I just watched the highlight video again. There is at least 3 throws Mahomes made to Wilson that Alex never attempts. Those plays added up to roughly 40-50 yards.

Completely changes the day that Wilson had statistically.

Bullshit. The play he made with the defender on Mahomes' leg had Chris Harris covering him. Roby was out there all day.

He gave him opportunities that he normally wouldn't have had. Many of those throws to Wilson never get made if it's not Mahomes.

You're blinded by your Mahomes boner. Look at which defenders Wilson beat on each of his catches. Most of his catches were short hitches and crossing routes. Those are Alex's bread and butter so I'm not sure why you think Alex wouldn't have made those throws.

Smith doesn't make the throws at 0:22, 0:45, or 0:58. Not a chance. That's Mahomes just making plays with his arm and moxie.

Alex lacks creativity

Alex often struggles to find receivers if things don't go right immediately

Mahomes excels in chaos. He's no robot. Mahomes can attack a defense at any level at all times of the game. Doesn't run from clean pocket, in fact he doesn't even run when he has defenders in his face.

Who cares if he threw short passes? Alex missing on short throws is part of the reason we went 1-6. Distance doesn't matter...finding the open receiver, no matter the pressure or defensive scheme, is important. That what I like about Mahomes. He finds the open receivers and doesn't run from a clean pocket

I'll give you the throw at :22 because Alex doesn't have the arm talent to make that throw. Alex would have thrown the curl to Robinson who was open earlier in the play. The other throws you mention are complete speculation on your part.

True. Wilson was schooling a backup cornerback. Absolutely owning him.

Wilson had a nice catch against Chris Harris (the 3rd and long play where Mahomes shook off the blitzed and fired a bullet flat-footed).

Credit Mahomes for taking adavantage of the mismatch, constantly. We have been on the other end of those mismatches time and time again

He wasn't "running to his right", he was running vertically away from the pressure and the receiver and STILL made the throw on the money. That is rare talent and arm strength on display there.

This kind of play is soooooo Favre that back in the day would stir up Andy's acid reflux in GB but at the same time Andy is smiling and will take it. Especially when you look at 3 donkey defenders around Robinson and still threading the needle. If that ball isn't threaded 'just right' it is a PICK. There will be many of these plays where Andy doesn't know whether to chew his ass or kiss him and I am thoroughly okay with it like many of you.:thumb:

Right and to the rear is what I said and that is exactly how he ran. You just said, 'vertical' implying just vertically straight backwards which was not the case. He was running right while descending backwards. Look up the word vertical.

Wilson didn't even play all the snaps until DAT got hurt, and still had a career day.

Anyone claiming Mahomes didn't make Wilson better didn't watch the game.

Hell, half the throws to Wilson Smith never even attempts.

Still a little bit raw, but he will get so much better with experience(hopefully). The way he scanned the entire field was very impressive, along with his arm strength and ability to stand in the pocket and make a throw knowing he was going to get hit were exceptional for a QB playing in his first game.

It’s no biggie. I wouldn’t expect that to be completed given the pressure and, I think, offsides on the defense. Just saying, I’m not gonna suck his cock for that throw.

Is 40 yards off your back foot really all that impressive for an NFL QB?

Actually that's a very interesting question. If he sets his feet does he have the opportunity to throw that ball without a DB being in better position?

How many opportunities for completions are going to present themselves to this guy because he can throw it with zip and accuracy WITHOUT his feet being set?

That throw to Harris was the only play that I really didn't like at all. Given the circumstances (1st and 10, approaching FG range), that throw was not necessary at all.

I suspect he will learn from it.

Not talking about the number of targets he received. I was simply looking at the specific throws and how they were made. At least three of them were plays Smith cannot/will not make.
