Wasn't he using WebTV in the early days of CP, or was that someone else? I remember he caught a lot of grief over that.

I thought that's what he did for a living. Install WebTV. Which is why he was always so defensive about it...

Last interaction I can find with Skip was when he gave me positive rep for creating and posting this image from way back when Clay was obsessed with Geno Smith in 2013.

Skip Towne was an older, grumpier version of Dane McCloud.

Both left town in a huff.

Skip made it ok to be an ass to people on CP. As did Dane.

IMO, those two are the Godfathers of CP culture. (I know i said that already, but it sounds cool in my head)

I was never in the fray, so I always was able to enjoy grouchy old man vs. noob from the sidelines.

I kinda remember a little n00b stuff from Skip when I went from lurker to poster, but mostly it was harmless. He was a good litmus test for whether people should bother sticking around. Wish he would have stopped by sometime before he passed. Anyone who posted through all those dark days deserved a victory lap. R.I.P

I wonder if Skip ever would have come around to my hatred of megathreads. He LOVED his 100+ post threads back in the day, but these days it seems like people would rather have giant threads than small threads.

Then by all accounts he past away when ku were natty Champs. That's how I would want to go out.
