Titanfall 2's campaign is already incredible. Getting some serious CoD4, Halo vibes. The encounters and level design are outstanding, as is the story. Don't even get me started on the MP, it's crack. This game shits on CoD from the highest rooftop.

It's great for a battlefield game, but really that's about it. I feel the single player is more of a tutorial for all the things you can do in multiplayer, and it's very short.

Not really. It's only like 5-6 hours.

$6 an hour plus multiplayer and you can trade the game in when you complete for easily half the value. When it comes to entertainment value people really judge video games to a much higher standard than other forms of entertainment.

I think the game is worth $35 if you're gonna play multiplayer. I wouldn't pay more than $10 if you want it for single player alone like he does.

Really? 10 bucks is almost nothing anymore. I spent 9.52 at panera bread the other day and I didn't even get a drink!

But to those considering buying it, if cost is an issue AND you have no intention of playing multiplayer then don't even bother with it.

The short single player is really only there to let you get familiar with all the weapons, tanks, aircrafts ect to get you ready for multiplayer.

New World Order 11-11-2016 08:39 AM

If cost is an issue buy the game, play the singleplayer and then sell it on ebay.

So you just basically said my argument was invalid and then took it a step further and said no amount of money is worth paying for the single player only.

ok

Take it how you want. You stated your opinion on it and i added mine. Perhaps I shouldn't have quoted you though because I was really responding to whoever was on the fence about buying the game for 10 bucks.

I didn't actually say no amount of money is worth paying for single player. I said if someone thinks 10 bucks is a lot for a game and they also don't intend on playing MP then they shouldn't bother with it.

And now i've typed way too much about something I really don't give a shit about.

Looking for some holiday games. Doom, Quantum Break, Watchdogs 2 and Hitman full season. Been waiting on that one. Any brief reviews for those titles?

BigBeauford 11-14-2016 06:16 AM

Alright last plug on Titanfall 2, it is now 29.96 at Walmart for PS4 and PC!

Looks like some people are using the awl-mart app and doing store pickup to get it. Otherwise it looks like the deal might be dead for Walmart on PC.

If you haven't played Rise of the Tomb Raider yet, (came out a few weeks ago for PS4) I highly recommend you do. It was out a year ago for XB1 and PC, (stupid move by the devs) so I'm just now getting around to it.
Excellent game. The setting isn't as nice as the previous title, (takes place in Syria) but the story, graphics and sound is improved.

I picked it up on Black Friday with all the DLC from GameStop for 40 bucks.

How has the PS4 pro been? Looking to make the switch at some point after I saw what the HDR update did with my PS4.

I could never go back as it takes advantage of my Sony Xbr75x940d's power, and makes a game like Ratchet & Clank look like Pixar. I also notice faster load times and love the options for better frame rate and or visuals in a game like the Witness. Then you add in the fact that games not yet out are going to be built with a PS4 pro patch built in, improved VR experience, & Netflix in 4K and it's a no brainer for me. I put my OG PS4 in the kids playroom and haven't looked back.

One note- as an early adopter there were some kinks to work out with settings between the tv and the pro, but with those handled I couldn't imagine going back.

Big thanks for helping me justify the upgrade and annoyed I missed out on the deals on Sunday. I have a Samsung 65 JS9500 which is also capable of all the 4K HDR goodness.

Fishpicker 11-29-2016 05:09 AM

I bought the following games for PC during the Autumn sale on Steam. (today is the last sale day)

Crawl -9
Gang Beasts -7
Stronghold HD -9
Behold -7

Stronghold HD is an update for the 2001 computer game. classic game for cheap.

Behold is a twin stick shooter where you play as a Beholder monster. you use your multiple eyes to shoot rays at waves of attackers. this is a very cheap game but put together well.

Gang Beasts is in Early Access. its a physics based wrestling game with local co-op. (no single player, no online multi-player but both are planned)
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/c-FNp-sPe2M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Crawl is Early Access. it is a beat-em-up dungeon crawler for 4 players. you compete with the other players. the goal is to explore the dungeon, upgrade your character and find the boss. once you beat the boss, the game is concluded. it is short but has a lot of replay value. the dungeons are populated with monsters that the other players choose. the monsters evolve and can be upgraded too.

