By that point we'd be firmly into using cap to retain our own talent.

I’m not even sure we have enough cap room right now to sign the draft class and get through the full season, let alone fill out the rest of the roster these next couple weeks. That’s the discrepancy here we may be about to figure out depending on what they do in the end.

Sure they could restructure Jawaan or Thuney maybe, but that doesn’t mean they wanna do it or feel it’s the best choice. We’ll see.

We can be mad we were wrong but the market is the market. A lot of teams evaluated Sneed’s tape and determined he either A) wasn’t worth his contract asking price or B) wasn’t worth that + pick compensation above whatever the Chiefs get.

We don’t gain just picks from this deal. It’s $19.2m in cap space. And we need it right now, like it or not.

I would say fine, we're keeping him. we'll figure out the rest,

**** trading Sneed for a 3rd rounder. That's absurd.

Exactly. With Sneed here we are basically running out the same defense that carried us almost all of last season.

Trading him for a 3rd is just stupid. I will take another year of Sneed and trying to run it back over a 3rd any day. Honestly I wouldn't trade him for anything less than a 1st.

9.26 million per Spotrac. Draft pool is 7.68. At the very least I'm holding him until the draft and letting him simmer if his contract demands are currently too high.

Might be their plan, nothings done yet.

For some reason the MVS 12 mil isn’t showing up.

Exhibit A, ladies and gentlemen.

He would've cost 12 million if he was on our roster. That's not his dead cap hit or we wouldn't have even bothered cutting him.

IowaHawkeyeChief 03-16-2024 06:03 PM

If Veach and the Chiefs take a 3 and a late pick next year then my guess is they are worried about the knee and a long term contract. If they take a 3rd this year and a 2nd next year, that would be an Ok trade. If the Chiefs believe he's good for 3-4 years and don't get the value they want, they will hopefully extend him and work the cap as needed. That being said, he may be back on the tag, but that is probably the least likely.

Yeah Verderame said that on his pod. Sneed was out all summer with a knee. He was on the injury report a lot of the season too but he did play.

Could be a concern

No it freed up 12 mil. He was already counted against the cap. Take that away. You add it back in

Yes there was a hit on for dead cap but it still saved 12 mil on the cap

Ooh, I gotcha. Misunderstood. So we're missing 12 million in available space?
