Good question, but I just assumed he got banned again because I noticed he hasn't been posting.

He hasn't been back on that long to need a break. He may just have his internet off for the time being until he gets some shit taken care of and can return. Hope he is just taking care of family and returns when it's a good time.

Individual Health Insurance Plan (Family-3 Person) = $400/mo.

Hospital Bill (For Emergency Surgery) = $30,000

Patient Responsibility = $12,000

:cuss: WTF IS THAT SHIT?! SERIOUSLY?! THEY WANT ME TO PAY $12,000?!

One night in my very own suite... $2000!!! ROFL WTF?!

Does anyone know if hospitals accept IOU's? Monopoly money, maybe?

Sigh.

You are worth every penny.

Now I'm not sure if this will work but I had a friend who went to the er and was charged 750. He wrote a letter claiming financial hardship and looked up the blue book value of the procedure. They lowered his bill to 200 dollars. Might be worth a shot Lumpy.

Just joshin' ya. I knew what you meant, (obviously), and thanks. :)

There was a bit more to the story regarding my trip to the hospital and the operation, but I won't go into details. Let's just say that, after doing a little research today, I might be seeking legal council.

It's traditional. IIRC it's $7500. The insurance company sent me an Explanation of Benefits, but that thing is like trying to read Chinese after you stab both of your eyes out with a fork.

Hmmm. Do they cover 100% after meeting your deductible? If it's a 80/20 plan (depending on network coverage and whether you were in or out of network), that would come to $12,000. That would be the only thing I could think of. If it covers 100% after deductible though, there's no reason you should be paying more than $7,500.

In network and 80/20.

The primary problem here is that they didn't catch something on the 1st ultrasound. If the radiologist knew what the hell she was doing, I wouldn't have needed emergency surgery 2 days after my first visit. The radiologist at my 2nd visit told me "off the record" that they should have caught that because she could see it clearly in the 1st ultrasound.

Long story short... had they diagnosed and taken preventative action at that first visit, we should have received a bill for around $2,000 instead of $12,000.

Go after the radiologist and the hospital (as the employer, they're responsible for her actions). They should pay that $10,000 plus punitive damages. Just be prepared for people to literally comb through your medical history.

I talked to an old school mate a couple of years ago. She's an ER doctor now. She said the only profession out there that scares her are lawyers. Think about how much one mistake could cost you. I definitely understand her fear.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do/pursue.

luv 05-14-2013 10:56 PM

And remember that a lawyer will end up with 1/3 of your settlement. So, in order to come out ahead, don't settle for less than $15,000. :)

Thanks, luv!

Yes, that's the plan. I'm not the type to sue, but that whole situation was fubar from the start. I'm not even looking for a big settlement above what's owed, (although that would be nice). I just refuse to pay for someone else's ignorance.

My medical history is pretty cut & dry. The only time that I've gone to the hospital was for Pyelonephritis, (recurring kidney infections), dehydration, an ovarian cyst rupture, (that was a few years back), and to give birth. Other than that, (and the recent cyst/tube rupture incident), I'm healthy.

Oh and random thought for the night...

I have never been able to achieve a good tan just by suntanning, (fair skin... part Irish... sun bounces off of my white ass), and I've always wondered if a tanning bed would work better. So, for Mother's Day, Gonzo and son got me 1 month unlimited tanning at a salon near our house.

Anyway, I decided to stop by there tonight and bust my tanning salon cherry. First off, I don't normally like these types of places because I know that they are filled with snobby bitches babbling about their hair and how they love to party. Much to my surprise though, I had a fairly good experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was very comfortable.

However...

Is it a prerequisite to be blonde and look like leather in order to work at a tanning salon? Oh, and not too surprising, the chicks working there were babbling about their hair and how they love to party. LMAO

Furthermore...
$65 for 2 tubes of lotion and a pair of goggles?! That's insane!!!

Yes, I did in fact pay the $65 for 2 tubes of lotion and a pair of goggles.

I think I might go back tomorrow.

Be careful. A little time goes a long way. If you're not used to it, you'll burn. Or maybe that was just me.

Anyway, I've been hearing a lot of negative press about tanning beds lately. Be careful.

Is an hour under the lamps too long?

Kidding. :)

No worries, Luv. I was only in the bed for 5 minutes and don't plan on exceeding 10 minutes. I pretty much just want a nice base tan so I'll be able to achieve a deeper shade by suntanning.

If that's the case, you should probably lock yourself in a padded room. The Final Destination movies pretty much covered everything that could kill someone, (with the assistance of a demonic entity seeking revenge, of course). Tanning beds, gym equipment, downed power line, bus, shower head, etc.

Sorry to hear about your mom. She was very lucky and yes, she should have sued.

The surgery actually went fine in my situation, but it wouldn't have been necessary had the radiologist done her job. That is what I hate the most about hospitals, (and clinics for that matter)... you rely on complete strangers to diagnose and treat you. Their experience and knowledge in their profession is what determines your fate.

It's starting to cloud up pretty good here. Due for storms later tonight. Please keep the tornadoes down there, mkay?

Giant wall of thunderstorms headed our way now. We're all going to die.

Don't tell me that shit! I'm outside on the patio, got a nice fire going, and I'm drinking margaritas.

**** it! I'm staying out here no matter what. :harumph:

Edit: Just checked out weather.com and that system looks a bit scary. Stretching from Wichita all the way up the border of South Dakota.

I'm still not moving though. :harumph:

It'll be a while before it gets here, you can finish your margarita.

I saw that and it looks like I probably have 1.5 hours before it hits here. That should be enough time for 1 or 2 more drinks. :)

Gonzo and boy are already crashed for the night, but I plan on staying up to keep an eye on the weather.

Stay safe tonight, Bug.

Better get your ass inside Lumpy, it's almost showtime.

Heh. I had already doused the fire, went inside, and passed out by the time you had posted that. I'm such a lightweight. I slept right through the damn storm, too. Which sucks because I love thunderstorms.

Had a slight hangover this morning, not bad and I apparently survived the storm. :)

I'm sad. Got the $4/gallon pas price blues. I want to go to KC the weekend of 6/1-6/2. There's a roller derby match I want to go to up there at Municipal Auditorium on 6/1. It's the last weekend I'll have before having to pay rent again. It's usually just a quick jaunt. However, I can't afford to go on my own this time due to gas prices. :(

As part of my minimum skills testing back in October, I had to skate 25 laps in 5 minutes. I did it in 4:44. As of 6/1, we have to be able to do 27 laps in five minutes. I was fretting over having to add two more laps in 16 seconds. There was no way, and I didn't think I'd gotten any better. Tonight, during our testing, I skated 27 laps in 4:45!

I ran for 20 straight minutes tonight and took a picture of myself at the end of the run and it looks like I'm dying. I originally posted this pic to facebook before I realized how ****ing creepy it was and deleted it.

Bugeater 05-21-2013 10:38 PM

That's creepy. You should delete that shit.

Last night, I passed my 27/5 on the first try. This morning, I got on the scale to see that I've lost 7 lbs AND I hit all three lights between home and work green. I was even slowing down at the first one when I realized it actually wasn't red...lol. Anyway, I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm rolling with it. :)
