I might have to make a banana stew

Actually, it sounds sorta like a Sauerbraten recipe. You need something sweet to cut the vinegar. In Sauerbraten that is usually gingersnaps. Looks like FMB is using apples instead.

Fruit and meat go together a lot of different ways. Not my fault you're uncultured. I think I have some Goldfish crackers in my pantry for you.

Hey, ship those bad puppies to my house. I googled it and it doesn't sound very appetizing to me. A stew to me is suppose to be beefy with chunks of celery, carrots and potatoes.

It will be beefy, potatoey, and carroty. It has all of those things.

It'll depend on the sweetness for me. Seems like the apples would be overpowering. Maybe I'm wrong on this.

Well, I've never made it before. But I often like protein paired with some kind of fruit, and this sounded good to me. There are enough savory ingredients that I think it won't be overly sweet. But I'll know in a little less than seven hours.

Pineapple and ham. Sounds nasty but is pretty good. Pizza and pineapple I think sounds awful. I have never had it but many like it. Especially you all out on the West Coast.

Chicken and pork go better with sweet then beef does typically. They also have subtler flavors and pork is naturally sweet.

I'm just saying, beef and apples are a noted pair in the Flavor Bible, which is basically a book that lists ingredients and common pairings.

A simple yet very effective combination... fried chicken strips with a buffalo/ranch dip and homemade mac n cheese.

But first, an hours long appetizer of vodka... I'll be needing it today, I'm sure.

Really?

Maybe it is a FMB! traditional recipe from before you got interested in cooking. We have two recipes that feature canned soup from the early days of our marriage that we still make from time to time.
