They were fun, I guess, in a douchy obnoxious sort of way, but God were they annoying. Every time the Eagles got a first down they turned around and did this. The Alex-led Chiefs trailed for much of the game, and as the clock ran down they became more and more insufferable. Then we came back and won, and they vanished like farts in the wind.

I hope they were at the Super Bowl yesterday. :)

Reminds me of the time I went to Qualcomm and sat behind similar douches. After every incomplete by Mark Castle the dude turned around and said "nice pass, suck ass!"

I was in Boston during that game and had a hell of a time finding a place to watch the game because the Patriots were playing at the same time. I finally found a place that had it and started watching right about the time CJ got an interception that set us up near the red zone. I was cheering pretty loud when Kelce got a TD a few plays later. I was so enthralled in the game that I didn’t realize that bar was all Eagles fans and is apparently home to their fan club.

While those dudes were being jackasses in Arrowhead, I was busy pissing off an entire bar of those asshats.

Man, to be a CHIEFS fan in this day and age. You young ones will NEVER feel our pain. For this team to host the AFC Championship game 5 years straight is incredible in itself. To go to the Super Bowl 3 times in 5 years is unheard of. To WIN the SUPER BOWL 2 times in 4 years is just amazing! Trust from the OG's on this board, WE ARE CHIEFS KINGDOM!

WE WON! Again! :thumb:

Rewatching the game, the irony hit me of the eagles spending all game running out the clock only to run out of clock at the end.

For those interested, here are a few PFF stats from the SB. Obviously to be taken with a pinch of salt, but just to lift up a few of the guys further.

Chenal - 86.6 - I think he's going to be an absolute monster next year.
Juju - 76
Thuney - 76
McDuffie - 72
Jaylen Watson - 74.6
Bolton - 87.3

The coverage wasn't great but the DBs work against the run was outstanding. More importantly, 3 rookies there are in the top graded players in a SB. Ridiculous. Looking at the worst grades - Nnadi, Clark, Saunders and Dunlap are all FAs. There's so much scope for this team to get even better it's ridiculous.

I'm surprised by the McDuffie grade. During the game I thought he struggled and was missing tackles.

This move got Kemp active, who had a huge catch in the afccg and threw about 4 key blocks on Toneys punt return. I'm not saying Lammons wouldnt have but man it worked out perfect. We needed receivers two weeks ago and we needed big blocks this week.

It’s crazy to me that we were a FG doink and McKinnon slide (smart choice obviously) from putting 45 points on they ass.

Without Tyreek and with our QB struggling on one of his legs

I will try to share the pic later for proof….

Before the last preseason game, my 12 year old boy and a nephew did their season predictions on a white board like they have for several years.

This year…they had the records guessed, playoff brackets and Super Bowl predictions. They missed 1 team in the nfc(had packers) and missed 1 afc playoff team(didn’t have cinci)…had predicted the Super Bowl to be chiefs eagles, and had the score written down 38-34 chiefs.

Shit you not.

Whatever they come up with next sept, I’ll be throwing down some money.

Very interesting analysis by Chris Simms, about Spags gameplan. Also debunks the idea that Hurts should've gotten the MVP very nicely:

GloucesterChief 02-15-2023 11:16 PM

I noticed we broke out a lot of things that I don't think we ever did during the season. The two back sets with Mahomes under center, it seemed he was under center much more often. I particularly liked the offset I formation with McKinnon in the FB position and Pacheco in the HB. That should be our short yardage formation going forward.

I haven’t laughed that hard in a good long while. Mostly because it would have been hilarious to hear Travis talk about it on the podcast.

That’s too low of a fine. Very dangerous hit with the helmet as a weapon.

So many gems on the Eagles broadcast. Last drive.

"What a time this would be for the Eagles to come up with a turnover!"

Five plays later...

"Right now would be the perfect time for Patrick Mahomes to get sacked!"

Oh man. Per Zach Berman (Eagles the Athletic writer) on Sirius radio:

“Among the most surprising and frustrating things in the Super Bowl was not only Andy finding a QB that he could never find in Philadelphia. It wasn’t that he took the Eagles own Brett Veach and developed him into a great GM that had his draft class come up huge.

No. What broke Eagles fans hearts was the Jerrick McKinnon slide. Why? Because it showed that Andy finally fixed his struggles with clock management that he never could in Philadelphia.”

