4-1 lead in the 8th...lose. Deja Vu
|
Officially the first game that Matheny has lost this year. Don’t worry, only 74 more losses to go.
|
Played not to lose offensively. Matheny too late with the pull. Trusted Leone to give him 2 innings.
Hicks had pitched two games in a row. He was unavailable. Holland will be here in a week to help the bullpen. |

Mother****ers.
Does Holland blow that? |
I really wanted Flaherty to get his first MLB win. One of my favorite prospects in a long time...I remember when we drafted him with that compensation pick we got for Beltran...my dad looked up a bunch of clips/info on him and I was blown away. I hope he stays on the roster this year...5 innings, 9 K’s, gave up 6 hits, only gave up 1 run...not bad.

But, I dont blame Matheny for not using him. He's 21. Pitched in "A" ball last year. He pitched 2 days in a row. First day was 2 innings. Hick's is looking like a bonafide stud. 3 days in a row, this early in the season? Not even Matheny could be so stupid. |

Gregerson. Leone and Holland will help the bullpen. If they are 80% of what they were in previous years and with the addition of Hicks, the bullpen this year should be a lot better than last years dumpster fire. |

I sure hope meathead Matheny doesn't blow out this young talents arm. |
I can somewhat see now why they wouldn't move Hicks or Flaherty for a rental.
Keep them this year, sell enough Buds and Busch at the games to pay for a superstar this offseason. |

Wacha can only pitch through the lineup twice. If he gets through this season without any shoulder issues, thats two years in a row. His value should increase. He will still have 2 years of control left. If Kelly hits near .300 in AAA, he will regain the best catching prospect in the game value. Put those 2 together with one of our outfield stud minor leaguers and we can get some high end help on offense. Pay Manny his $350 million. We will still have a starting rotation in 2019 to pick from of.. Martinez Reyes Weaver Flaherty Hicks Hudson Mikolas A Championship window is wide open. |

As much as I love Machado, he'll be wearing pin stripes or Red Sox next year.

Manny is not happening...sorry. As silly as some loon thinking Odell would be a Chief....

My posts on this are what I'd do to get us back to potential championship caliber team. Not procrastinating on what moves Dewitt or Mo will actually do. However the trade mentioned could happen with Dewitt and Mo pulling the trigger. |
Matheny stretching him for 5 outs is certainly debatable, but the pitch selection was the difference, particularly to Yelich. The slider was starting to hang, at 2-2 go up under his hands with a fastball or paint the corner. Neither place can he hit it out even if he knows it’s coming. When Yadi put down another deuce I thought wtf. Paint the corner with a fastball down, we were getting that call all night.
Then we compound the error by calling the same on the first pitch to frog eyed Braun. Matheny is a dumbass, but those two pitch calls were just atrocious. |
That’s why you don’t shake off Molina. Yadi should have kicked Leone in the nuts.
|
Just read an SI article about Tommy Pham, gotta say I think that dude is my favorite non Dodger out there. I hope he blows up. Check out that SI piece very interesting.
|
That is gonna be one of those loses we look back on in late September.

a loss that we led the whole game, was in control, great starting pitching, offense and then just blew it late. It's still 1/162 but stupid losses like this always end up biting teams in the ass. :shake: |
Waino back and Flaherty back down. Was hoping he'd get another start.
|

Flaherty obviously belongs in this starting rotation. They are not saving him for later. He’s still going to pitch, just will be in the minors. |

Faced 31 batters. 3 hits. O runs. 10 strikeouts. Only 7 balls left the infield. |

Does anyone really think Waino is a better option in 2018 than Flaherty? |
He’s been done for 2 years
|
Get the hook ready
|
Not sure which is worse, Waino pitching like a scared little girl or our offense unable to hit another junk throwing lefty or yet another defensive error.

When Carpenter went down early in the year he stepped up his pitching to ace level. That curveball to Beltran, he was on the mound when l and my son got to see our team win a World Championship in person. Salu. Flaherty has nothing left to prove throwing/wasting innings in Memphis. He’s at least our #3 starter right now. Y keeping him in Memphis, they are saying we care more about Waino than the team winning. Waino needs to go into the pen. Aging stops for no one He can probably reach 92-93 with one inning of work. Put that with his still good curveball, he can help us in the pen in his final year. Next year Waino can put on the well deserved red jacket. |
His FB was in the mid high 80s after the 1st inning. That won't cut it.
|
Took the 1-3 game at lumiere place for about $600.
Paid for my weekend almost. |

I think he's got another 3 or 4 years left in him. Time for one of those good ol' boy Molina type extensions. |

I mean he only hit .273 last year and had his second highest home run total of his career.
|
And I'm pretty sure that yadi was the only cardinal to hit over. 300 in 2016

That is a troll. Most of us are pretty harsh on the team and have nothing bad to say about the deal.

If HRs were the end all measure of ones ability at the plate then Kyle Schwarber had a great year last season. |
Quote:
1) Posey 2) Contreras 3) Realmuto 4) Molina And thats if he doesnt take a sharp nose dive because there are catchers out there that have put up comparable offensive numbers with slightly worse defense in recent years like Francisco Cervelli, though he's not managed to stay on the field and Molina has like 1000 more innings since Cervelli has been a Pirate. Austin Barnes appears to be a good catcher as well but I have no clue what the **** the Dodgers are trying to pull over there with Grandal. |
My phone says it's 29° out. I wouldn't mind them delaying the start of this game an hour or two :|
The flag off the downtown Hilton is steadily waving horizontal too. 36° at first pitch. |
Walk-a so far.

Carpenter sub .200 outside of the leadoffspot yet again....pathetic

Ozuna seems like a pretty good dude. I know it's his 2nd home game, but he was super interactive with fans between innings while warming up.
