch is Harrington? This guy has ice water running in his vains.

And Sergio Sergio's the putt.

smittysbar 08-10-2008 04:59 PM

Serg pulled it.

Shag 08-10-2008 04:59 PM

Looks like Sergio is going to choke it away again...

Typical choke by Sergio.

tk13 08-10-2008 05:00 PM

You knew he was going to miss that.

smittysbar 08-10-2008 05:01 PM

498 into the wind..........**** THAT

smittysbar 08-10-2008 05:02 PM

Damm Paddy

He's hit it out in the Thules at least twice and gotten away with it.

Sergio probably just blew his only chance - had to have fairway there...

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-10-2008 05:09 PM

Curtis was unlucky there. That ball sat way down.

Sergio is stupid for trying this.

Wow. Paddy just blew it...

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-10-2008 05:11 PM

Wow. So much for that ice water.

tk13 08-10-2008 05:12 PM

Haha this is chaos. Ben Curtis might still have a shot.

kstater 08-10-2008 05:12 PM

Sergio ate too many Jalepenos.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-10-2008 05:14 PM

When in doubt, swing balls out.