I picked up Rocket League, and Homeworld Remastered during the sale. Haven't played Homeworld yet, but have been driving around like an idiot trying to bump a ball into a net in Rocket League. I'm pretty bad at it, but it's fun. I watched a couple of videos of the pros playing it, and they just blow my mind how good they are.

Upgraded to a PS4 Pro and HDR with added resolution looks really ****ing great and looking forward to games fully taking advantage of everything.

Started playing FF15 and this game is weird as hell even for a Final Fantasy game but surprised there hasn't been more talk about it. The battle mechanics are promising and it looks incredible.

Doesn't the standard ps4 have hdr too?

What is the difference between standard and pro?

Yes, standard has HDR as well. Pro mostly just offers ability to go above 1080p through upgraded hardware.

Stardew Valley Review

https://images-1.gog.com/e76ef4db272...42a1fed182.jpg

It's time for another Indie! Recently I had the misfortune of buying an Alienware Steam Machine in an attempt to get back into PC gaming. Unfortunately it shit the bed and I had to return it, leaving me a bevy of purchased games I thought I had no use for. Fortunately Stardew Valley, and Darkest Dungeon are playing out very nicely on my MacBook Air! Today I will talk about Stardew Valley.

Back to the Basics

I was a huge fan of the SNES game Harvest Moon. Never had I played a game that took the mundane act of farming, and turned it into such a fun experience. Getting into this game, I only hoped Stardew Valley was half as fun. And boy was I in for a treat.

The game starts off at grandpa's deathbed. He gives a warning to the dangers of living in a complicated world, and being burdened with modern society. After years working the normal 9-5, your character opens the letter and finds a deed to his farm.

The game starts you off in dilapitaded farm with little to no direction. Your only initial task is to plant the seeds given to you at the beginning. The rest is up to you. There are just so many things to do, and not enough time/energy to do them all, but that's alright. Whether you want to stick to crops, animals, fishing, or developing town relationships, there is no real pressure to do anything a certain way.

The game is very simple, with about 28 days in a season, with the typical 4 seasons. Each one only allows certain plants to grow, and other seasonal dependent activities. The town is full of people that have their own backgrounds and motivations, allowing relationships and even marriage to some of them.

Each activity nets you money when turned for sale. Crops can take several days to harvest, so some actions must be planned out in advance. Planting spring crops at the very end of spring can result in all the crops dying out. But there is an endless amount of hooks that will keep you playing longer. It started with gathering materials for a sprinkler for me so I wouldn't have to water my crops. Then I found I could build a stable and travel on a horse. Then I found I could upgrade my chicken coop for incubating my eggs, which led to a mayonnaise maker to get the maximum out of every egg. You get the picture.

An Enjoyable Time Waster

For those who loved Harvest Moon, the question is whether this is a worthy successor? I say it is better in every way. The characters are fleshed out, there is so much to do, even the fishing is a blast. And did I mention there is even combat sections? This game is an enemy of your free time, but I am calling it my game of the year.

9.75/10

I have played some of the CBT, its kind of a funny tweak but just another UI cluttered, asian style MMO.

Speaking of that, Archeage just launched fresh start servers this week that can only be accessed by new accounts, took out all the p2w elements.I have been putting in some time on that.

Let's revisit Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt real quick.

The only game I've ever replayed more than this is Bloodborne. I ****ing loved that one. However, I have got to admit that Witcher 3 may nearly be perfect. I stepped away from it for a while and I can tell you that the only thing I really dislike is the first 3 to 5 hours. It's so difficult to get engrained with a game that has such a slow beginning. I know of a reviewer or two that said they couldn't get past the initial tutorial and first few quests that they didn't recommend this game.
However, if one can be patient and if you like RPG's (or if you want to get into one) you need to get this game with the two expansions. If you do so, you'll have well over 200 hours of gameplay that is in no way boring or repetitive.

The Devs have given out at least 35 hours of free DLC that automatically downloads since the games release. They continue to refine the game and make it better as well.

If you haven't played it, or if you aren't sure, ask me anything about it. So many cool stories. CD Projekt Red is either the best or second best developer now. They're right there with Naughty Dog.

