Brewers and Royals two most likely spots for Jeremy Hellickson

Happily.

This goes all the way back to the beginning of the offseason. Check it here with the RoyalsReview:

After our start this year, Resigning Billy got quite an endorsement from Kings of Kauffman

Quote:

The KC Royals need some type of spark to ignite them back into reality. As of right now, the Royals sit in dead last in batting average and in runs scored in the MLB. The offense is dead; Billy Butler is the key to their awakening.
https://kingsofkauffman.com/2017/05/...-minor-league/

I've also seen scattered "endorsements" from fans on Twitter and FB. Not many, but enough that it surprises me.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">The Royals should just bring back Billy Butler. I at least liked him. He can&#39;t hit any worse than the current option.</p>&mdash; Lindle McAlister (@LindleMcAlister) <a href="https://twitter.com/LindleMcAlister/status/887119473257455616">July 18, 2017</a></blockquote>

I can't find the facebook post on the Royals fanpage that inspired me to post this, but I'll keep looking for it. I can't even imagine Billy returning to the Royals after Mike Sweeney publicly trashed him after the great Valencia/Billy fight of 2016. Can't imagine what the conversation in an elevator would be like between them, especially since Sweeney said his sentiments were shared by the entire FO.

Sounds like they are looking for depth in case of injury.

lewdog 07-28-2017 06:05 PM

Butler is likely the same hitter, with no power, that is currently Brandon Moss.

I can only imagine the shape Butler has kept himself in since his playing days as well.

Billy Butler must be a gigantic asshole or something. He's really not that bad. He's probably better than Brandon Moss. He's like 31 years old? His last year he hit .284, .760 OPS.

Man this run is as fun as any regular season Royals baseball we've had these last few years. Don't get me wrong, I loved the relentless, line-moving offense we had in recent seasons, but it sure is fun to see these guys hitting HRs left and right. They're just such a complete team right now (outside of DH).

After the way the year started, this is just awesome to watch. I have a really good feeling that they'll make and seriously compete in the playoffs, but even if they fall short, I'm really glad we're getting a few more awesome memories with this core of guys.

The Hellickson move makes no sense to me. But then again, I am getting entertainment from their desperation. There are 5 teams between them and the 2nd WC spot, he's one of the heaviest-flyball pitchers in the game- not a good fit for Camden, he has the second-lowest K-rate in the game.. do I need to continue? Good lord, that is delusion at its very finest if that's what your fallback option is. Then again their starters have a collective ERA of 5.90 this season ROFL.

I think he's a really solid 4th OF and don't quite believe in what he has done this. He's also 29 and has degenerative eye condition that is under control presently but is a threat in the future, As I understand it.

He, like Whit Merrifield, has kind of burst into the scene after a long time in the minors and little acclaim as a prospect. Need those types to prove it for a little longer, IMO, when they debut at MLB and are more than expected.

Since he has a lot of control left, I would expect Pham to have a pretty decent price tag.

Butler is not an asshole he is just not cool. He is that fat piece of shit that annoys you on the bus that your mom tells you to be nice to because he is reeruned but when you try to be nice you can't help but tell him that he needs to suck nuts and that he needs to wear some old spice because he smells like poop and garbage. He has a fat wife doesn't hit off the weed pipe or drink much. Doesn't like to be coached either. He had the god given ability to mash a baseball and to recognize pitches. In 40 years I never saw a guy pick up on if it was a fastball or breaking ball better.

Exactly. You can sign a player like Dyson to play CF and you won't miss a beat. You have your franchise players in Salvy and Whit and have a solid RF in Boni. You bring up Mondesi to play SS

Why do they care? They're going nowhere and he's a FA after the season. They actually might get something that comes back to haunt the Royals.

Us gaining ground was never an option. No way the Indians were going to lose any of these games against the tomato cans of baseball. The fact that the Royals will head into August in an absolute worst case scenario 5 games back is an accomplishment. Indians schedule gets much harder next month. We will have many shots including head to heads.

Pretty much every game on that Cleveland schedule is against a playoff contender, except maybe the Twins, who really have only fallen out of it in the last week or so.

If they do have a good month they will at least be beating other teams we're competing with for a WC spot.
