I spent an hour earlier today looking for a perfect beaver pelt. I drowned trying to fetch one in water that was too deep, shot one through the ass and ruined the pelt, got bitten by two diamondbacks. God, hunting can be frustrating as hell.

Funny I stopped to help some lady close to emerald ranch and got jumped by 3 dudes in a robbery attempt...it wasn't a good idea to do that when I had the double barrel shotgun equiped, they were all missing faces in seconds.

Been taking my sweet ass time in this game just enjoying it. I usually play 2-3 hrs every other night or so but i'm still only on chapter 4.

Good because once you finish the story it kinda feels like there's nothing to do. I don't even see any bounties left for me to do. Do more bounties ever pop up? I don't really care to find the collectibles or do the challenges. Maybe I'll get around to hunting the rest of the legendary animals I need.

That's my worry, which is why i've been in no rush. And for me, once the story is completed i feel no incentive to do any of the minor side content such as bounty hunting or even hunting. So get my fill in now, take my time and enjoy it while it lasts.

In the first RDR you could do all the boring BS at the beginning of the game and, basically, be superman throughout the rest of the story mode. In RDR2 you can't upgrade your cores to their full ability until after you've finish the game.
I don't have that many hours invested yet, but I find myself having to shoot enemies in the head 3 or more times before they die and take a bunch of vagina tonics to not be killed. Also, for some reason they really don't communicate how the cores work unless you dig deep into the menu.
I seem to be avoiding moving forward in the story until I can upgrade Arthur to replicate the kind of bad ass I want to play as but it doesn't seem that's going to be possible.

I'm not much of a story guy. Is there plenty to do in free roam or do you have to grind through story mode to unlock more things in the game?

There are plenty of random events and other things to do in free roam, (hunting, robbing, killing, etc..), although, I'd imagine the random events would repeat over time.
The world doesn't open up until the start of Chapter 2 so you'd have to slog through some story at the beginning. And at Chapter 2 you only have half of the map to play in. As far as I understand, you need to be close to finishing the story to open up the other half.

I'm only an hour or two in...but I did the gold glitch and now I'm forced to hold onto 30 bars of gold because I haven't opened up the places I can sell it at.

Nah. That’s both inaccurate (you can kill with headshots from pretty much any gun) and contrary to the evolving story of the game.

That guy isn't actually shooting people in the head. You can one shot people with a .22 caliber rifle, and the cores have nothing to do with that.

Bought RDR II and a PS4 over the weekend. Played the first three "missions". Very impressed with the graphics and overall game play so far.

Prepare to sit down and begin playing, the and look down to check the time and realize five hours have passed. Lol

Have to figure out how the posses work. Looks like a limit of 7 players but I don't know if that's total gang membership or just how many can group up at a time. I have several IRL friends who want to play, but with conflicting schedules and all, it would be nice to have a big roster of possible cohorts.

It's kind of scary because they know the formula to make money from the jump this time vs GTA Online. It took a little bit for GTA Online to find it's groove and now these days it's raking in money.

Now they can take that same formula and have zebras, rhinos, dragons and unicorns that they can drip feed for years to pull in millions and millions. Not too mention the cannon and a gatling gun, etc. for weapons.

Well, they seem to have taken all the bad aspects of GTAO, made them even worse, and just threw RDR2 into the mix.

The economy is purposely ****ed in online to push you towards microtransactions.

On top of that there's no friend only lobby/passive mode so when you're out trying to do your thing and griefers with no life target you you're ****ed.

If you're into horse races and death matches you'll get worthwhile enjoyment out of the beta but other than that not much to do.

Community feedback has been pretty negative so hopefully they'll fix this when it launches for real.

The people who just kill everyone in the online story part are idiots, there is a ****ing battle royal for that.

Only for one mode. The rest are with your loadout. Some with big guns or upgrades you pick up. There is even some during free plays, I just did one to get a horse with 20 other free players for like 10 minutes. Other free play is just for you. There is so many aspects to this game. But I didn’t play gta online so I can’t speak to the similarities

It's the beta, I'm sure a lot will change in the next few weeks. Hopefully they disable the auto-aim server wide. Snappy head-shots make everyone 'gud'.

GTA Online had Auto Aim and Free Aim servers. That and friend only lobbies are a must.

Finally finished chapter 3

I'm still in chapter 3 because I'm doing other things. I got the Lion and the Buck so far in the animal challenges...working on getting perfect pelts and moving up in some of the challenges before I advance the game.

I was in three for an extended time. After online came out i started a new save spot and just tried crunching through the story. Still not done, 6 now I think. I don’t like crunching through the game...... oh it gets ****ed up a bit

Tried to complete the gambling challenges tonight, but lost a four-way game of dominoes. I antagonized the winner, but he ran, so I lassoed him. I tossed volatile dynamite at his feet, then shot his corpse 12 times, then dragged him down several miles of rail track before shooting him with a fire arrow, then a dynamite arrow, then shot him twelve more times before hacking what remained of his corpse with a tomahawk until the batteries on my controller died.

I had at least 4-5 Perfect pelts on my horse last night when i went hunting for the Legendary Wolf. I found the wolf, put one right between his eyes but he still lived. Then the wolf jumped me and killed me. I lost the wolf, then lost all my pelts. It autosaves after death and now all my shit is gone. So mad. I just turned the damn thing off.

I hate the autosave bullshit. ****ing get killed with a bounty more than money you got you are ****ed.

I've learned that if I'm going to just go **** around in the game....I'll turn the autosave off for that purpose. You just have to remember to ****ing save when you've done something that you want to keep.