Ouch LMAO

Elite QBs tend to put "clock management " issues to rest. Pat probably emphasized not to score

NFL Mic'd Up show had some audio from the huddle before that play where one of the guys told everyone "Don't Score." I'm not sure if it was Mahomes, it kind of sounded like someone else's voice. Maybe Kelce?? Check it out at 36:50 point of this video:

"Church mode" means don't score. McKinnon told some interviewer they practice church mode every week.

Super smart to practice that. We've seen what happens to RBs when they try to just stop 1 yard short. It's not a move they ever make. So they screw it up and fall in, or get pushed in.

Megatron96 02-20-2023 07:42 PM

99% sure that's Travis. Sounds like him, and his head moves as he's saying it.

that attention to situational details is why the Chiefs keep going back to the SB, and why they've won two out of three. Andy is all about practicing situational football.

Same thing with Belichick; he was obsessive about details. I still remember this interview with Gronk, and how the morning of that SB vs. SEA for the second time, and Bill had the defense go through that exact GL play in the hotel lobby, for what I guess was about the 10,000th time. Gronk said that Bill knew that if SEA got down to the GL in a game-winning situation, they'd probably run that play (that Russ evidently audibled to), and that Butler was the guy that had to make a play.

But Belichick had nothing to do with it. It was all Tom Brady. Every bit of the success was Tom Brady. Those amazing defenses were 100% because of Tom Brady. That's what the media keeps telling us, lol

Compare Tom's defensive rankings to Pat's and it will make you ill though. We go 5 for 5 with those defenses Bill assembled.

Several of them have credited EB with church mode. Said he drilled that kind of situational awareness constantly.

His deal had 4 void years on it. It's an accounting trick to spread the cap hit out.

That deal was always going to void out at the end of the season and the remainder of his signing bonus (which had been spread over 5 years, thus keeping his 2022 cap hit way down) will now accelerate onto 2023's cap.

The hold had nothing to do with it.

ThaVirus 02-21-2023 03:57 PM

I believe the Buccaneers did the same thing with Brady's contract to finesse the cap.

And I'm pretty sure they opted to have the hit accelerate this year so they can just bite the bullet on that hit for the void years and get it over with.

Cutthroat stuff, but what else can we expect from a town that booed Santa Claus and recently booed a guy for his charity work?

Along with Bradberry, the Eagles also voided the contracts of Javon Hargrave (DT), T.J. Edwards (LB) and Kyzir White (LB). All four will be free agents at the start of the NFL’s new year, per Dov Kleiman.

We did it with Hali years ago. Then we !@#$ed it all up and let those void years hit the cap BEFORE we re-signed him (though I think Houston's knee not responding to treatment forced our hand there).

And those years are going to automatically void more often than not. A player's not going to want to leave it to the team to either void them or not because those are typically low cost years. I think Bradberry's were like $2 million/yr or something silly like that. Of course the Eagles would've brought him back at $2 million/yr if they could've.

What this probably suggests is that the Eagles aren't going to extend those guys. Or at least they weren't able to come to an agreement before they decided to test the market.

There really isn't any news here, IMO.

I wouldn't say it's no news. These guys are all coming off a Super Bowl appearance. It's very possible they can get more from some other team, based just on that.

Sure - but it was going to happen anyway. SB or no SB.

They were effectively on expiring deals anyway. Practically speaking it's no different than saying "The Chiefs voided Juan Thornhill's contract...."

Not really - they just didn't reach an extension before the league year ended. That's all that happened with these deals with void years on the end of them. Roseman does it a lot.

Yeah, we're talking past each other.

The "voided their contract" stuff is not news, I agree.

What I feel IS news however is that they now have 4 pretty prominent pieces on defense that are going to be free agents. They could always resign with the Eagles but they're going to be able to test free agency first.

Yeah, I don't recall who said it, but in a conversation about their offense someone said "The offense will come back almost completely intact; all their mercenaries were on defense..."

They're not wrong. I think Chauncey Gardner Johnson is a FA as well. Worse still for the Eagles is that their dipshit DC has a HC gig now and brought a fellow dipshit along with him from the Eagles. So you have to figure they'll be in on some of those Eagles defensive FAs.

The big pieces of the Eagles offense will remain intact but the defense? It may get a little hairy for them.