Have been debating whether to get this and/or Skyrim. I love Fallout, but am not sure about the whole magic, dragon, etc elements of the game. CONVINCE ME GODDAMNIT

Indian Chief 12-24-2016 07:36 AM

It's funny that you said what you just did about The Witcher 3. I played the tutorial and did the first quest and it really didn't grab me. I do plan to go back but I was starting to wonder why everyone was crazy about it.

I played Skyrim on PS3 and logged about 120 hours on it. Think of it as Fallout in a medieval setting. I had the most fun playing a warrior with a 2 handed sword. I never really got into playing a mage.

There are no dragons in Witcher 3. It is a pretty gritty setting more akin to fantasy WWI than your normal fantasy setting. It does have monsters, elves, and magic but not like your typical fantasy setting. It is closer to Dragon Age: Origins than Skyrim which is more of a typical fantasy setting.

The really only disappointing thing in Witcher 3 is that Roche is less badass on screen than he was in Witcher 2.

Fishpicker 12-26-2016 06:27 AM

I received Total War: Warhammer as a Xmas gift. I've played a dozen hours already and really like it. it seems harder than the average TW game. I will probably play a campaign or 2 and then get an overhaul mod and play some more campaigns.

first impression: 8/10

I liked TW:shogun2 a lot but it would slow down on my computer. Warhammer runs great on the same PC. I have the candy turned up and it runs pretty smooth. I get minor slowdown in huge battles.

Oh and just an FYI. You can now do a NG+ mode. You have to download the file from the PS Store (or their website if you're on PC).
It's awesome. Keep all your gear etc.

Yes I do! I got into nursing school, so I don't play nearly as much as I used to. I played a lot of the dlc but stopped at the second one. Runewright introduced in (if that makes any sense?)

I have a few gift cards for the PlayStation store. I'm really considering Witcher 3. :):):)

You won't be disappointed. Just be patient with it. If I were you, check out some story summaries for Witcher 1 and 2 on YouTube. You don't have to but I did so a few weeks back and a lot of things came to light that I didn't know.

I really hope CDPR is making a fourth installment.

The PlayStation Store has it on sale..
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - $15.99
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Blood and Wine - $12.99
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Hearts of Stone - $6.49
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition - $24.99

Are the expansions worth the money?

ThaVirus 12-30-2016 02:03 PM

Wow, $24.99 for the complete edition? I saw it the other day and thought the $24.99 price was for the base game itself.

Shit, I'm backlogged all to shit but I'll jump on that for that price all day.

Well, no. I wasn't answering your question but asking my own.

I've never played Witcher 3 but I've heard great things.

Well, I haven't looked at previous prices. This info is from a subreddit called r/PS4Deals.

Mother****erJones 12-31-2016 12:04 AM

I spent like $70 on it altogether. Worth every penny back when I did first buy it all when it released

GloucesterChief 12-31-2016 04:41 PM

You can get the Shadowrun collection on steam for 7.50. Includes Returns, Dragonfall, and Hong Kong.

Mother****erJones 01-01-2017 01:45 AM

I got the 16 MLB the show for 11 bucks. **** it. Good enough for me.

Absolutely. Hearts of stone is a better story but bloodnand wine is beautiful. They made a completely different world for it. Very colorful and bright while the former is dark and ominous.
Both of them extend the game by 50+ hours total, more if you like to play a lot of side quests which I recommend.

I just got a new gaming rig that I put in my home theater. I fired up Witcher 3 on max settings and wowsers, beautiful game. Also jacked up the settings on Shadow of Mordor and GTA V and those look amazing as well.

Will GTAV ever be on the lower side of $20?

Good Lord. I've never seen a game maintain high value for so long.

I learned through Reddit that GTA V is on sale at Game Stop for $30 and includes 3.5m of the online money which is supposedly $50 regularly. The coupon code is on the receipt. What people are doing is buying the game, copying the code, returning the game, and repeating. I don't know how the online part of GTA V works, but Rockstar really did a bang up job of deflating their currency!

Demonpenz 01-04-2017 05:43 PM

Mother ****ing Jones you can add me demonpenz if you want to play the show together. I got madden 17 battle front and NBA 2k17 if you want to ball.

I've never seen a game get the day/night cycles so perfect. The sunsets are beautiful.

The lowest I saw it was $25 with $1 million in game currency. I picked it up. I was waiting forever for the game to go down in price.
