Taking a quick look at the Keto diet and it doesn't seem that abnormal from a standard diet to me.

If you're eating healthy meats for high protein intake and limiting sugar and junk carbs as you normally would in a low cal diet then aren't you getting a similar effect anyway?

Seems to me that Keto is just a more restricted version of a true healthy diet. Shrug, idk.

Low carbs, high fats and protein.

Most keto people push low protein because "protein can knock you out of ketosis, yo".

So what does a daily meal plan look like on a Keto diet?

As I said, I don't necessarily follow Keto directly, but I don't eat breakfast, have some coffee usually though.

Lunch I eat some form of protein, usually grilled chicken with some type of veggie. Or just some fruit, maybe some cottage cheese, an apple. I only have 30 mins for lunch and usually just see patients during that time anyway so I eat on the run.

Dinner we usually have beef, pork, chicken or fish. We raise and have our own cattle, and pigs butchered so I'm pretty excited to be able to do the grass fed or whatnot.

Paired with a salad or some asparagus or anything from the garden. I don't think it's keto but I eat a lot of sweet potatoes as well.

I have quite the sweet tooth as well, which has been hard for me. I get a bag of dark chocolate chocolate chips and grab a handful after dinner.

Unless you're doing the blood work, I don't see how you can know for sure on Ketosis.

And they can take my protein from my cold dead hands.

Why, you just use these.

Which you can buy from your handy-dandy keto guru, or course. ;)

You would be kicked off r/keto if you admitted to eating like that.

I have no clue what that is.

Sorry. It's the keto subreddit on Reddit.

O.city 05-31-2018 02:41 PM

Ah, gotcha.

Yeah, I'm not a whackjob on it.

Frosty 05-31-2018 03:00 PM

Really, when keto and/or low carb works, it works because it's a meme to eliminate highly palatable food that is too easy to overeat. They talk about "carbs" being addictive but are talking about things like potato/corn chips, pizza, donuts, cookies, candy and other highly palatable combinations of carb, fat, sugar and/or salt. These foods aren't addictive because of carbs but because those flavor combinations tickle the pleasure centers in our brains.

The thing is, is that you don't need to eliminate all carbs just to limit those things. There is no reason to eliminate a boiled potato because you tend to overeat potato chips (crisps, for the over-reacting Brit). Not to mention, using your high functioning brain instead of your lizard brain, it's possible to measure out a portion of chips and eat them without eating the whole bag.

There's not one 'right' way - I think there are several methods that can be effective toward personal weight loss, even silock will tell you - do what works for YOU.

Simply Red 05-31-2018 04:52 PM

I'm not saying any of you are saying the contrary. Just a reminder.

l don’t drink enough water. Most of it is drunk with exercise.
