got the cabin reserved for "men's river week". last week in june. big brother and I started it several years ago. this year it's me, him, his son, my 2 sons and grandson, brother in law and his son, and 2 cousins we pretty much grew up with. camp on current river the first and last night...stay at the cabin sunday through Thursday. always a blast. float, fish, and hit old stomping grounds.

picked up a new kayak last week. 10 ft sit on top. if the ice ever melts, i'll start taking it to a few lakes around here and start breaking it in.

I love my fishing kayak. I really want to put a fish finder on it.

yeah, big brother's had a couple and each son has one. I usually just rent one down there, but after messing w/each of theirs, I kinda decided on this one. looks like it's got enough room to store tackle, small cooler etc.

hope it works out...I'm kind of excited to get down there and play w/it.

Went down and slayed the trout at Roaring River this morning.... Took me about an hour, but I've fished going on 28 years now and I only live like 3 miles away.

Supposed to be nice Sunday and Monday. I'm going to try chumming a hole in the river. Anyone ever try this?

I try to fish every year but the last two years have sucked and haven't had much chance. Also kids have destroyed my other poles so now they are older and I got my son a fishing pole for Christmas and got myself a new pole. Very excited to go again this year and make a habit of going after work and weekends. Only wont be able go much on the weeks I go on call that is every four weeks.

This year I am poised to go fishing.

Excellent, anytime you can get away for 3-4 hours, a whole day and nights even better, does a world of good even if you catch nothing but a beer buzz... out of the house, getting some sun, splashing some water, watching the wildlife... it is a Blue Ribbon blood pressure reducer.

The farther away from people and the main road you can get, the better... it betters your chances of not only catching fish, but finding your own little Eden for a few hours.

If you can drive around for a bit off the beaten path and find a spot with no garbage laying around (an unfortunate truth in so many places, lotta thoughtless scumbags out there)... you WILL catch fish and you WILL feel enriched just by hanging out for a while, catching fish or not.

It doesn't have to be an obvious fishing spot or big body of water either, some of the very best fishing is done in a spot you decide on yourself in a small pond or creek no more than 10 foot across... if theres water and very few people signs, you're gonna enjoy it.

Bottom line... find the OUT OF THE WAY places.

I like fishing off the beatin path. Down at a creek somewhere doesn't have to have much water just enough for me to know a catfish would be happy find some liver on a treble hook.

Exactly, it doesn't have to be a big chunk of water to have good fish in it... 5-10 foot wide and 3-5 foot deep on average nets all kinds of fun fishing.

I went to opening day at Roaring River with a buddy back in 72 and 73. His grandparents lived there. Some of the wildest fishing I've ever seen

Yep, that's why these McDonalds pricks can sell their delicious, but insanely overpriced fish sandwich combos for 5.60 plus tax or so... but now during Lent they're 4.00 even.

Uh huh you dirty jerks, you could sell them for 4 flat all year and still get over... but NOOOOOO.

Makes me want to never eat there again, and truth be told I hardly eat there any more anyway.
